    Hi Stan, I wish you would have shown the cars coming from the back into the mirrors after applying the blindspot mirrors…do you simply look at those now instead of the mirror underneath? What do you look for in the side mirrors underneath vs the smaller blindspot mirrors?

    • @HowSkills
      @HowSkills  6 місяців тому +4

      I mainly use the blind spot mirrors when I need to see what’s close to the side of my vehicle, such as when I’m backing. Otherwise, I rely on my main mirrors when I’m doing my normal driving in traffic. I don’t need to see the side of my car during the majority of my driving…what’s more important is what’s in the lane next to me.

    I don't use spot mirrors, but I lean forward over half a second,while looking into the left mirror, just before moving into the lane to the left of me. This allows me to pan over the area where a car that is two lanes over but coming at me from behind at an angle.

    Hi Stan,
    Thanks for providing an update / refined version of the earlier video.
    I follow very similar / same setting as you do.
    The only problem i face with this in one of my cars without 360 view (the other car has it) is that the rear tyre is not visible especially while maneuvering tight spaces as i keep horizon in the center and may slightly tilted .as you do to show more of the road. But this is definitely not enough to show the curb
    Do you recommend making adhoc adjustments by tilting downwards on need basis? And readjust back to your settings for normal driving rather than heavily tilting downwards for the normal driving which might limit the actual purpose of these mirrors.

      I really recommend, in addition to setting the main mirrors as shown in this video, that you add the small blind spot mirrors, and adjust them so they show you the area down and towards the sides of your car. You should set them so they show you the curbs beside you, and therefore help you when you're backing up.

      @@HowSkillsI just saw your video on blind spot mirror.. looks promising…
      1. for the SAE method it seems the lower inner edge seems better location for blind spot mirror.. Do you prefer SAE method + Lower Inner Edge for Blind Spot Mirror or Normal method (seeing tail of the car) + Blind Sport Mirror on the outside lower edge
      2. I see frameless blind spot mirror and ones with frame which one did you prefer… saw your recommendation on Utopicar Ventom is the suction still holding strong don’t want it to fly off at 140kmph
      3. Do you feel this is required for a car with 360 camera and blind spot warning also or it is unnecessary.
      I have two cars one without any of these bells and whistles and the other one barely bones
      4. While the SAE method is very suitable for Europe and the Americas , the question is specifically for India where vehicle can get very close to your car there are two ways to go by it
      - SAE Method + Innermost Lower Corner Blind Spot Mirror
      Standard Method + Outer corner blindspot mirror
      Which might be actually better?

      @@HowSkills In the earlier video you have recommended placing the mirror in the inner lower edge on SAE method but in this video you place the mirror on outer lower corner.. Any reason you have changed the approach now.. is it because the inner edge creates too much distraction?

      @@tronlinestream I'm currently driving a different vehicle most of the time now, and this vehicle has bigger side mirrors which give me more surface area to choose from, as far as where to put my blind spot mirrors. I chose the outside edge on this car because it gave me a good wide-angled view of the area close to my car, and also didn't take away too much of the side mirror's view that I actually needed to see. Where you put the blind spot mirror is a matter of personal preference to a large degree, and is determined by how you have your regular mirrors set, what you feel safe with, and the size of your side mirrors. The main thing for me is that, after I put the blind spot mirror in position, it gives me a good view of the area close to the side of my car. I really rely on the help the blind spot mirrors give me when backing up, reverse parking, and parallel parking.

      @@HowSkills Thanks a lot i just tried the SAE Method + Blind Spot Mirror (Ventom) on outer edge facing inward to the car on my VW Atlas.. Can confirm that this is best Mirror + Blind Spot Mirror Combo there is and works well.
      Just to highlight that while SAE method is suitable for countries with lane discipline like USA , UAE etc the standard method is more suitable for countries without lane discipline or in two way roads..
      With standard method of mirror adjustment the only method for blind spot mirror would be to point outwards to minimize the blind spot… (so we will not be able to point the blind spot mirror down to the car in that case).. I dont think we can keep two blind spot mirrors (One facing outwards and one inwards as that will take too much space from the mirror)
      While i have your setting SAE + Blind Spot Mirror Inwards to Car in my car while driving in the country in lane discipline i only left with an option of standard setting + mirror facing outwards while driving in india
      Please your thoughts on this?

    What about pick up trucks or cars that don't have 4 doors, therefore no second handle to see in the mirror and a bigger bed in the back? How would you back into a parking spot or hitch a trailer? I've tried using the small blindspot mirrors but they don't work for me at all because they're too small for me to see while I'm driving. I can't tell what's going on in the tiny mirror while I'm trying to focus on everything else. How would I reverse anywhere then?

    Having the blind spot mirror on the outer part, in the low left-tilted toward the sides of the car... would that cause the blind spot mirror to then obscure cars in your regular mirror that might be in a blind spot? Or are the cars still partially visible?

    • @HowSkills
      @HowSkills  6 місяців тому +2

      They are still partially visible. And for some mirrors on some vehicles, you might find you prefer this mirror to be on the inner part of the mirror. It’s a matter of preference, and works either way…you just need to adjust the angle of the blind spot mirror.

    I haven’t been driving too long, I’m wondering tho if the right lane is filled with a line of cars & i want to move left into the turning lane is that ok or would I get in trouble for riding in the turn lane too long?

    • @HowSkills
      @HowSkills  6 місяців тому +2

      The left-hand lane is to be used for passing other vehicles and not for prolonged driving. If you kept driving in the left lane a long time after passing vehicles instead of pulling back into the right lane, you could possibly get a warning ticket to remind you not to use the left lane for regular driving, but I doubt if you would get a real traffic ticket. It’s best to just use the left lane for passing.

    What is the problem with adjusting your mirrors while driving?

    • @HowSkills
      @HowSkills  7 місяців тому +3

      It’s distracting for a lot of people, and causes you to take your eyes off the road momentarily. During a driving test they don’t want to see you adjusting your mirrors while driving, as they expect you to do that before driving off.
