I am new to carrom. Can someone explain the use of boric powder ? In America it is considered toxic. It is used as a pesticide. I want to buy my first carrom board and all i read says boric powder is the best powder. Apparently it does not give off ill effects or the rest of the world would not use it. Please explain.

Boric powder is used to keep the board surface smooth and hence preventing friction while playing and pocketing the coins for players. Eventually it also leads to increasing the life span of the carrom board surface for years and reduces the scratches over the board surface
