Boy do I miss Dave.... Thanks for taking the time to share your wealth of knowledge and being a friend. Im sure you and Capt. Jeff are above with tight lines. You will always be a legend and a true pioneer of the sport we all love. Until we meet again, RIP my friend.
We love blueline tile fishing here in VA. I would think you guys get a lot of tangles on a trip like that. We get them just fishing 4 or 5 people on one side of the boat here. It's seems our class of fish is a good bit larger here. If we reel them in slow here we end up feeding a lot of sharks on the way up. We hand crank some and use electrics when we want to fill the box faster.
Captain Jeff Guttman is the best!! Love fishing on the Voyager especially the offshore sea bass trips!! Maria is awesome, the mates are great, plus you can beat the comfort!!💯
Captain Jeff Guttman is Hands Down one of if not the best Party Boat Captains around! He works hard to put his anglers on the fish..... He'll go far and wide to do so and has The New Voyager to take you there! Great Captain, Great Crew and one Helluva Boat (Comfort is key and she has that).......
Old Doris Mae Iv. What a beautiful all aluminum fast vessel! I'm 30 years old and fished this boat as a kid up until the eble family sold her. Sad to have seen her go but Jeff really showed this boat love and it left off just as she was sold! The best and fastest party boat on the east coast hands down.
No electric reels ? They are a main stay down here in Florida for deep drop fishing ! Reeling fish up from 500 to a 1000 feet of water ! I can feel a case of arm and hand cramps coming on just thinking about it ! Good video !
On that trip, no electric reels were allowed, since we were hitting some big fish structure, and we didn't want any potential record fish to be disqualified due to the tackle.
That trip was run through the Reel Seat tackle shop in Brielle, NJ, and the owner, David Arbeitman requested that it be a manual reels only trip. Generally, when you go on those trips its 50% or more electric reels.
I remember in the 70's on the Jamacia for $45.00 catching 30-45 lbers and for an extra 10 bucks ya got a electric reel. Now the fishery is a fraction of what it was. Remember Leo D. rip...........
all this new fancy fishing equipment and no fish or small fish to catch. back in my days we only had PENN reels. Georges Banks great Cod on the Viking Fleet.
I used to long line for tilefish out of the Hudson Canyons on the fishing vessel the General George Patton then on the sea lion 8 then on the panther and the lady Maria witches from Barnegat Light
Deep water fish are mostly long lived fish. Tile fish are on the short list of fish that have high toxins. They should be avoided as a food source. It makes very little sense to catch and release since they will die because if the depth where they live.
That's what happens when you high stick and attempt to swing 4lbs of lead and a fish. Has nothing to do with the rod, or the person who sold the rod. Nice try though.
@@idratherbefission man you have some difficulty doing math buddy. That’s at most a 32 oz sinker. Banks don’t come in 4lb sizes. You seem like another expert

RIP Capt. Jeff and Dave of the “Reel Seat!” One of The Best Tilefishermen and “The Captain” that ever did it!
Well said and RIP to both Capt. Jeff and Dave, good guys taken too soon.
It's a shame to hear both of them passed, death really sucks
Voyager is literally the best boat in NJ. Excellent captains and top notch crew. Definitely my favorite

Fished this boat right up to 2011, caught lots of tuna and tile, Capt Jeff by far is number one in my book.
RIP Capt Jeff, you were the best.
Fantastic job with this video! Great cinematography!

Thank you, one of the finest. Good job
Love it. First video I've watched from this channel, great music choice and really laid back vibe. Plus the fishing was pretty cool
We appreciate the comment! Really glad you liked the episode. Stay tuned for more!
What's better than a good day of fishing? Nothing!
I just got hooked thanks to your video I'll be using a stinger hook on the squid just for a good hook up!

just wondering can you use electric reel in this boat ?

The new boat use to be the Doris Mae out of Cape May NJ. I also fished that boat, one thing for sure, it can get up a boogie.
@@C-J-Outdoors The Doris Mae fished out of Barnegat Light before being purchased as the new Voyager, no?
The old Doris Mae!!!! Best boat around! She's fast too.
@@C-J-Outdoors old Doris Mae iv ! Very fast! All aluminum

"it doesn't hurt to set the hook a bit"
Yes, yes it does hurt
That is a cool boat! nice video!!
Just did this trip on voyager yesterday lol. Caught my limit first day
Sounds like a good trip!

debate does it make a difference if you tie a leader line to your main line and rig, or just your main line to your rig
Do you think a rod rated 50 to 80 lbs is to heavy for fishing for tilefish or should I stick with 30 to 80 lb rods
Rip Dave… stopping into the reel seat isn’t the same anymore
i see everyone has conventional gear, i normally see electric's on deep drops is it not allowed?

What brand of sunglasses are you wearing in the tan hat??
It does hurt to set a circle hook with the rod , just turn the handle Randle
What brand of sunglasses is the guy in tan hat wearing?
I cant decide between the Talica 25 or Talica 16 for tile fishing, any suggestions?
16 you don’t need that much line capacity for 65lb braid. There not tuna!!!

Exhibit A why you never let anyone use your rods. Doesnt matter how much experience they claim they have!
Did you say fluke ? For bait ?
Setting the hook in 700 ft of water lol

Where?
RIP Dave
I hope that rod had a 'No Fault' breakage guarantee. Hate when rods decide to fail.
operator error 'High sticking'
He swung the fish incorrectly and was reeling under the wrong arm the whole trip. Nice guy and video but needs some party boat fishing 101.
Run a 5 hook rig made of 400 lb momo
I can't believe nobody is using electric reel's
When Dave organized the trip, it was manual reels only.
Lol when you high stick a rod that happens
Those fish are small.
What happens when you buy a rod from guys who don't know but claim to be experts. Ahem the reel seat
