I have a whistle in my outdoor/EDC kit & I even gave my granddaughters Fox whistles. I’m not sure my daughter appreciated the gifts 😂 by they do live beside the forest & young kids like to explore.
I found it quite interesting. I didn't really think about whistles as a form of communication
Definitely a must have for the outdoors. I make sure each kid has a whistle on them when camping. They know to blow 3 times if an emergency, 2 times in response to a voice or whistle call and 1 time to initiate a call (usually to find their way back) which is responded by 2 whistles. However, THIS whistle is a little light on sound. I would think it was just a bird or something.
Yeah I had him do 5 so no one thought it was a real emergency
Someone mentioned walkie talkies too, that could also be interesting to see what kind of range they can get through woodland etc
Whistles are excellent to review! They are /can be a very useful EDC for just about anyone. Perfect stocking stuffers. Great for emergency bags in case of earthquake or tornadoes. Great to have on boats in case of emergency. Different materials for different uses, sometimes colored, different “pitches” and decible ratings. All of it is quite useful. And undeniably for personal safety, some of those whistles can do serious ear damage if loud and high enough. 👌🤓👏😁❤️❤️❤️
They are affordable and easy to carry so definitely a good thing to have. I don’t have this brand but I have bought Ti whistles from WE, Kizer and a different style from Olight. They all seem comparable. The Tops whistles you get with their knives (can be bought separately) are very loud also and cheaper but are a made of plastic and somewhat finicky in use. They are very usable but if you blow hard they don’t work as well so might be better if with the others if giving to someone to use as an attention getter in a crisis situation.
I have several titanium whistles. One on my key chain , in my trk and in my go bag.
Also great in bear country; a simple toot every couple minutes will avoid sudden close encounters.

I think you should have compared to another kind to see if there is any difference.
Im thinking about getting this one i have the Nitecore one but its not as loud as i would like i would love to see the SoS wazoo whistle against the Thrunite amd Nitecore they are similar size and weight would love to know which would win.
