With the Pro Junior, its a no nonsense tube amp that really show if you really know how to use your guitar's volume and tone control like the guitar players from the 50s, 60's and 70s. Yes, before there were master volumes on tube amps. Just crank the amp and use the volume control of your guitar to adjust the overdrive of the amp and use the tone of the guitar to tone in that smooth woman tone. Use the Pro Junior with a Les Paul junior or a guitar with P90's then you got the tone of classic driving Rock and Roll!!!
I play experimental rock/metal. Played a show earlier this year and the venue had the pro junior through the pa. The guy said try this one. So I put my whole rig with pog, ocd, delay etc. through that thing. Holy shit. Used my boss eq as booster. One of the best and clear live sounds i’ve ever had. I need to get one.

I’m lucky enough to have a large studio room in my house, so I can turn it up and push it without killing my ears. I’m surprised they’re not more popular. I have several more expensive amps and I use the PJ more than 90% of the time. It’s glorious.
I have an original drip edge super reverb from 69 and i finally bout me a Pro Jr. IV LTD and it lowky sounds better than the Super Reverb.. I think i gotta replace the old speakers.. they are in good shape but they sound fizzy and weird...
^ I gigged my 4 years of college with a Blues Jr, sold it for a SuperSonic, and now looking at at Pro Jr, for practice, smaller gigs, etc. (or run in stereo) The Blues Jr. really shined when I fed it into a 4x4 cab live. Don’t forget it handles pedals really well, so bring it to a local shop and test some out. Only amp I’ve used a Boss DS-1 on for Tom Petty lead.
Hi Budda, Good video. I have just bought a 'blues junior iv' to use in my mates studio, and have ordered a 'pro junior' for home use which hopefully will arrive tomorrow. I had a 'blues junior III' which I sold to my mate's son years ago, it's still in the studio and he still uses it. I love them both. By the way I chose the iv over the new tweed. Best wishes, Nick

I'd love a video about how to get great tube breakup sounds at low volume. Many of us live in apartments and struggle to work out good solutions as most videos don't take this into account
If you have an amp with really high clean headroom, you should try a transparent overdrive/tube screamer, usually they are non transparent and lose the amp's natural breakup sound.
I miss my Pro Junior. I'd go to blues jams and setup onstage with the Junior on an amp stand pointed at my vocal mic - when I'm singin' I'm blockin' the spill - when I stand aside my mic gets the spill I like the amp just past the sweet spot and work the volume from the guitar plugged straight in. Most importantly, the Junior was way way lighter than my old Super Reverb!
I've got an old blues junior, even put a cannabis rex speaker in it. I disabled the amp and use it as a speaker cab with a tweed deluxe and dumble style heads. Blues juniors are thin, ice picky little things. I seen Jeff Beck use two pro juniors in stereo. That settles it.

Fala Budda!
The Blues Jr for the WIN. seems like the minority opinion, but I think the Blues Jr. has way more range giving it a richer, deep timber. The Pro seems super compressed...some players like that.
I'm subscribing to your Channel, It has the info I've been looking for a long time. Your work is awesome, I saw the black and tweed episode and I It must had been difficult to produce. I mean episode 44 is Epic. In that episode I hear the mechanical rattle off the black blues junior with both black and tweed speakers. It's strange because when the black amp is connected to the tweed speaker (outside the black amp) It rattles the same, in that scenario the black amp chassis is supposed to vibrate less. Now I watch this vídeo and I hear rattle in both the blues junior and the pro junior as well. I'm confused. Anyway your channel is the best, you have the best gear to record amps, I can tell because I own a black blues junior and a tweed as well, and they sound in the video very close to my amps in my studio. (Listening through Tannoy monitor speakers). And you get away with UA-cam compression! Keep doing videos like this. They are awesome, and forgive me for my bad english, it's not my main language. Cheers !!!!
ncoyouth that's hard because low wattage and clean tones are almost never together. But the Princeton reverb, or the deluxe rever, or even the Mesa boogie transatlantic are good low watt options.
ncoyouth I have a 1965 Blackface 'Princeton Amp', -- not the reverb model. The non reverb Princeton's have a *lot* more head room than the Reverbs due to having only one one preamp tube. I can barely get any breakup even at full volume with my single coil guitars. i think it's probably the exact kind of low watt Blackface clean you want, if you can find one for sale. They seem to be a lot more rare than the Reverbs.
