Love the house updates! It gives us a break from the teaching content.
Always fun to show a little bit of normal life outside of teaching 😊
Hi Katie, super teaching, BAM! Great use of houses to identify the importance of Paitriots day. Blessings Susie 🙏🇬🇧🇺🇸💖
@@susangumbrell3874 thanks Susie!♥️
I love the excitement you’ve brought to the writing process. We used to have a writing test in third grade and fifth grade. The test went away and so did the district’s push for writing. Well writing is back with a vengeance and I couldn’t be more excited.
@@patriciagallop2551 writing can be such a difficult subject!! Our writing test is in fourth grade so this year we started using the same program as our 4th and 5th graders to help them prepare - five paragraph essays in third grade 🤯
@@mrs_katie_in_elementary I use colors to code the different parts. Green for topic and closing sentences, orange for transition words, blue for details, and purple for elaborations. This really does help them with editing and revising. Five paragraph essays are mind blowing. I spend the first six weeks teaching a good paragraph, then we move on to the big essay. Good job on bringing the excitement!
I love your positive attitude! 💜
Aww thanks Brittany! ♥
Using those house traits to connect is such a great idea- and a way to make something so scary more appropriate for younger learners. Thank you for sharing!
@@kathleensudol8370 thanks Kathleen! I think it went really well and was a great way to make a tough situation appropriate for my learners

I am happy to be the first one who commented ❤
Katie,
1. You look awesome in your outfits.
2. I like how you connected the 9/11 lesson to Your House System.
I am just curious, how do you actually award the house points?
That one won me over a little bit more than the other lessons.
3. The Super Writers technique caught my eye for a bit too.

Do you provide any accommodations on the reading test for students who aren’t on the grade level?
I struggle giving these kinds of test because I already know who’s going to pass and fail so what’s the point of stressing kids out.
@@primaryprocedures2289 accommodations are provide as indicated on specific student IEPs. Common accommodations include testing in a small group setting, reading questions and answer choices aloud, extended time, or breaks in testing session.
