Love the change up of content. It’s nice to see your transparency as well. It’s always inspiring to see others hustling to live out their dream. Keep it coming, Jackson!
When I lived in Maui I had a chill job dental assisting, then bartending occasionally at an awesome upcountry bar. Was an absolute blast. Living in a studio for $900/month, something I never thought I could do after enjoying my 2 bedroom with a den to myself for 5 years lol, was a breeze because I was always outside 24/7/365. It had an awesome open air laundry area (again, had never used a shared laundry system and was so scared but it was great!!!) And a fantastic pool and BBQ area and was literally right across the street from the beach!! If I wasn't surfing I was having beach time or BBQ or working or camping out, etc. You don't need a giant house like Jackson has lol. You can also get super creative and do farm work for fresh produce, build relationships with the local farmers. You can also do things like offering to run errands and clean house as a trade for services or learning new things like fishing or diving. Portland is so freaking expensive. I would much rather be dropping my money on the island than the mainland. I think about it literally every time I am driving my $400 cart out of Trader Joes..... and paying my other bills every month.... Can't speak for the big island. 🌊🤙🥰🤙🌊 My bro was just there and said he greatly preferred Maui and Lanai. Lanai is amazing.... aaahhhh I miss HI so much 🥰🥰🥰🌊🤙
You guys will blow up eventually just keep at it🤙 Piece of advice it’s all about the thumb nail it’s why people click on videos. And you got the content to back it up👍
Those corny thumbnails where the creators make those super animated faces crack me up
5:00 I live on Oahu and came to a similar conclusion regarding food costs. Majority of food is about 25-30% more than mainland, except Meat and Dairy products, which can be almost double.
I love this content. You are doing great. Perfect edits and JL style videos. I wish the best for you!
You're exactly right. When you set your mind to something MAKE IT HAPPEN.!!! Wishing all of y'all the best.
Jackson you seem to be an inherently focused young man. And very quite bright. Your spirit is infectious. I will continue to enjoy your adventures and your craft. You rock, keep rockin'!
I appreciate that, thanks man !
Brilliant video, yep you can keep the lifestyle going as long as you want. I spent all of the 90s, my 20s traveling the planet, I call it "10 years a backpacker". I am lucky I have a trade, but I worked at the Winter Olympics, took photos on other snow seasons and could always fall back on my trade. Well done JL you are living the dream, and the dream is out there.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I haven’t been to the Hawaiian islands for at least a decade. I can only imagine how much things have changed, especially monetary wise. Excellent video. A question I’m sure many people have. 🤙
with a little bit of intent and determination. and with heck of a lot of inspiration from you! and the bunch! thank u! love the content. hawaii or anywhere else, you guys got this. great luck coming your way!
Haha thanks man 💯
Dude this is just so good! Thank you for your awesome rich content in this video. Love the ending with the honesty and humility. You guys will go big I can feel it! 🙌
Haha thanks so much 🤙🏽
Perfect timing for this video🤙🏼 I’m moving to Hawaii in a few months so this was very valuable. Thank you!
I'm born and raised here. Better enjoy pictures of the ocean because that's all your going to see when you've come home from your 3rd job and watch people surf on the internet. You'll get to the beach once a month. You'll stay nice and thin because groceries cost so much. Gas is expensive. Most of we locals are still living here because we don't have enough money to leave because it takes 3 jobs just to survive. I'd think twice about moving here.
@@patriciaanndemello4652 preach!
Choice words, wishing you all a prosperous future, hard work pays off, keep plugging away. Thanks for the uploads.
determination really does work. great message.
You are doing it! I love your energy and spirit to make it happen. Appreciate you giving credit to your friends.
Good on you dude for motivating others! I second that and moved from the UK to the Northern Beaches of Sydney made it work, made it home and now surf every day at sunrise - happy days!
Thanks a lot man! That’s awesome, cheers
Love the ending!! How true!! If you want it back enough you can get it. Sometime it may take sacrifice (ie working Night Audit at a Hotel or working at a fast restaurant part time like I have done) but if you want it bad enough and fight for it, it will happen.
💯💯💯
You are super grounded. 20 years ago I packed the car and spent the next 10 years learning traveling and playing. Do it, and I never regretted it. Wish I took more photos and videos.
That was an amazing video Jackson. You are wise beyond your age and you have such a good head on your shoulders. I’m so proud of you and the person that you are.
Jackson great video, thanks for your honesty. God bless! Where are you headed next?
I like the last 2 mins. Reminds me of ur channel 2 years ago.
It's like "lessons learned" segment from end of every Southpark episode.
All your content is entertaining! Surfing, kite surfing, slip and slides, hiking, and even the product reviews of the ebike and the electric skate boards!!! Now a view into what it costs you to be able to entertain us in Hawaii again. Shit I could watch you watching paint dry and still be invested and entertained! 🤙🤙🤙
Hahah appreciate you man
Great video! 👍
You are following your dreams and it has become a reality. I have no doubt you will be very successful in anything you put your mind and energy into. You are on an adventure of a lifetime!
