Always make sure your passengers know all the safety equipment and procedures. Was in the water once between the boat and someone who was struggling to swim. No one on my boat knew what I was telling them to throw(the floating cushion.) I had to choose between swimming to struggling swimmer or swimming to boat to get flotation device. Of course I made the right choice and swam to boat since I'm not a lifeguard and fortunately the person didn't go underwater.

Avoid collision at all costs. Regardless of right of way. It's not that way with cars.
