When i was a kid 1940s /50s in Westport New Zealand, there was an old barge similar to these shown here. They were used to transport vehicles across the Buller river before a bridge was constructed in the early days of settlement. Thank you Samantha. Bob NZ.
Love the lighthouse! Your video got me thinking I should have moved upstate a long time ago. I always loved Bear Mt. it was my favorite place to go when I was a kid. Brings back so many memories. NY state is a beautiful place. You live in a very beautiful part of the country.
I love drone videos. I can't make up my mind which one to get. I am missing out on seeing things like this. They did the same with the Gold Rush ships in San Francisco Bay. If you look at the northern shore of Coastguard Island between Alameda Island and Oakland you can still see the remains of a lot of them. In San Francisco the city was built out over the wrecks and they are still there underground.
A lot of Maritime Law(s) were devised for the purpose of protecting shipping co.'s . Many of the laws are not in modern day interests . A perfect example is in Santa Barbara after the horrible deaths of 34 scuba divers , laws that were written in the late 1800's are still in effect today . The charter co. is not held liable , even though two hatches were locked and the boat burned , then sunk ( it supposedly passed Coast-Guard regulations .) Our Great Lakes , ports-of-call etc. are filled w/plenty of wrecks... I didn't realize the Hudson was so shallow up river !! Thanks for the some of the history on the mighty Hudson !!

I seem to remember some historical context, maybe it was on the potomac or chesapeake, but a protest of some sort which meant it was a political message to scuttle. How is the subaru holding up?
The forester is doing great almost at 200k miles. I just recently rebuilt the rear end and now the front is on its way out so i will be tackling the before long
I believe that those Barges were scuttled deliberately after a serviceable life . Nothing lasts forever hey . It's like looking back at my past relationships Dead in the mud 😂