I really hope it works out for you guys, you’ve got real potential and epic video editing skills
Very good video! Allot goes into moving to Hawaii, even for 3 months. The rent is the most shocking part of it. Keep including little Hawaiian 🌺 tidbits, it adds character.
I have a bunch of family in K-Bay area and they cite the Jones Act as the reason things are typically 20-30% more expensive.
Shoutout to you guys for the hustle!
Great Info! Been to Oahu 3 times for vacation….stayed at Turtle Bay Hilton….I miss it so much
That is a Great Deal , The Quality Life and Positivity out ways the Negative Things. You tube pays well
You're doing better than I was doing when I was in my 20's. Then again, that was back in the gestation stages of the internet net when "You Got Mail" was hi-tech.
Great vlog man.... I feel ya tho, I live in SoCal😭 calsbad gets so expensive
Bro 😎 loved it! With Intent behind those words! Good motivation bro! Much love!
Also..we loved this episode..gave some great info, insight and nice positive inspiration J..keep working hard and living your dream..proud of you!
and it gets better and better god damn loving it man
This is by far my favorite video you’ve made. I can relate to a lot of the subjects you touched on but more than any when you mentioned your unconventional ways of making money. I quit my job building boats full time to chase my content creation/a clothing company dream and it’s scary but I’m making smart moves and it’s going great! Keep pushing yourself bro. If you ever come to Florida let’s work I’ll show the crew a good time
Word up Jackson… ur gonna make it. Ur super talented. Stick around the right people n great things happen
So interesting video , nice message , from Brooklyn, New York
Yewwwww great video Jackson! love the change up of content keep up the great work
I’m a bit older than most of your viewers. In the early 90s I picked my ass up and moved from NJ to Summit County Colorado. I skied and worked for 3 years. I was broke, but I had fun. Hell I met my wife there. Kids figure out a way and do what he’s doing. I retired at 25 went to ski and play. Now I’m working and have a family. No regrets just lots of great memories and a few(a lot ) of pains to remember one of the best times on my life.
Swells vs wind direction make a huge difference in looking for a surf spot. That's why Jamie always knew where to surf. Wind + swells
Good stuff this week Jackson! Can't wait to see some cuddies🤙
Bet you’re missing your local Winco foods huh Ajax? Lol
Keep up the awesome work! Aloha from Cali 🤙🏽
Nice explanations. Keep the good work!
My daughter walks up river to get her water buys the most of her food from farms on the side of the freeway in the honor boxes but then she lives on Kauai and it is really expensive she grows her own food and hunts in the ocean with spear gun. You have to be a savage to make i - She has five separate skills; two regular jobs and three side hustles but that’s what it takes to live in paradise yeah it is🥰 She’s living the life and I’m so happy for her!
Great stuff Jackson 👍😎👍
Great Video Jackson, everything I possible 🤟☀️
Gas prices are cheaper in Hawaii then here in California 🤯🤯🤯 Gas in California where I live is around $5.15-$5.85 a gallon, great video clip Stay Sicko you Sicko Jackson 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🌊🌊🌊
It’s the same thing where I live on Vancouver Island, everything’s so expensive! Gas cost 6.20🤦🏼♂️
Interesting to know how much more the cost of living is in Hawaii than the Mainland ...moreso is the fact of how everyone is sustaining there livey hood in terms of working computer gigs setting up websites and designs and cultivating videos and content for customers that you've built up by rendering your talents and products...you Jackson have merch of your own and sponsors as well as clients...a broad base but some of the others I imagine it gets tough even for 3 months...but I'm sure if things get too far in the red...we're all here willing to go fund me...we love your group and your personal work...praying for the success of the Sickos to generate profits to sustain all of you ...you all work so hard to put all of it together and work your buttons off making a living by hustling and doing your full time job...on set...very inspiring and motivating thanks for sharing the true life Sickos with us..we love and support you even more🏊♀️🌊👣🏄😎🎃🎃👍👽
Appreciate it man!!
@@JacksonLebsack your doing it right I just like what I'm seeing...now I really know how hard your working...love what your doing...making great things happen bro...keep pounding!!😎👍
Have you ever lived in the vail valley…. Same thing but snowboarding
Great stuff! Do it and have lots of fun!
I lived on Oahu in the 2000s. Lived in the Samoan hood on Kanuku St in Aiea for $1200 300sq ft apt
Jackson. I think you and I would get along; indeed, your a chill dude. Your like my slightly older brother
Amen to that brother!!
I really enjoyed this information. 😊
I've lived here in Hawaii for over 33 years, working as a carpenter the whole time...I can tell you the ONE thing that makes living in Hawaii so expensive....Greedy landlords...They are all the same..They are in collusion to keep raising the rents, telling you they can make more for your place if you move out.. Local sourced food, not bought at Whole Paycheck Foods, is the way to go..Simplify. Eat cleaner, appreciate the weather, and the lack of big city vibes, unless you live in Honolulu or Waikiki....
You left off the important stuff, how much is a 12 pack of beer and a 1/2 oz. of buds...
