I'm sorry can you please clarify? What are you going into? What is an AO? What is an AM?

      @@markhjoy AO is aviation
ordinanceman and AM is Aviation mechanic that’s why i ask because yes there both aviation by of course the mechanics do more tech stuff on the f-18, greyhounds, P-3s etc but i was winding if i’d still be qualified more with a rate such as AO

Ok I beleive you are Navy...correct me if I'm wrong
I don't see any transferrable qualifications for A&P under the MOS codes as an AO, you'd have to be in something aircraft maintenance related.
      Please double check here: drs.faa.gov/browse/excelExternalWindow/DRSDOCID125310001920230721133818.0001?modalOpened=true
Figure 5-135 shows the MOS code correlation.
Let me know if you need any more help!

Hey mark thanks for the video. Im a usmc veteran with almost 11 years of experience in Avionics. 6 of those i was a reservist as an engine mechanic and im looking into getting my a&p i just dont know where to start. Id love to just take a 12 or 24 month course to make it easy but i work full time. Do you know of any part time courses i could take or have any advice?

      Hey thanks for reaching out!
Where do you live? I have a list of all FAA approved schools I could check + give to you to see what your options are - if they offer any classes that could fit around your schedule.
Of course if you don’t go to school, you’re looking at 30 months to get your A&P.
One other option would be to just find a job in avionics since you have so much experience where the employer is open to paying for your A&P while you work.
What are you doing for work right now?
Also feel free to shoot me an email mark@markhjoy.com

@markhjoy I work as an avionics technician for a 145 mro in eastern NC but they don't cover a&p courses I already asked

      Ah bummer!
So the only two schools in NC I see are:
      CRAVEN COMMUNITY COLLEGE
      FORSYTH TECHNICAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Apologies if you’ve already checked these out, not sure how close they are to you, if they offer classes around your schedule, etc.
Or if there is an alternate shift your employer could allow you to work while you go to school? Like 3 12’s on the weekend to go to school on the weekdays or something?
You’d have to go in person tho, of course.
Do you have any work records from the military? Or could you ask to get them if it’s possible? You could reach out to your closest FSDO to see what your options are with your military experience, and maybe you could do a “crash course” refresher for the written and oral and practical tests for prep.
Again, sorry if I’m telling you anything you’ve already tried or already know.

@markhjoy thank you very much, I didn't know anything so this is super helpful. I appreciate you taking time out to respond to me, I think I'll try the 3/12s route. Again thank you very much.
