We just bought a 1994 Jayco 1207 for $300. We remodeled it and put $1800 into it but it is so cute now! It took 5 weeks of hard work, but also lots of fun.
Hey I know you from a different channel. Happy that you like camping. We are from the Macon area. Started out sleeping on the ground. Then got a pop up, then to a 32' travel trailer. I hated pulling that thing but did for about 8 years. Now we're back to a pop up. Love it. I can hear the crickets, owls and coyotes. This is camping. Keep the videos coming and have fun. Where were you camping at for this video? It looks like way south GA or FL by the trees.
For light duty camping there are a lot of advantages. For example when you tow with a moderately tall vehicle like an SUV or van , you can see over the top from the driver's seat. They are also more lightweight than a hard-side. With two or three people it's possible to put it on a dolly and push it into place. If it's 10 degrees out, no! -but we've been in ours down around freezing with a 1500W electric heater and were plenty comfortable inside.
Y’all are so fun!…we have a set up permanent trailer in the mountains which is seasonal so I’m trying to get my hubby to buy a pop up for the off season and just to go to some other places! Loved your video!
We just bought 2018 jayco sport 12sc . We had a 1999 Dutch man that was nice to. We started out tent camping and have been doing this for awhile now and we love this life style
The wife & I had several pop ups when our kids were younger finally went bigger and just kinda lost the fun of a tent camper, so now the kids are grown and we just bought a 2020 rock wood hi wall pop up can’t wait to get back in the woods
Pop Up campers are so Awesome grew up Pop Up camping in the North South beaches and out West One other recommendation is check all of your roof caulking frequently & re-caulk your roof on a schedule to avoid any water damage. We caulked our 1972 Skamper frequently over the years & we didn't have a carport or garage & avoided water damage. Don't worry if the caulking you do isn't clean looking, as long as it's good caulk & done properly your Pop Up camper will last many decades without leaks
I stumbled across your channel looking for state parks in Georgia to visit. I grew up traveling with my parents in a pop-up camper, some of the best memories of my childhood. Camping with my children was always in a tent as I agree with you, it’s better to be outside then to be cooped up in a camper. Making memories as I always told the kids! We now have a small travel trailer, 20 feet long, just me and the wife. Best of luck with your new adventures, new memories.
ADLER farms sent me over here to your sight and I have truly enjoyed every moment of your video, looking forward to seeing many more. Both of you are so awesome.
Y'all have bought the perfect camping experience for a young family, we did a lot of tent camping for many years and moved up to a pop-up in 2008 when we bought a 2008 Fleetwood Arcadia. We live in Georgia and traveled all over the country with that pop-up and the most important part was we made memories with our kids that they will remember forever and I know we will to. We have upgraded to a fifth wheel, but the pop-up is still with our family since my son and his wife are now the proud owners.
I agreed with you guys. I love outdoors. Bought a 2005 Palo few years ago. Just done the renovations, wife and kids love it. Pushing me for more camping trips now. Thanks for sharing the videos. Good luck and enjoy.
We bought one in May, camped twice in June, and are planning to go out again, soon.😊 We love our pop up, too! We haven't seen what you've seen about larger RV owners, though, about staying inside all of the time. Our daughter's family doesn't, and husband's cousins don't. They/we are on the bike trails, on, or in, the water, hiking, site seeing, etc. But, a lot of your reasons for getting a pop up are the same reasons we have. Biggest one was Not having to have a truck! We had already bought a fairly new Grand Caravan a couple years ago. And our pop up fits in our garage... We don't use our water tank, we use a 5 gal jug and fill up on campground water, use bottled filtered water for the coffeemaker and drinking. We did get a small microwave to help with food prep, and heat water for whatever dishes and cookware that needs to be washed. I do have a regular dishpan and small drainer since the sink is pretty small, so we only use it for brushing teeth and hubby's shaving. Greywater bucket is under the drain out back. Otherwise, we use the bathhouses. Haha, husband's cousins, Airstream owner, was having a fit because we've never prepped the tank to use it. Claimed we'll have to use it at some point! Says who?? We will camp where potable pump water is available. We hope to check out more state parks soon!
Thanks for sharing... im truly inspired and im currently restoring my dads 1987 starcraft meteor pop up. He passed away around New Year's and I found his PUP deteriorating in his yard. I just couldn't leave it and I know it'll look amazing once I'm done. Looking forward to the restoration process and taking it on as many adventures as I can.
