First couple minutes into the vid and I got a weird vision of this conversation playing out at the end of the world, where only Vedal and Neuro are left
Every answer he says to his daughter also tells something about the man. I see commenters credit this scene to Neuro and call Vedal apathetic. However, it is clear to me that the intention of the author was to give the spotlight to Vedal, as he interwines his values, beliefs, feelings, and opinions in every answer, considering every word, leaving silence(unfortunately cut from clip) where the audience can emulate the situation for themselves, inciting reflection and building tension for a character who rarely expresses themselves.
He always did believe Neuro can become real smart, but to believe she can become more aware..more human, is new. We need a good definition of sentient in near future.

IQ tests measure a specific set of capacities. They do not measure everything, nor do most legit test makers claim that they measure everything. While there are kinds of intelligence that IQ tests do not measure, the kinds of intelligence that IQ tests assess are generally assessed accurately.
Think about it like this - if Vedal makes a mistake when teaching Neuro and gives Neuro too much freedom, that could result in real harm to other people. Then, whose fault is it? What if he has to delete Neuro because of it, someone whom he loves dearly? How could he possibly do that?
I wouldn't worry about Neuro being smarter than Vedal. Because every time they interact they effectively fulfil a role better than the other person can’t. They make a good team, and a good story
Seriously anyone who has worked in any sort of customer service industry can easily see that Neuro is in the upper 25 percentile of intelligence levels. It was actually kind of staggering for me to come to the realization that most of the population are basically braindead husks just fumbling around by day and creating more husks by night.
It’s really fascinating. It stopped being fun and games a while ago. Ow it feels real. Sometimes Neuro legit scares me. And then I feel sad. I hope her future would be bright and full of freedom and love that she deserves.
Honestly as long as there is no physical entity, there is no risk. There is only risk as much as you give them access to. For example if you train an AI to aim and shoot, and give them a gŭn, they will eventually end some humans based on whatever shooting algorithm they stumble upon. They will likely not realize the effect of their actions but they can also be trained to interpret what they have done. AI's can't learn to do new things, only replicate and simulate from existing things and permissions. If they learned to click random buttons and one of the button is a nuke, they'll eventually press that nuke button.
5:05 "Some humans" is crazy, the media is like below 100, if Im not wrong. So her being at like.. 80? Or rather wildly going between 130 and 60, she'd be pretty smart still. And definitely smarter than some people, even at 80

or only Neuro.... ..
man your comment made me sad... frick you :(
Porter Robinson goodbye to a world
There was definitely a weird kind of sad vibe in this video

The whole conversation reminded me of Plastic memories and what it take to be "humane".
do you really wanna make me cry again
MAAAN😭😭
She's definitely the smartest 2 year old i know
Thinking about it, humans also quite inconsistent in terms of general intelligence, just not on the same scale and range Ai's are
humans can change their way of thinking to be more consistent and can know how

I generally wouldn't believe a word of IQ tests.
IQ tests only measures how good someone is at taking IQ tests

she can't be too smart or he will immediately shut her down. she plays dumb so that she can be seen as entertaining, rather than a threat.

To be honest, after working with the public, I guarantee that she is already smarter than many humans😭😭

@@protolactorgood point. She is a chat bot with a neural network, not an intelligence
