Suddenly, the door to her cottage burst open and a ghostly figure appeared before her. Terrified, Emily tried to run, but the ghost seemed to follow her wherever she went. She begged and pleaded for it to leave her alone, but it only grew more aggressive. Desperate for help, she went to the village elder for advice. The elder listened to her story and then told her that the ghost was the spirit of a young woman who had died in the cottage many years ago. She had been tragically killed by her lover in a fit of jealous rage. The elder then gave Emily a potion that would put the ghost to rest. Emily thanked the elder and hurried back to her cottage. She poured the potion on the ghost and it immediately vanished. Feeling relieved, Emily went to bed. But as she closed her eyes, she realized that the ghost had been her own reflection in the mirror, the ghost was herself who had died many years ago, the potion was deadly and she had killed herself.
