Hey coach, stubbled onto your channel. I’m enjoying it. I hope it’s still active. We run this concept a ton, we run it with the running a curl. It gets that outside LB to cover the curl allowing our cross to have all the space in the world
Coach, thanks as always! I check almost daily to see if you put a new vid up! A few questions: 1: How do you coach the Y on their break inside? Do you have them adjust to the coverage they are getting? For example, against man, do they stick it, head and/or feet fake, foot fire, lean out (ala Mike Leach), etc? Against zone, are they just doing the speed cut? 2: You mentioned pattern match stuff with regards to high school vs college and pro; if you see any rip/liz match, how would you handle that? Say the weak safety is the curl flat defender and takes the TB, free safety is the deep hole defender, strong linebacker cuts the crosser, weak linebacker ROBOTs the dig, strong safety runs with the dig? 3: What do you think about running #1 backside on an inside release corner? Alternatively, what do you think about this play with #1 on the shallow instead, and #2 on a corner route to get the backside safety on #2 against pattern match coverages, and thus keep the backside safety from assisting with the dig? If you do it the standard way, if they run some sort of "steal" coverage (see Coach Mac's video on gaining weak safety help for what I am referring to in terms of high school stuff), the backside safety could end up helping with the dig, but if you do it this way, you almost gurantee that the backside safety will end up on #2's corner route if they run some kind of pattern match, thus making it almost certain that they will NOT be able to help on the dig.
Thanks for your videos. I coach 8man junior high football and looking to take your concepts and port them to the 8man game. If you have any thoughts I’d love to hear it. (As a side note, as u think about how it would work for 8man, due to defenses always having 4 down lineman I usually have 3 lineman and one TE on the line). Appreciate the knowledge as always!!
Hi Coach. I just ran into another one of your videos haha. At 14:02 you show the concept run from a trips set. You say that you are not very convinced but my try it. I am not very convinced either with the drag and the dig going in the same direction but, if we are in the left hashmark and it is the L the one that does the Drag, while the TB does his route from the left, could we just send the F to the right flat while the R does the vert release?
This is coming from a Wing-T coach, but instead of using Tare motion, why not line up in empty and use Jet motion as another way to run it? You could still use 3 step motion to run your zone read and Pin & Pull plays out of empty.
I also like Leach's alignment of the FB opposite the alignment of the h.. After the F checks and see's the shallow cross the C he then runs a shallow opposite the h. The defense totally loses the FB. This has resulted in numerous big plays for us over the years.
You can run shallow out of trips. You have the F run a “shallow return route”. It looks like a whip but it won’t change anyone else’s route or QBs reads and looks exactly the same.
Thanks so much for watching Coaches!! Quick question, as you coaches know every video I create is for YOU so please comment on this thread and let me know what you would like to see a video about. And also, don’t forget to pick up your FREE Offensive drills if you haven’t yet: bit.ly/FREEdrills

Coach i think a really interesting video would be if you went over what you install for your team, chop it into days, key points, etc... Great Video!!
Hey coach, if you're interested in how to install, practice, and call the plays throughout a game then check out my website at ronmckiefootball.com

Great Videos Coach, Could I play action this ? For example run a fake power play and pull a guard
You can. Just make sure you are sound for everything the defense does.
@@CoachMcKie Yes Coach, thanks for the reply and keep up the great work!!!
Hey Coach! Just curious, how many passing concepts do you have and teach in your offense?
This is coming from a Wing-T coach, but instead of using Tare motion, why not line up in empty and use Jet motion as another way to run it? You could still use 3 step motion to run your zone read and Pin & Pull plays out of empty.
You can totally do that coach. Like Coach Mazzone says, "Dont change the play, change the presentation."
I also like Leach's alignment of the FB opposite the alignment of the h.. After the F checks and see's the shallow cross the C he then runs a shallow opposite the h. The defense totally loses the FB. This has resulted in numerous big plays for us over the years.
I agree. I'm thinking about running this concept like this next year.
You can run shallow out of trips. You have the F run a “shallow return route”. It looks like a whip but it won’t change anyone else’s route or QBs reads and looks exactly the same.
I've seen Coach Richardson do that but I've never pulled the trigger. Do you run it? If so, does it confuse your WR?
Coach McKie yes I run it. I just tag the Wr. So it would be called Trips RT F Shallow
Nice. How often do you call it during a game? Or is that based on what the defense is doing?
I’ll call the shallow concept around 3-5 times a game. Maybe once out of trips to break my tendencies.
Hey Coach, what software program are you using for your presentation?
Hudl playbool
I run it the same way just y with the inside release break post at 7 the dig at 10.. Push F 3 yds up.. TB inside read to the spider left 2 yds..

Only difference we have is we run a 15 yard rhythm post to the DIG side.
I've tried using R4 but I'm not good enough at coaching it. So we use tags when we want to throw the post.
Do you use X, , Y and Z SHAQ as well?
You can coach. That's the beautiful thing about the shallow crossing game.
