Dumb comment, they've been actively fighting a war since 2011, they've been armed the whole time. Most of their equipment was taken from the Syrian army, or the Iraqi army through what they managed to capture from ISIS. Rest is bought from the black market, funded by donations from various Islamist organisations. Some groups are sponsored by Turkey but I don't think those are involved in the offensive.

The region would really benefit from arms, embargoes across the board the big powers to stop meddling in various countries, across the region. Nothing good has come out of conflicts aside from failed States such as Syria Libya Iraq Afghanistan Palestine Lebanon. A big catastrophic zero for western performance and intervention in these countries. And yet we still keep pursuing the same strategy that's a geopolitical failure. Enough clearly the strength of the industrial military complex and the vast profits war generates are the major influence and drivers of these perpetual wars. The people need to take back control of our policies abroad since Blair our government is increasingly unaccountable to our complicity and aiding of these foreign wars
