I'm sad because my dad said I can't a Quincenera next year because we don't have enough to money since he's a single parent. I have been dreaming of that day since I was 6 years old but all that dreaming was worth nothing. I know that my dad has been there for my brother and sister because my past is something I want to forget. I had depression and attempted to commit suicide 2 times, I had low self esteem but look at me now I got help and now I living a beautiful life. A quince means a lot to me in my opinion because my mom and my grandmother never had a quince and I want to be the first to have a quince in the family and continue that tradition. I hope that others can relate to this.
I couldn't have a quince either so my dad bought me a quinceañera ring and necklace. It's very nice and a beautiful reminder of your 15. Maybe you could ask your dad for that instead
Judy Salgado Just do what my best friend did and have it at a family members house and have it be really intimate with immediate family only, get a rental dress and have the family help cook the food. It doesn't have it to big, even though it might not be what you dreamed of, its something, just look into it.

Please be greatful you havr your dad....a "quince" is overrated. All the money spent is for "show" and it has lost its true traditional meaning. You will grow up and look back at how not having a "quince" didnt make a difference in your adolescent period.
Pamela R thanks for the idea because what a Quincenera to me means having my parents see me as a grown women and having the father and daughter dance. But there are also times that I don't want a quince because my mom won't be able to be there because of personal issues.
Judy Salgado i didn't have a quince because I didn't want one I chose to travel but my family did a small gathering and they bought me a crown and a cute dress and I danced with my dad. You could have a small quince party buy a cute dress invite your friends and have fun
