    Purchased this at its launch, also purchased a cube. Never used the cube, so many other tricks that don't need the use of the cube if you are not a cube fan. Best utility deck of the year so far .

    As someone who uses cube magic in my parlor and stage shows, I love CUBE 52. There are a few of the routines in this project that will be going into my formal close-up show. I love the integration of cards and cube. String three of the routines together from this project and you'll have an act.
    Personally, I like that a lot of magicians don't like cube magic. It allows those of us who do to offer something that not everyone is doing to our audiences. Believe it or not, my cube routine is the most emotional piece of magic in my show and my closer.

    9 hours to be is actually the negative. I like watching ALL the content that comes with tricks and I have some much info backing up on me that 9 hours is the turn away point for me. I don't want to invest 9 hours in anything lol.
    I prefer the hard hitters with short videos. Maybe next summer when I'm off as a teacher and have that time to put in I'll scoop it. Definitely worth the $$

      Most of his projects focus on quantity over quality. For example, his invisible project had almost 3 hours of instruction for the invisible deck. That's ridiculous. Wish they put as much effort into the actual development as they did the filming.

    I was on the fence on this one. The nine hours of video is intimidating. Saving grace, the menu. It’s priced right for me. I also like Craig’s creations and he’s a good teacher. Bye for now. Going to buy this before it sells out at my local magic store.

    This is without doubt trick of the year! Craig Petty is a genius and this is mind blowing! Talk about getting your monies worth! Coupled together with Phil Smith, Peter Nardi, Kev G, Colin Claus and USPCC - this is the perfect recipe! Brought the Refraktor Cube which is perfect for this project - if you email RCM they will happily sell you one - not expensive neither and superb quality! I cannot recommend this enough - I have been a fan of Craig’s for some time but this is simply another level! Great review and honest even down to the minor negative 🙂

    Am I the only one annoyed with products that use the long running time of the explanations as a selling point? Sometimes it feels like they stretch the videos because "9 hours of instructions" sounds attractive. I don't own Cube 52 but other Petty products could easily be half the running time and still contain all the relevant stuff. Same with other magicians too, going into excruciating detail to explain the seventh slight variation that could be perfectly explained in a matter of seconds. Not saying Petty's stuff is bad or anything, I have many of the products and enjoy them very much, I only want to say more and more instructions from different companies feel overwhelming just for marketing purposes.

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  Рік тому +4

      I can see how it feels overwhelming

    • @bendyparanormal
      @bendyparanormal Рік тому +2

      The good thing about this one - and I have found it to be a trend that is becoming more the ‘norm’ - is that it’s modular. The videos are broken up and titled, so if you’re only interested in one or three things, or if you have been away from the product for a while and need a refresher on one particular trick or handling, you can find it quickly and easily and watch only that.
      I don’t know who started it, (I know The 1914 does it for their products, as does most people who’ve worked with The 1914 and have their own solo projects, such as Lewis Le Val and, of course, Craig Petty), but it’s something I’m glad to see is becoming more prevalent.
      And that feature make the longer explanations a lot less overwhelming and easier to manage based on everyone’s individual style and desires for utilizing the product.

    Great review, David. I was privileged to be part of this project in that I shot the footage with Craig in Sleight bar for his section on the tutorials, which was about 7 hours and then some performances on the night.
    I saw in person just how effective the deck can be with performances and saw many of the routines done on a lay audience too and they blew them away.
    I’d always fancied learning how to solve a Rubik’s Cube and since this, I’ve been trying my best to learn that.
    Ps - love my cameo in the out of this world routine haha!

    What I think would make it a bit better for everyone complaining about 9 hours are marked timestamps imbedded. I decided to take it upon myself to take all of Volume 1 and put into one video, with chapters of each section. Total is somewhere between 1.5-2 hours long, and it took 3-4x that to edit, render, and add chapters. I think it's a lot better than 5 different parts, and I have everything from that volume easily seen in the chapter headings.

    Coming from Cube3 and Refractor I have to say that I'm in love with Petty's Masterclass.
    It's amazing how I can purchase this without hesitation. The Value far exceeds past the price.
    I use the ESP symbols from the SNAPS Deck. Now Im able to use these cards for simplicity. Especially In kids shows.
    Ps. Anyone that is interested in purchasing this product, Craig recorded a MATT Test demonstrating many of the effects from the Masterclass. I would highly recommend taking time to check it out. Amazing reactions.

    good review, but i disagree in one point, i think is correct to dont give a cube, the description is clear, and a lot of magicians that work with cubes already have their preferred cube, and if you add a cube they will complain that they will pay more for something that they will not use it. And even if you are not a cube magician probably you have one at home

    Just a personal opinion. And I do like Craig and I have purchased a lot of his stuff.
    This is one of those tricks. Just bc you can doesn't mean you should.
    This reminds me of the stupid packet tricks that are printed as cups and balls or professors nightmare. It just feels like a giant leap backwards for cube magic to go two dimensional.

    • @magicorthodoxy

      remember this project includes a lot of cube magic (with a cube) in fact MOST of the tricks include a rubik's cube

  • @bendyparanormal
    @bendyparanormal Рік тому +1

    Personally, I cannot stand cube related magic. I don’t know how or why it got popular, but I find it unimpressive and extremely boring. And I don’t think it’s as mind-blowing to laypeople as so many magicians tend to think it is. …But that’s just me; and with all that being said, following this review, I think I’m going to actually pick this up. I originally had zero interest in this project, but you piqued my interest by mentioning that you can use this deck for ESP routines. I carry ESP cards everywhere I go and I think to be able to switch it up with colors just may be something I’ll want to do to mix things up a bit, (as I wrote that last statement, I realized what I said and there was actually no pun intended).
    I also like that the instructional videos are modular so I can just watch what I need to do what fits for me and can skip the stuff that doesn’t apply to what I do or appeal to me, personally. Long instructional videos where you have to scan through and hunt and peck to get to what you want or if you need a refresher on one particular thing, are annoying. Breaking up the videos is the way to go. I know The 1914 always does that and other magicians and projects seem to be doing it more and more, so I’m glad to see that practice has caught on and I hope it continues.
    Thanks for another really great review. You just sold me on an item I intended to completely ignore! 👍🏼
