My absolute number one favourite song recorded by Fairport Convention. The sentimental nostalgia of this song is overwhelming. This cover version is brilliant !
I totally agree. And what a marvelous cover!
Such lovely lovely guitar playing! And what a voice the lady has, warm and melancholic, just like Sandy's!
OMG!! Why doesn't this have more views??? I'm stunned. First by her voice, and then by the sound of the flute.
how in the world have 13 years gone by since this was made without me ever hearing it before? Incredible
I'm blown away at your guitar arrangement, how on earth did you manage to sound like you're playing Richard Thompson AND Sandy Denny's parts simultaneously? Yeah, if your guitar tab is freely available, sign me up!
Also love the tenor recorder, just beautiful...
Firstly, you must be very brave to cover a song by the Glorious Sandy; but this could not be better. It is stunning. Thank you so much for this. Good luck to both of you.
you have done great justice to a beautiful song.
Beautiful. Great to hear that there are young musicians keeping this music alive.
Lovely job, guys!!! Goosebumps!!
This has to be the single best guitar arrangement I've heard of this song!! Heartbroken the link for the tab doesn't work anymore :(
One of my most favorite songs ever, and I think justice has been done fully to it here. Just beautiful.
Perfect cover, great skills, you're both really talented! the convination of the flute and the guitar and the beautiful vocals is mind blowing! I hope you keep posting!!
That was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful, you two! Great music-making!
Amy

this is so beautiful
What a superb cover of one of my favourite songs. Well done the two of you!
Saw the great Sandy perform live in 1974. There is a great re-discovery of her music including my discovering Sandy's daughter, Georgia Lucas, commenting recently on another Sandy cover!
Absolutely amazing version of an amazing song.
Fotheringhay has been my favourite song since I first heard it more than 50 years ago, and you guys played it together very, very well.
i love this song and your voice too
Enchanting.. Thanks for sharing.
Beautifully done .. one of my favourite Sandy Denny songs
Josienne:
Your voice is just so lovely. I truely enjoyed your cover and you and Ben have done this song much, much justice! I am very glad to have come across your video tonight.
that was amazing.
WOW!!!! excellent vocals and musicianship ...... u both capture the feeling of that song beautifully!! great stuff ... thanks for this :)
Both are to be congratulated! I was thrilled with this version. "Fotheringay" is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my life, and this new version that you two performed is really, really good! Thanks for sharing!
Bravo!!A standing ovation from me,I am very very impressed!
That was really lovely
Great work you two! 👼 👼
This is an amazing version. Brilliant guitar, beautifully sung!
Beautiful! A remarkable rendition of this excellent Sandy Denny song.
What a lovely voice!! Nice guitar playing and recorder playing too. Enjoyed that a lot!
Keith
Excellent guitar playing and very beautiful singing!!
I've heard Denny covers that do her justice pretty much never, until now. Clarke & Walker have a firm grip on the original, and then Clarke tweaks the phrasing and adds a tasteful recorder solo, as well, to leave her mark on the song. You have to be really, really good to make it look this easy.
I'll second that !
Fully agree
Guys, this is over the top. Fantastic.
Excellent cover nicely done
Lovely version of a great song.
Big thumbs up! I'll be watching more for certain.
Fantastic!

So much better than I thought it was going to be!
I've listened to Fairport's own 2012 version. Your version blows them away! Thanks for sharing!

Really brilliant cover. Have done such a great job :) Would love to have the tab if its still available please?
Sandy was the best, but you come close! Thank you.
oo, yeah
Very nicely done. The performance is very good. The recording quality is fine but could be better and the performance quality surely merits it. This a wonderful song and I have not heard a better rendition that did not include Sandy Denny and Richard Thompson.
+William Adams ^^What he said. Twice.
OH YES!!
You have done much, much justice for this beautiful song, lovely vocals and accompaniments with instruments. Can you please, please cover the song that Sandy sang called, "Fear a Bhata" (spelling?)
Thank you.
this is amazing! so beautifully played and sung... :-) (not sure i like the way ben makes it looks so easy though!!)
gatheringay Sandy
Hi Ben . i love your cover and i want to be able to play the song on my guitar like you have done. i went to the link you have mentioned but i couldn't find the tabs. i could only find the the video of your cover song.
Please help me find the tab. i shall be highly obliged . thankyou. you rock!
Beautiful...heard it at Cropredy recently ! Can't get to the tabs, could you advise
thks
Yes, as a regular Easycome and Lantern Society enthusiast I too am awaiting the album. It's going to be well worth it methinks. Sorry, speaking in 'folk' there.
Hello you two, this is my favourite Fairport Convention song and I think you've made a beautiful cover, I enjoyed it. I would like to complement Ben for his guitar part/arrangement. Wish I could play it like that so I ask Ben if he has tabs of this song or do you know how I can get them so I can practise. Greetings from Belgium.
sorry, my comment below makes no sense because I was trying to do a search and it auto corrected. I just don't want it transcribed to something offensive and can not delete from my cell. Very lovely song and talent. Thanks for sharing your talent! :)
Exquisite interpretation of one of Fairportand Sandy's best. Is that some kind of vintage recorder remake you're playing? It adds an original, medieval touch and an extra dimension to Ben's fine guitar. Poor Mary. She was doomed to be highborn in cruel times.
I'm subscribing and wondering when your album is out? Thanks. Jason
you just need to click on the word "Fotheringay" in the description above that video, the link leads you to the tab in .pdf
Great. Great
The tab link doesn't work. Can you fix it?
Thanks a lot
Dear Ben , would love to get the tab but the link is not working , is possible to get it somewhere else ? Thanks a lot .
