I joined the British Druid Order about a year ago. Before that, I joined the Druid Network. Best thing for me to have done. The seed of Druidism was in me since I was a child. Making this commitment to study was absolutely the right thing. I have studied on my own in many, many ways over my lifetime, but this involves an acknowledged community. It has given me a kind of validation and context I could not have had otherwise. Thank you for your sharing. Though my path may appear full of twists and turns, I am indeed called home. As so many of us are, now.
Bardic grade here... I am a Norse Pagan/Heathen, yet I decided to look into druidry for learning purposes. Upon reading the introductory material, I was surprised at how much resonated with the ways I already believed and practiced! And with Drudry being a way of spirituality, it complements my Norse/Germanic pagan practices and beliefs rather than requiring me to alter them. (I have yet to check out Philip Carr-Gomm's books.)
Lovely to hear your experiences, dear lady :bows:. I am a solitary over here in England but I ever appreciate the role the Orders play in elaborating and gently spreading the seeds of the Old amidst the new growth of our current age.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us ! I'm really considering entering the Bardic Course... I've been looking for the two books from P.Carr-Gomm, but I couldn't find the same titles, even on his website. Are you sure it is the right titles (The wisdom of druids and The wisdom of nature) ?
I feel as though I may have outgrown the Wiccan Tradition I came from. Been researching a lot into my Native American (Chickasaw Indian Nation half-breed here) to bring some of my Heritage into my practices. Wish I had others around me that are Pagan but not Wiccan.
That event towards the end looks like a lot of fun! I was a little confused about the belly dancers at the end. Is that Celtic? I always thought that was Egyptian or Middle Eastern. Just seemed really out of place...
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I went looking for the books you mentioned by Phillip Carr-Gomm and could not find them. Did you read the books in German and that was the translation of the titles?
OBOD is not new age. Druidry is a way of life. I allow myself to be, I allow myself to grow, I allow myself to grow! Jehovah credit! Kind and gentle. Love to all.
In response to the controversy of the term 'druid' I'll give my opinion. It is correct to say that modern day druidism has nothing to do with the druids of the ancient celts. The information we have of the celts and their druids is sketchy and not necessarily trustworthy given it largely came to us via Romans and some Greeks. I don't have a problem with people calling themselves druids provided they are clear that druidism is a neo pagan/new age movement which is not connected to the druids of the past. It cannot possibly claim to be. It is hard enough to be a Gallo-Romano polytheist nevermind an authentic druid. So by keeping the lines in the sand clear on definition I do not see any harm in modern druidism. Just because it is not for me does not mean it doesn't have its place. Peace.
I am Merlin reincarnated In this life I'm native to America I lost my knowledge of the way of the druids on the way back from reincarnation I need to know why and what I need to do to relearn it
Actually the Druids didn’t write anything down, as the knowledge was considered sacred and if you couldn’t commit it to memory then the path wasn’t for you. So unfortunately, there wasn’t really anything written down in the first place. 😞
Sorry if my English isn't perfect > Speaks perfect English.
How wonderful your journey with OBOD is! I am a newly initiated Bard :) I am thrilled to be with you. Your English is marvelous!

Hi, I've been following OBOD for a short while trying to learn and I wondered about neo druidry being new age? Is it?
OBOD is not new age. Druidry is a way of life. I allow myself to be, I allow myself to grow, I allow myself to grow! Jehovah credit! Kind and gentle. Love to all.
Yes it is. Unless you're reconstructionist. It's basically wicca with another name.
Perfect English I thought you were British
I'm thinking about joining a new gym.

Meinen Kommentar gelöscht? Darf ich fragen, warum? Eigentlich hatte ich es herzlich gemeint mit der Einladung.
Ich weiss nicht was du meinst. Ich sehe leider nur diesen Kommentar hier

Uhm correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't a true re-incarnate remember everything about their past life?
I'm the reincarnation of fish lips... just the lips. Settle down, edgelord.
It is SUCH a shame that there is so little documentation (if any??) from the original Druids. Christianity made sure of this.
Actually the Druids didn’t write anything down, as the knowledge was considered sacred and if you couldn’t commit it to memory then the path wasn’t for you. So unfortunately, there wasn’t really anything written down in the first place. 😞
Yes, the light shines for those who seek it! Jehovah credit. God is love! OBOD Bard Ukulele HollyBloe USA

These aren't the druids you're looking for.
Seek Christ and him alone! If not you will only keep searching for real truth and peace!✌
Yay, Christianity is so Pagan!
