thanks man you have in the past inspired me to grow veggies, and since the last corn video i also got inspired to lifting weights, thanks alot, you may not know me or have everheard of me ,but for me you are like a father figure thnks
I have planted sweet corn in late March and had ears with zero worms. They're often ready before the caterpillar eggs hatch. Sometimes frost kills the entire planting. LOL Luscious is my early variety, it'll be ready by the weekend. It's only been sprayed once with spinetoram, a semi-synthetic related to spinosad. The Funk's G90 will be ready in less than two weeks. I'll spray it one more time. The G90 is extremely tall and dark green. I see some stalks with three ears but I don't expect them all to be full size ears. I planted the sweet corn where I had a brassica/radish cover crop. I applied a small amount of 19-19-19 at planting. When I laid it by when it was knee high, I applied a small amount of the triple 19 along with a trickle of urea down the row middles and cut it in with a tiller. I watered my sweet corn for the first time today since it hasn't rained in a while.
Before you get ready to harvest buy a Super Benriner No. 95 Japanese Mandalin for cutting off the cob. It only takes about 5 passes on the comb. I can do about 100 ears in 15 to 30 minutes
Fantastic Travis! Thank You, Sir! Racoons and squirells seem to thunk the sweet corn is ready to harvest a few days before the farmer thinks it is ready....Ha! Chuck in Jensen Beach FL
Brother, I wish you live where I do. That way we'd have the same issues. We have had more rain than we can handle in S.E. Texas. No flooding, but more caterpillars than I have ever seen!!!!!
i pulled the last of my corn yesterday after work i had my best crop ever. i use a white supersweet variety. i never thought i would say this but creamed its almost too sweet. its delicious grilled or boiled
Patrick Shivers just had a video today comparing a plot of GMO corn with the BT/Roundup ready to a non GMO variety and his GMO corn actually had worms in the ears whereas the regular hybrid didn't have any. He's over near Ft. Gaines GA I believe.
You are very inspirational! My corn took a dive! This is my first time planting, & they started off looking great. I'm using 20 gallon grow bags & planted 6 in each. They got to about 3 feet, then the leaves started turning yellow & the tassels opened. I did hit them with some blood meal, but nothing. I don't even think I have any ears. What am i doing wrong?
My corn here in ne ohio got planted in early may and its dark green and 5 to 6 ft high, just starting to form tassles. Should be a decnt crop and im thinking of planting one more short growing variety this week just to see if it makes it. Lol
Look great. I hope my corn looks half as good as yours. I started mine late to make sure it didn’t get ready when we went on vacation and got terrible germination. Not a good stand so I am just praying the kernels fill out.
How often or deep should we be watering? I have nice dark leaves and small ears forming. Didn’t rain for a while but got a huge 2 week downpour in Dallas Texas.
I went away for a couple days, and mice have eaten almost all of silk of my corn... I'm kinda doubting they got pollinated. We have a huge mouse problem this year, runnin traps daily. It's so damn depressing, when you grow stuff just for varmits...

Thank you for your sharing brother 11:10
I'll have to try that seasoning, but I highly recommend Meat Church BBQ's Texas Sugar, it is amazing on corn on the cob, thanks for the vids
I appreciate the knowledge and experience that you share brother 🙏🏻
P.S. it doesn’t matter to me how you dress, talk or present that information…

The kids might need to set up the farm stand again to sell some sweet corn.
Just got my dwarf cowhorn okre. Soaking some seeds now to plant tomorrow. Thanks Travis!
Nice Corn Travis😁🇦🇺🧑🌾

Going to try the double rows next year with hopes of only growing corn every other year.
Try Jane’s Krazy Mixed Up Salt! You will never go back to another veggie seasoning.

Thanks Travis…….dang varmints seem to get my little crop every year……but I strive!
NuNu’s is the bomb
What’s the best way to clear corn stalks from a plot without a tractor?
Machete

good video Travis.

Beautiful corn! Yummy
Lol I wish there was a BT squash seed.....My zucchini plants are not looking so good. Love your corn!
There are squash seeds with systemic insecticide treatments. That's what the commercial guys use. It's called "FarMore" treated seed.

I'm wondering if you apply a mulch to your corn beds.

How do you manage to hill your corn in double rows? Thanks
I use a rake and do it manually.
Cook it in a cast iron skillet in the oven and hmm hmmm good!
How would you compare Nirvana to Honey Select?
Been a long time since I had honey select, but very comparable. Nirvana seems to have a little better crunch IMO, but the sweetness is very similar.

rabbit can eat fresh corn silk sir
Durn raccoons 🦝 got all mine😢
Oh no 😢 Sorry to hear that 😔
I have Raccoon eating my figs. 😡
Corn is too good to cover in seasoning. Butter and salt is all it needs🙂
So the stalks are down? Now what?
If you cut them while the plants are still green, they'll break down relatively well.
Too.much nitrogen caused the worms