Solid ending speech 👏
Nice job, living on Maui most of my life, I took a trip to Phuket Thailand and lived like a rock star for 3 dollars a day, now have lived in Phuket 21 years, where you are welcome anytime.
Come to Byron bay mate its more expensive than Sydney kingscliff is not coming far behind too say hello to jamie obrien for me I luv his shows
Whole Foods in Kailua is more expensive than Foodland that's why it got its nickname "Whole Paycheck". If you eat more Hawaiian and less Haole you would spend less on food. I noticed you didnt mention housing on the westside? lol Just as you said young and no family (wife/kids) you can live how you choose. Did the same when i was your age. Live it up while you can!
gotta love those Hawaiian paper thin doors lol, I lived right next to cement city for a year or two
I've been sent loads of job offers in Hawaii, I guess the catch is they wont pay enough to live there
Like he said anything is possible. Moved to Maui 25 years ago raised two kids. Wasn't easy but I've ridden some of the best waves and wind in the world. If you love the outdoors and know how to handle your finances anyone can do it.
@@laughteraddict1003 interesting, what sort of hourly rate is needed to survive? $40ph ?
This was such a great video. I was hooked the entire time. Great job man and keep it up! I was curious after your 3 months are up in Oahu, are you planning on going back to Oregon? Any idea what the future holds for you in terms of location?
pretty solid breakdown
Greaaaaaat innnnnffffooooooooo!!!!!! I hear you loud and cleaaaaaar.... If 20 yr old can do it, sooooo caaaaan weeeeee.... Doooooppppeeee aweeeeeeeeesoooooooooommmmmmmeeee yeeeaaahhh yeeeeeeeees!!!!!!
Nice work bro.!
loved brooo
I stayed in a dump across from v land in 1990 150.00 month shared room don’t think its there anymore.
287 a months groceries is a great deal tbh
in Brazil I (living alone) pay 350+ of our currency 💀
I came out to Oahu three years ago and made several trips to Costco for the savings. Not only is that place great for saving on groceries, you'll also save on gas and then there are the concession windows where they charge the same prices for food as the mainland. I got an 18" pizza for less than $10 and ate on it for a few days. Not sure if they still have it but when I was there they also sold the Go City card and I picked that up and saved a bunch on various attractions around the island.
I live in Virginia us and are groceries are easily 280+ typically 320$😭
Heavy!!
That food is going to constantly go up. LGB
Great video!
Hmmmmmm $1800 mini van split 6 ways... it's only 300 people each? 🤯😛🤣
That's crazy 7k a month...paid 350.00 a month for 5 years across street from leftovers between 96 and 02...
Wow… how the times have changed
I lived in Oahu for 27 years and now moved to Nicaragua one year ago, Cheaper and empty line-up😆
You can probably increase discoverability to the sickos channel by introducing some shorter product reviews or some general informational content about some of the sports you guys practice. It really might be worth a/b testing those categories. If not on yt, maybe try doing a product write up on the site if you guys have one. I am certain there is enough search vol for these terms for you guys to get decent conversions.
"Just make enough money to live, and its all good"
I live by this quote
Except when you have to retire lol 😉
Lol bro you got that coolant hose fixed?
Bahaha! Groceries lasting for 2 months while living w 5 other boys🤔 kind of doubt that one!🤣🤣 Also J you need to remember the high cost for groceries is because they all have to be shipped over seas = expensive!😳
thanks, will start vloging again.
that sums it up
How long is the drive to Costco
Perhaps, van life ? Makes for some good content!
hawaii sounds like a place you wanna eat a lot of fish and mangos and grow a garden.
The ability to work online will change your life. I'm 40. I do have a wife and kids. I work in software engineering and can work from anywhere with decent internet. So for the winter I'll be living on my sailboat in the Carribean and working from there. There are so many opportunities that didn't exist 10 years ago.
Laughing my ass off about the Bozeman Mt comparison on costs! Yes, agreed, you could own a mansion in MT for 7000 a month! When we lived in Missoula we paid 500 in rent for a two story 4 room house. Even where I live now in the Midwest, for 7000 a month your are looking at a sweet house for that! A bit less than in MT though. Peace ! Feel for your challenge.
Walmart foodmart is probably cheaper lol. People over praise Costcos price...better quality though
Brian laundry used to hate spending money on groceries, unless he had that Long Island Amex
I refuse to think about what my costco bill was on Maui. I'll just say $300 was a good day, less than a full cart. Scarred! I hope we stay away from that shit for a long long time here on the main
Hawaii sounds great but I would rather rent a Balinese mansion for 500 a month!😂😀
💯💯💯💯
Solid message and great mindset 👏 keep exploring with the content too, it's certainly working!
Fresh fruit and veg very expensive
That burger was definitely a Teddys burger
Wategos rents in byron bay
GR8 vid
Si se puede!
For the algo
order snacks an stuff on amazon
Yea that is about right 25% you are basically paying for shipping costs to the island since literally nothing is manufactured there
Thanks crazy tho. Thanks 🙏 Jackson
