I feel like it’s a moot point once you start recruiting prisoners there’s always going to be the question of loyalty. These people weren’t loyal or excepting of the laws of norms of society. That is why they were in prison in the first place now we’re trusting them to do fighting potentially, so I don’t really understand the restrictions that much definitely you don’t want rapists definitely don’t want people that are into fraud depending on a case by case basis murders and drug traffickers might be perfectly OK again depending on a case by case basis and I feel like across the board you can getlower level nonviolent felonies, a free pass

There was a criminal US Army recruit who did basic training with me in 1998. I was told that a judge gave him the choice of prison or the US Army. He was loud and prone to verbal aggression and making threats but wisely, he didn't become physically aggressive. I guess he wasn't a big fan of the prison lifestyle. The US have a history of using criminals in the military dating back at least to WW2. Criminals are more likely to be sociopaths and psychopaths. Such individuals can be quite useful during war due to the having significantly less inhibition to committing violent acts against other human beings. Also, getting some criminals in the military is doubly beneficial. Not only do they end up helping protect their country's interests, they also no longer have to be housed, fed, given medical care while doing nothing beneficial for society.

imo the light infantry probably moved in to trouble Ukraine and drag away manpower from the east but noticing the shocking lack of defence the commanders were like "what the heck" and just continued.

      @@SavageJunky Exactly this 👍
Almost all war / military oriented channels entirely forgo any mention of the increasingly deteriorating state of the Russian economy.
Putin is taking money from anywhere he can, closing one gap and leaving another. This why things SEEM TO BE going well in CERTAIN REGIONS within Russia. He cannot keep this up. At some point this is going to fail. They are running out of money quick. And the remaining stored vehicles and munitions have not been maintained, or only very little (corruption levels in Russia are really, really high). Getting them back in working order is going to cost a LOT of money as well. Not to mention a great need for equipment and parts to be able to do the repairs. Often parts that were formerly being imported from the West.
Infrastructure and state projects are already starting to fail, and failed infrastructure cannot be repaired anymore (the broken dams and collapsed rise highways, for example). All the money is going into Putin's war chest at the moment. This, as you mentioned, due to the loss of his billions, which he stored in foreign economies/banks/investment projects, as a means to have a war chest when he started the war. Putin greatly miscalculated, though. He didn't expect the West to come together so quickly and seize (what was to be) his war chest.
There is a reason why Russians in certain parts of Russia are starting to rebel. People are going to increasingly notice how bad things really are. And it is going to get a lot worse...
There is also a reason why they are recruiting people from Africa and other poor regions. They are having a great amount of trouble getting (Russian) people to fight for them, plus PAYING THEM! So, taking poor people is sort of an option to kind of solve that issue... I guess.... (it's not, of course).
It's not a matter of IF, but a matter of WHEN the Russian economy is going to collapse. it may indeed take a few years more, but it is going to happen. No matter how much Russians are trying to downplay and flat out deny it.
And people, certainly don't take my word for it. There are a LOT of economy specialists here on UA-cam that state and explain the same, in great detail. The Russian economy is in an undeniably bad state.

The 16 is a unique bird to understand how it should be used and i hear they are having trouble with this. But you dont want green pilots either, they could learn the 16 better but then just dont have the chops for combat yet or the basics of flight already drilled into more experienced ones.

The Western artillery shell prices are I believe something that increased quite a lot in recent years, probably due to the shortages. One could argue that the high prices are in practice the price reflecting the costs to build the various expansions and new factories. Russia in this seems to be working more with old facilities, so probably don't have much capital costs then.
