  • What do you do? You had it all planned, the weather forecast looked great, you knew where you were going, food bought , rucksack packed and "good to go!"......but then the weather changed.

I am so ready for some nice weather!!! With that setup though what does the rain matter eh?
    Food looked great!!
I’d rather be out in the rain than sat at home that’s for sure! 🥰

Nice one. I like your basic style of camping and meal prep. Theres a lot to learn there. we can all be blamed for taking too much and all the bells and whistles. Thanks for sharing.

    👍👍👍 .. nice 😊.
I especially liked the Nosh .. and cooked up in a re-purposed kitchen utility container (got the same and made a set for each of the kids, together with an IKEA Hobo Stove and Fancy-Feast Burner). Onion, sausage and beans .. comfort food of the first degree .. and so easy to rustle up 😊.
A good share .. thanks. Take care ..

I enjoyed the video, thanks. I eat of the pot or pan when it’s just me. Saves on clean up. Also I like packing along a 2 cup thermos. Great having a hot drink if I wake up chilled in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning during cold weather. A hammock is great but not for everyone. It really shines as a reclining chair with you feet up and being high enough to not breathe in the damp cold air when sleeping on the ground. I would always pull a wool blanket over my sleep system to cover my head to prevent breathing it in. Three day trips with on and off rain keep you soggy. Without a big fire or tent stove you can’t properly dry out. I find using 1 or 2 layers of shirts very helpful as they are easy to dry, whether natural or synthetic, rather than a fleece or wool sweater. I bring dry clothes to sleep in.

Nice one Neil, can't believe you went camping in the winter without a hot tenr, what were you thinking!! Anyway I'm sure those butter beans would have negated the need for a tent stove 😊

That was an enjoyable watch. Thank you. Except for one thing... butter beans! Yuk. As a kid in the 70's, butter beans and shelled broad beans were two things I couldn't like. Uncooked, they made fun ammo for my catapult, though.

A right f*rty feast! Hot food cooked over a camp fire chases the chills away. Did you get dried out Neil?
I've never tried sleeping in a hammock - it certainly keeps you off the cold, wet ground. Fine for when you're in the woods.

    Great video ...
I noticed a large amount of water running off one corner of your tarp ...
Did you lower this corner purposely to re - direct the water ?
I've seen this technique used to collect water for cooking or making coffee ,storing etc.etc.etc

Great video. I noticed your logs on the fire when was cooking and how they were positioned.. How did you feed that fire ? Was it just a case of pulling them in slowly? Thanks in advance buddy

    • @greencraft4783

Nothing fancy, a criss-cross fire lay to start with, then just lay them on as needed. As the centre burns out I push the ends in. This gradually burns the sticks up and means there isn't much in the way of fire dogs left over.
