Not sure why JDM Muscle would design something where the plastic under tray is unable to be reinstalled. Beautiful headers though.
I think because there's only so much room to add the longer tubes to make it UEL. Sacrifices must be made for the rumble. 😅
The vent could still be removed from the under tray if you wanted to still install the under tray.
Get over it 🤣 don’t buy aftermarket if you want to keep it stock 🤷

UEL is where your problems will start. FA and FB blocks are ELH for a reason. Have fun with the ringlands
That is 100% not true, those exact same issues were there on EL header swapped cars

@@bobsmith-qz2pv also more than 1 defect with the ejs . Oil starvation was bad and crank shaft creating to much friction/heat was also causing head gasket issues

DIPSHIT THOUGHT PATTERNS HOWEVER WILL SEVERELY LIMIT ENGINE LONGEVITY. EJ25'S HIGH COMPRESSION RINGLAND LOCATION WAS DONE BY SUBARU ENGINEERS FOR LESS N0X AND BETTER EMISSIONS BUT WAS BAD FOR BOOSTED ENGINES/RELIABILITY/LONGEVITY. THE FA24 HAS A SMALLER BORE AND LONGER STROKE THAN THE EJ 25 THIS ALLOWING THEM TO LOWER THE POSITION OF THE FA24DIT'S TOP RINGLAND. THE FA24 IS A WAY BETTER BLOCK BUT SUBARU COULD HAVE DONE BETTER WITH OILING ONCE AGAIN WITH THE OIL PICK UP AND THE FACT THAT THE OIL GOES FROM THE PUMP AND SPLITS 50/50 WITH THE MAIN JOURNALS AND HEADS. MOST SERIOUS PERFORMANCE ENGINES FEED ALL THE OIL FROM THE PUMP TO THE MAIN BEARINGS AND THEN THE RESULTING LOWER PRESSURE OIL IS FEED TO THE HEADS..NO ENGINE IS PERFECTLY DESIGNED AND THE AFTERMARKET ALWAYS HAS TO COME UP WITH SMART SOLUTIONS. ALSO ANYONE WANTING ANY BOOSTED BOXER ENGINE TO SURVIVE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE NEEDS AN AIR/OIL SEPERATOR AND BETTER PICK UP.WITH SUBARUS IVE SEEN ALOT OF CAVITATED OIL LEADING TO OIL STARVATION.
im really waiting to see the long term reliability of running these on the cars. I don't care much about a power loss if. I love the sound of these.
Thought about getting them a while back asked on Reddit if anyone had done it and it ended up being a lot of people saying not to do it. One guy specifically said. “Running unequal length headers on a VB is not a good idea as it will cause uneven wear on the cylinders and also will rob you of power.”
I’m curious on the effects it does to the engine for the long term. We all know what happened to the EJ cause of how the UEL are. Sounds is always nice to have however most people really modifying their stis always went equal length as it has more pros then cons. I guess time will tell

Lol 😅, on previous models we change to EL headers but on FA24 they install UEL headers for the sound

Anytime anyone changes to UEL it’s because of the sound
@@4doors671 agree, I prefer UEL any day. I know there is a positive thing with EL but if you get Aftermarket UEL, is way better then OEM anyways, so the flow is way better.

I am really curious to see how this affects the longevity of the engine, especially at higher power bands.
It doesn’t do anything to the engine, its exhaust side. It does however increase turbo lag as it spools the turbo inefficiently.

I would say at least three fiddy?
From dynos I've seen it makes the torque come later in the powerband and it does hurt performance overall a little. Also it's just not healthy to run a UEL header on a twin scroll turbo which was designed to have an EL header.
How important is that PS vent? I put a primitive racing skid plate on last year which removes that plastic tray

Yes. They do require a tune
@@Subi_doo Per JDMmuscle you don't. BUT, to get the most performance a tune would be best. Will not cause a CEL on a stock car.

I WISH A COMPANY WOULD MAKE UEL HEADERS WITH A HEAT SHIELD SIMILAR TO HOW THE MANIFOLD HAS..HEADERS GET SO DAMN HOT AND WILL ALL THE PLASTICS AND POSSIBILITIES OF SHORTING LIFE OF SEALS ETC. IT WOULD BE REALLY BENEFICIAL FOR PERFORMANCE AND RELIABILITY.

This is definitely something that on prior models it did decrease performance when it was really pushed at high power. Sounds wicked though and I think what Bob said before is accurate on this one!
Yes, everything else being the same, the UEL header is less efficient than the EL header. This is purely for the sound. Although, compared to the stock exhaust manifold, the new UEL header may still have larger tubing which could make more power at higher boost levels vs the stock manifold. We'd need to do some dyno tests to really see the difference!
Drunkmann picked up 15hp and 25tq on the dyno
What are you doing for a tune? You most certainly need/or should want one with that UEL
We agree it's a good idea to get a new tune after doing an UEL header.
Probably going down to Oregon for a tune or PIA. But all my numbers look great!! Afr is great and no knock or dam drops yet after 2 days!

That would be dope, but I don't think they have those on the market for a few reasons.
You'd likely never see a titanium header or even j-pipe as titanium gets brittle at real high temperatures due to being thinner walled. It would likely crack. This is where stainless is a better option! Also some of that would be way too expensive to market to Subaru owners haha.
Does it need a tune after the header?
With the vb, you need to tune it for every mod including air intake.
