    What Stevic is doing with tuning, tone and combinations of altering musical types....revolutionary. If he doesn’t go down as one of the greatest guitarists of our time, it’s because some asshole, that doesn’t deserve to be in a position of power, “doesn’t understand it”.
    How many times have we had to work with THAT asshat? You know that guy....the “boss’ son”, or the ivy league grad that simply DOES NOT belong in the position he was given, all because he has a degree from this university.
    Anyway, Stevic is an incredible guitarist, and I’m happy I discovered this band.

    I can't believe I wouldn't ever be able to justify the Shuriken, love the band and Stevic and Line6 (to an extent) but I'm a bassist, think they need Damon to make a bass Variax!!! The old ones were shit

      Nah mate, Damon has an incredible thing going where all he needs is drop A or standard 5/6 string. Bass has a different feel going where you don't need to tune to the same as the guitars since it's not about copy/pasting the guitar riff.

      Tarkenton you are right there, but what about when they go for low chugs in drop E and double drop D?

    • @tarkenton3895
      @tarkenton3895 7 років тому +5

      Then Damon matches by playing low chugs for E on his open E string, or D on the 5th fret of the low A or 3rd if he's tuning to B. If he wanted to go an octave lower than the double drop E or D that Stevic and Ro and using, he wouldn't be audible at all. That's why he matches the octave that they play.
      If he does ever carry a riff on bass, he does a lot of what Dick Lovgren does (from Meshuggah). If the guys are playing riffs on the F string of their 8 strings, Dick will play an uptuned E string (which is then at the same octave) but if the guys are playing their 7 string riffs on the Bb, Dick can audibly go an octave lower to his low Bb.

      Tarkenton yeah I thought it would be like that, meshuggah style that is, fair enough then I guess

      I got the Sheriken because I was in the market for a fender Strat.
      I’m able to get pretty close to my favorite Fender Strat tones and assign them anywhere. I want on the controls. … And, you can switch from that to an acoustic, to your heaviest metal tone with a different tuning, etc. etc. instantly. It’s amazing.
