I'm kinda impressed he managed to piece together not just the intent behind _'Deadbeats',_ but also the one behind _'Brats.'_
Aruran can understand English quite well (his study and meme streams) often would interact with kaigai fans when he reads out any simple English comments in his live chat.
Our meming papa shouldn't be underestimated
I was impressed that he came up with "Bandead" which is a great pair of puns.
I loved that he had enough grasp to get the deadbeats thing
He has a very good comprehension of how certain words in English can be used for jokes, or play-on-words, to the point I'd back Aruran to understand an English joke from a linguistic level moreso than some people I know who've spoken it their entire lives. It's always a treat to see him break it down in real time to make sure he understands it, and he's almost always spot on with understanding why the jokes/puns/memes work.

The biggest irony right now is that Ina (excluding Sana) is the only HoloMyth and overall HoloEN member who has not played HoloCure.

Between internet troubles, house hunting, multiple art intensive projects, Myth's official 3D, sharing in her good friend Sana's struggles, traveling for mocap recording and off-collabs, and some throat issues, she might have just missed the big wave of HoloCure. And since then, there have been many other trends in Hololive that get more attention among the talents, like Stray and now Rust. Also she only did one stream on Vampire survivors, so it might just not be the genre for her.
He easily undertood the english nuances and reference of the names.

These dudes from holostars have all my respect they get overlooked a lot but have such big hearts. They have no I'll feelings about it and continue to support all the girls in any way they can. I'm happy some of the girls collab and interact with them at times.
I always feel bad when I hop into their streams and see it’s only got a crowd of like 2-300 people. More so now with the EN guys pulling in the big numbers too. But they keep at it and big props to them for it!
They don't have a lot of clippers and translators and i don't know japanese so i don't know anything about them but I'm sure they're great. The EN dudes are really fun tho

He's from Stars 1st generation, the second batch of debuts for that gen, early Sept 2019; 4th Gen was late December 2019 through early January 2020. As for Cure; devs have indicated they intend to get the entire agency into the game; screenshots of worktables show Stars has a tab. They're, at least for now, in for a long haul with their desired scope and scale for the game.
Hololive Gen 4 debuted after Holostars Gen 2 and since Aruran is Gen 1, yeah he is the senpai

Mori Calliope as a name alone contains four or five references or plays on words that I know of.
(For one thing it means “Forest Forest” and forests can be associated with death)
Also Mori is a spanish word for Death as well. Its a 4 letter name, and 4 is associate with death by Asians, or an unlucky number just like 13 for western.

Also a calliope is a musical instrument (that weird steam organ you see at a circus or fair) but also a godess of music. I could go on and on.

(east asians in general love to "explain the joke". to the point where comedy movies have subtitles explaining the joke in case you didnt get it. So being subtle with humor is an english language thing.)

This was such a joy to watch! Aruran seems like a really fun guy to watch. I'm especially glad for the Eng-subs because my Japanese is still below rudimentary.

Yeah, he likes to do streams where he has chat teach him about things like English slang, memes, etc...There was even one where we were teaching him about western comics, though more generally speaking the kind you'd see in the sunday paper.