Hey Budda would be great or maybe you can make a part of this comparison to connect the Pro Junior into the Blues Junior Speaker to really hear their similarities or difference in tone! Btw aLWAYS great viewing your videos are great! Oh that M9 is great~! In other matters, Line 6 put out the HX Effects and it looks great!
GREAT as always. If you have the chance it would be nice (for me:) to review some small mesa boogie. They are trying to sell me a M.B. Subway Rocket as a perfect combo. all valve, Loop effects, Headphones out, good overdrive, good clean. I've also have in the price range a Mark iii Multi class head. For rock , zzTop zep, stooges , guns'r. they look very good but sound wise and daily home use...I don't know (les paul and 70's strat here) Bless. --hope to visit Portugal again next year--
@@BuddaGuedes just check, the Subway is a bass amp but no the "new" Subway Rocket, it even has spring reverb, looks really Good ., I'll check your TA15 / 30 videos
Never cared for the Blues Jr. at all, so my sole purpose here is to see if the Pro Jr IV sounds better. I already have a '68 Custom Princeton Reverb and a kit build of a Custom Deluxe with 3.5 Watt ECC99 power tube output (Tube-Town Emma👍😎). So I feel like I already have Fender tweed and 6V6 tones that blow away than anything I'm hearing here. I'll take a pass on both - neither one really does anything for me. The Pro sounds small, nasal and boxy. YMMV.
I find funny how you move everything every time on the blues junior just to make it sound like pro junior, the reason I mean is because pro junior sounds more pleasant to the ears. Just my opinion
Is it normal for the Pro Junior iii to hum a little? If so, will it affect recordings and live gigging? Very close to buy the one i tried in my local music store. Great playing btw. Cheers
It happened to my Vox and looks like it could be the single coil thing, especially when cranking the volume up to push the tubes. Edited to add, I'm torn between the 2, but I think I like the tone on the Pro Junior more than the Blues Junior.
I brought the blues jr pro western with eminence speaker returned it great amp but got the blues jr 4 Humboldt with eminence speaker great amp more flexibility to tweak especially volume cause it has master and regular volume

That's a great idea and it's already on my plans to do it. Thanks a lot for the suggestion!
Could you put a different valve in the pro junior so you can get more volume before it overdrives?
You can on v1
I put a 12AY7 in that spot and it was exactly what you're asking for, wasn't stoked on the pro jr. before, but I am now!
You should ask for an A/B box for Xmas :D
Nice video. Thanks.
João Pedro Martins I have two a/B boxs but it adds two cables and different cables, só it affects the comparison. This is just one, cable and amps.
Fala Budda!
The Blues Jr for the WIN. seems like the minority opinion, but I think the Blues Jr. has way more range giving it a richer, deep timber. The Pro seems super compressed...some players like that.
🤘🏻🤘🏻
Cheers !!!!
Thank you so much for your support!!! I think the tube rattled is translated through the amp too, it’s. It just a mechanical problem
Hello Budda What is your favorite amp for clean Fender Blackface tone please (including Mesa Boogie amps and other), for home use.. Thanks.
Nicolas
I would say Mesa Boogie Lonestar or Fender Super Reverb or bandmaster.
And for a low wattage amp please ? Thanks
ncoyouth that's hard because low wattage and clean tones are almost never together. But the Princeton reverb, or the deluxe rever, or even the Mesa boogie transatlantic are good low watt options.
Thanks, very kind. Nicolas
ncoyouth I have a 1965 Blackface 'Princeton Amp', -- not the reverb model.
Boas!! São os amps ideais para isso. Amps a válvulas até 15 watts. E esses timbres sacas bem com estes amps. Outro fantástico é o Marshall Class 5
So heres a fun suggestion... find a 10' JBL for the pro junioir... 🤩
Great tip
Very nice video, Budda, thank you! The two amps made in USA or Mexico?
The pro junior is made in USA and the blues junior is made in Mexico
@@BuddaGuedes Ok great thanks
Hey Budda would be great or maybe you can make a part of this comparison to connect the Pro Junior into the Blues Junior Speaker to really hear their similarities or difference in tone! Btw aLWAYS great viewing your videos are great! Oh that M9 is great~! In other matters, Line 6 put out the HX Effects and it looks great!