We are moving up to a pop up from tent camping. We live in the Rockies and have summers off so for me, my wife, our ten year old son, and our two dogs, we expect it is going to be perfect. We will be bringing a little camp toilet for my wife. Perfect to pull behind our small SUV. Pumped! Subscribed.
We got rid of our pop up early in 2020, went to a hybrid but quickly found I didn’t like the hybrid. We ended up getting a bunk house but not too big and bought a used one because you nailed it, we stay outside! No need to spend 30k on something I’m only sleeping in. I miss the pop up but will say I like a real bed lol. Love the channel and keep up the great work!
@@PopUpLife the hybrid we had was too small for us, especially compared to our popup which was similar to yours we had two king beds and went down to a full and twin in the hybrid. Also my youngest wouldn’t sleep under the canvas if it rained, although she was the same way with the popup. All in all pop ups will always have a place In my heart as I still love them. Although not setting up wet canvas I do not miss 😆
I agree with ALL of these reasons!!! They are just so easy in all the ways. BONUS cheaper camping fees at a lot of places since we do t need full hook up and can typically use tent sites 😊 I wish ours had the little bathroom inside BUT we survive just fine with our portable potty 😉 we were lucky enough to get ours for only $1000. It was single owner and well kept!
Great video. I listed my five reasons before watching your video and found definite overlap. It's definitely a good way to go camping at an affordable cost and have just as much fun as anyone. Great job, guys we love watching. The best idea we have got from you is the "fish cleaning table." Oh, and Roll Tide Travis.
I think my wife and I will get a pop up. They seem to have everything a person needs to be out and about. And No MORE Tent camping. Perfect for a person like me on a small fixed income Great I'm glad I watched some of these pros and cons videos Lol
We got our pop up for $250 I do have to put up some beams because the roof is messed up a bit, and reseal it. But were also remodeling it to spruce it up.
Thanks for sharing i glad i found im also buying a pop up for the 1st time i think its a great solution for me and my grandkids i looking everyday while saving one of my reason is bc im a rental and i can store it under my carport. I love the fleetwood brand we me luck on finding my 1st ..happy camping
Love your new channel guys! Such a great way to still travel and experience the outdoors, safely during COVID. Thank you for posting these videos. I work in the hotel industry, and during this time of furlough (yes, still!), it is nice to see good alternatives that keep people safe and healthy. Love the pop-up idea, and appreciate your advice on traveling the state parks in your area. It is beautiful out there enjoying nature :)
I think pop ups are a bit more work in many ways, but totally worth it! They are so much easier, like you said, to squeeze into small spaces, towing is a snap, budget friendly… I hate sleeping on the ground and when it rains hard, tents are the worst! Pop ups are just plain fun! 👍🏼
Great video breaking down the pros to a popup. We’re currently trying to decide between a popup and small travel trailer. A lot of the reasons we are leaning towards a popup are things you mentioned. Thanks for sharing…just subbed!
You guys are great, but I have to ask you. You saw that shirt in a store and you just had to buy it?.. I'm just picking on you a little bit but,... What were you thinking?... 🤣🤣🤣😁
Have you been to coffee general state park? Its 10 miles from my house and we take our kids all the time. They love all the animals. And they have a heritage day once a year where they show you how people lived in the 17-1800s
@@PopUpLife they have a small farm with sheep, goats, chickens, ducks ext. You can rent boats to go out on the pond and miles and miles of nature trails around the 17mile river
I would've to see links for other UA-cam people you like to watch. As I mentioned a few min ago, we suddenly have a hybrid...hard side with tents at each end. How do you waterproof the canvas? This came out of the blue so I'm in freak out mode to learn, hoping we didn't make a huge mistake :/ Thanks so much and as we're just up here in southeast TN I'm excited to look through all your campsite reviews! Just subscribed :) Thanks again!
Thanks for sharing. I bought a canvas tent last spring, my son and I love getting out with it. We definitely started out with a small kit of camping gear but have slowly built a camping gear set that is easy to load up and go. Stay well!
your camper is similar to mine. I have a 2004 fleetwood yuma . if you find yours to be too low to the ground when towing , look into what they call flipping your axle. theres a couple ways to do it, i chose the easier and cheaper way because i dont tow it far or often but worth looking into if you need more clearance
Hey Trever! Thanks for the reminder on Row by Row to check this site out. Going to enjoy this one too! Question for you .. we don’t have a pop up but we do have a 1964 Shasta 1500 being restored. Once completed can we park next to you guys? It’s cute and great but ... we don’t have a bathroom and you do! We do have a pop up tent and a porta potty to go inside that we’ll let you guys use too if you let us use yours. Deal?
