  • JACKIE is a searing and intimate portrait of one of the most important and tragic moments in American history, seen through the eyes of the iconic First Lady, then Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy (Natalie Portman). JACKIE places us in her world during the days immediately following her husband's assassination. Known for her extraordinary dignity and poise, here we see a psychological portrait of the First Lady as she struggles to maintain her husband’s legacy and the world of "Camelot" that they created and loved so well.

Hi Baby- She is of the chosen few that could survive the past shame and infamy of the Star Wars Prequels. Liam Nielson is the most badass though.

Damn, that's so tight! I'll admit, I don't know a whole lot about her, but I think that's what this movie's supposed to do. To actually inform the more people, like me, more on what she went through and had to overcome post assassination. And of course a woman, especially in her situation, in that time doing things like taking charge wouldn't sit well with people.. Ugh, which I bet are the same people who couldn't possibly understand what she went through.

I think the main reason Natalie didn't get it was A) She had won in 2010 for Black Swan B) While a lot of people thought she'd win GG for this, she lost to I believe Isabelle Huppert which was a major upset and took away a lot of momentum and also there were several critics who gave the film mixed reviews C) Emma Stone was very good in La La Land and many felt she herself was overlooked for Birdman in 2014.

As a fellow Chilean I really hope this movie puts Pablo Larrain (maybe the best Chilean director working today) on the mainstream map.

Scarface should be left alone for a bit... or maybe Fernando Meirelles and Kátia Lund should do it... they can give it the whole City of God vibe. I like Larrain but I don't think his style suits Scarface. He makes more intimate and psychological movies. Even though Scarface has those moments, I feel it is a lot more intense and even over the top.

I've seen "Jackie" and it was impressive. The film focuses about the wife of John F. Kennedy who lost her husband during the assassination in 1963. She seeks her point of view that she lost her husband, and she can't find a way to be happy just to be very emotional character whether she can be calm or do something to be okay. Natalie Portman done a great job for portraying as the true story of Jackie Kennedy. She captured her performance to be a depressing First Lady who seeks that her husband died and she made her acting very well done. The acting is very well done, the sequence done so well to be taken in the early 60's, and the movie is beyond dark and very gripping that it makes it shock of how did it happened. It's more of study biopic that can tell a story that should be more important. The director, Pablo Larraín did a impressive job for making his feature tribute of Jackie Kennedy, and I'm hoping that he will get an Oscar Nod and so does Natalie Portman who did a fantastic job. Overall, a very depressing biopic movie.

Trump is the duly-elected 45th President of the United States. If that bothers people, they can always move to North Korea. I hear their style of Democracy is just great over there.
The electoral college is the most democratic process we have. It's more democratic than the popular vote because it allows all states to be participants, and if the popular vote was the deciding factor than San Francisco and New York City would be dictating to the rest of the country who their leaders are. The electoral college will never be abolished.

    WOW...
Between this and Denzel's fiery performance in Fences... could it be that Best Actor and Best Actress Oscar wins are already locked?

+Jack Robbins Co sign. I love Viola and Amy Adams. They are both remarkable but this person, the historical relevance, the fake voice, the woman behind the character... this looks revelatory.

Don't forget Emma Stone too for La La Land. It's shaping up to be a tough best actress category. All worthy winners.

The range this woman has in her performances is insane. She's always someone else. That's how a true actress acts. Being convincing is one thing but being a different person is another.

Watched this movie Sunday and I have to say I really loved it. Not enjoyed it because its really depressing but very good. I have always been very critical of Portman's acting but she is so good in this you actually feel you are watching Jackie Kennedy. She deserved the Oscar this year more than even with Black Swan but the sad thing is she will lose. She really deserves to win.

Pablo Larrain is good at making her lead female characters look and sound exactly the same as the person they're portraying. This is the best example, we'll see how Kristen Stewart will do in Spencer.