Jonathan Rodriguez that’s a great idea. Thanks a lot
Budda Guedes you welcome! You got it bro!🤗 !🎸🙌✌️
--hope to visit Portugal again next year--
I have a review of both the TA15 and the Ta30 in my channel.
From what I know the Subway is a bass amp!!
@@BuddaGuedes I'll check all of that inmediatly thank you !
@@BuddaGuedes just check, the Subway is a bass amp but no the "new" Subway Rocket, it even has spring reverb, looks really Good ., I'll check your TA15 / 30 videos
Just got paid sold this amp..
🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
great video !
Thanks for your support
mann you are amazing
Eh! Eh! Thanks a lot!
Did you ever try to inverse speakers?
(Bjr in a 10" & Pjr in a 12")
No I didn’t but it’s a great idea for a video.
Thanks
I did it! I just bought a aby...
Both togheter are just undescredible. TOTALY AWESOME. 10" + 12" = pefect sound!
Deluxe Reverb next please
Never cared for the Blues Jr. at all, so my sole purpose here is to see if the Pro Jr IV sounds better. I already have a '68 Custom Princeton Reverb and a kit build of a Custom Deluxe with 3.5 Watt ECC99 power tube output (Tube-Town Emma👍😎). So I feel like I already have Fender tweed and 6V6 tones that blow away than anything I'm hearing here. I'll take a pass on both - neither one really does anything for me. The Pro sounds small, nasal and boxy. YMMV.
You just saved some money
I got the fender bassbreaker 15 what you think of them
I’ve never played one
There are be the same, you must say instead one more valve + 12" speaker VS 10" speaker and less features. Electronics no change
Hey there. More tubes, spring reverb, bigger cabinet and bigger speaker, makes for a very different amp.
Well it work to plug intogether threw a boss me25
🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
The pro jr is a better sounding amp.
@@keithclark486 I've had a few of both amps and like both but the junior just sounds better to me.
I find funny how you move everything every time on the blues junior just to make it sound like pro junior, the reason I mean is because pro junior sounds more pleasant to the ears. Just my opinion
👌
i wish the Pro Junior had a 12" speaker(less Knobs)
David Lutke I love 10” speakers!!! But you can always mod it!
Thanks for watching
David Lutke i have mine running through a 2x12 cab and it sounds great - use the cab out
Is it normal for the Pro Junior iii to hum a little? If so, will it affect recordings and live gigging? Very close to buy the one i tried in my local music store.
Great playing btw. Cheers
Heyhoe they don’t hum. What sometimes happens is that I’m too close to the amp with single coil pickups
@@BuddaGuedes it hummed even with guitar unglugged
It happened to my Vox and looks like it could be the single coil thing, especially when cranking the volume up to push the tubes.
Edited to add, I'm torn between the 2, but I think I like the tone on the Pro Junior more than the Blues Junior.
They are two cool amps but the pro junior has more mojo actually
If there was a way to cut bass on the PJ, I’d be all in on it. I know some people like farty, flubby tone, but I can’t stand it.
There’s a very simple way. Just add an eq pedal
musically smart man
Thanks
@@BuddaGuedes just brought one today very happy takes pedal extremely well thanks
Great
@@edwinmartinez9787 Which one did you buy?
I brought the blues jr pro western with eminence speaker returned it great amp but got the blues jr 4 Humboldt with eminence speaker great amp more flexibility to tweak especially volume cause it has master and regular volume
Pro junior has more TONE!!!
👌
Daktakatah
This looked like gibberish til I said it outloud haha.
Jesus Loves You
No soul in the blues jr
Really?!?!
sm57... ugh. that's not a real microphone... that's what a million ears are used to, but that frequency response is whack for a mic.
but great vid though! pro junior is fantastic!
Mics are like ears. Not always the best mic is the best solution.
Mics are tools so when you want that midrange the 57 is a great solution.
Thanks
SM57 has been & will be on more records than the OP ever will
What’s an OP?!
can't watch you because of the cussing... I have a daughter in the room.
ok
Fuck off
Heard of headphones?
I didn’t understand that
Great video!
