Does anyone know the name of the OST that starts at 14:25?? It also plays in ep 11 when the party is leaving Graf Granat's town. (Definitely not misusing the power of pinned comments to find an answer :D).
They had very sheltered childhoods so it makes sense. Stark went from growing up in a village of warriors where PDA was probably not very prevalent to living with just Eisen alone in the woods. Fern was orphaned at a young age and then raised by an elderly priest in the woods outside the Holy City, so she probably saw even less PDA than Stark.
The "tiny tools" gag is theorized to his brother's attempt at making things so inconvenient that he'll get fed up and go on the adventure he's always wanted.
hehe this is a fun theory to be sure but I like that these two got the actual joke about the small items, I think they may be the first reactors I've seen to get it.
But on a more serious note, I just wanna put out there that I think the shot of Stark reeling in that big fish near the end was symbolic to them, the party, reeling in a "big fish" by getting Sein to join up with them. I've never seen anyone mention this, but I like to think that's what it's hinting at. 🙂
I loved the open with the mud pit and Frieren just watching him sink as he tells his tale. The 10 years as a positive to Frieren is a nice view that I didn't notice before. The flashback with Frieren echoing Himmel's line was great. Can't wait for next episode!
About the flowers and the field of flowers spell: When Flamme taught her the spell and Frieren create a field of flowers at Flamme's grave it was all white flowers. In the 1000 years she's added different flowers and colors to the spells.
A thing that will help you is to understand that when Sein talks about "older women," he's using the specific term "onee-san." It literally means "older sister" in Japanese but it's generally used as a polite-ish form of address for any woman slightly older than the speaker. BUT: it's also a specific character archetype - Flamme had major onee-san energy even when she was relatively young and adopted Frieren, for example, and a character you will meet later (Methode) is an amazing onee-san. Frieren, despite being one of the oldest women alive, has very little of that energy, at least on the surface. Sein is using the term in the specific archetypal sense, but the other people in the show don't seem aware of it - they're interpreting his word choice in a more general way. If you know that going forward, it will save you some potential confusion, or at least enhance your understanding of what's happening on-screen. It's amazing to me how many reactors on YT, despite being big anime fans, don't seem aware that this is a thing (like how Himmel became tiny as an old man - it's a classic trope to which these youngsters today seem completely oblivious). 😉
@@B3RyL It would never occur to me to think of Methode as a grandma-type character. I could see "mommy" in that creepy sexualized way people use the word, but she's not a motherly character in general. Something tells me you'd take one look at me IRL and call me "jiji" - maybe even throw in an edgy "yare yare" for good measure. 😅
The swampy sounds of Seins footstep is so awesomely dumb xD Stark from Eisen: We can tough out Poison! (i love how big Eisens Eyes was in the flashback.. xD) Fern from Heiter: Alcohol is the best medicine! Frieren from Flamme: Outdated seduction technique thousand years old (how proud Frieren says that she is a elf and that she is old xDD)
My new favorite reaction channel. I might finally get around to watching FMAB so I can watch your reactions and get the most out of them. Love Is War is also one of my top faves so I hope you get around to that one sooner or later.
@@sergejg9627 I don't know if this was the author's intent, but it's a classic D&D trope - people make their characters orphans because it makes a clean separation between "backstory" and "current story." If characters have living families, that complicates their adventuring lives. People with stable home lives probably don't become adventurers very often. 😅
I love Frieren being a little troll at the beginning up until the moment Fern shows up. It's like with her little smiles when she's shown running away from stuff with Fern given barely any warning. She has this weird little sense of humor when it comes to dangerous situations. It shows that despite her more quiet initially serious seeming demeanor, she definitely fit in well with the other very strong idiots in her old party.
Apparently the author of Frieren said in an interview he originally wanted to do a gag manga in a fantasy world but his editor convinced him to do something more traditional. Explains why the jokes hit so well.
I can't wait for the next episode 🙂 Man, since I started watching your reactions, this has become one of my favorite reaction channels. If you accept an anime suggestion for the future, I think you'd really like 86: Eighty-Six or The Apothecary Diaries, if you haven't watched them yet.
The opening scene has such artistic awkwardness only grown up would understand. Also Sein playing cool reflects how he's pretending to be OK when he is not OK with his village life. The tiny tools really add contrast to his big adventuring dreams, which is funny and deep at the same time. This episode really has many layers as Sein is😅
Talking about "flower of the week": I think it was the studio that did Made in Abyss, where they had a Flower of the Week, anecdotally. I dont remember where i heard that. Edit: I found it: Canipa effect talked about that in his Made in Abyss Video. No, this isnt a recommendation for Made in Abyss. Its one of the best series ever, but it deals with themes that aren't for most people. Watch A Place further than the Universe.
Right at the end of the episode Sein asks Frieren what is the end goal of their journey, to which she quickly replies "Heaven". Some might say it's a coincidence, but the name 'Himmel' directly translates from german to... Heaven. Knowing how subtle and meticulous this show is, i highly doubt this sort of line would be a convenient coincidence. Can't wait for your reaction to the next episode!
There are four main reasons why I can't die. ・How will this work end? ・How will One Piece end? ・Watching the Demon Slayer movie trilogy ・Being with my parents at the end I'm Japanese, but I'm not exaggerating.

"No tears will be shed over Frieren again," she lied as easily as she breathed.
LOL right?
they are not ready for episode 14
It could easily become a channel catchphrase!
Nice Kaguya Sama reference :)
there's easily 3-4 more moments I choked up the first time I watched this season
Fern and Stark are too pure for this world. The fact they thought blowing a kiss was "too sexy" is adorable.
They had very sheltered childhoods so it makes sense. Stark went from growing up in a village of warriors where PDA was probably not very prevalent to living with just Eisen alone in the woods. Clothes dissolving potions and the deadly air kiss... Flamme certainly taught Freiren more than just combat magic 😂
Flamme understood her little girl well. She was trying to arm her clueless elf with the means, but Frieren is so slow.
"No tears will ever be shed over Frieren again"...sure...
they don't know what's waiting for them. :)
"No tears will ever be shed over Frieren again" just before episode 14… good luck with that 😂
"no tears will be shed over frieren again"
We will see about that
The entirety of the budget went into the battle animation of episodes 9&10, which is why we had the small tub and sickle in this episode. 😉

@@Ichigoku15 Totally! There's a similar scene at the start of ep2 with Frieren encouraging Fern while fishing.
Gotta wait for the blu-ray for normal sized tubs and sickles. Great catch about the fish detail, we didn't pick up on that.

About the flowers and the field of flowers spell:
When Flamme taught her the spell and Frieren create a field of flowers at Flamme's grave it was all white flowers.
In the 1000 years she's added different flowers and colors to the spells.
It always shocks me how many things I pick up on a new watch along, I totally misses this one!
When you realize why Frieren say, "information about plants is enough payment" to the botanist for cleaning Himmel's statue.
Oh I can't wait for epi.14 🤣

Methode's onee-san energy is very powerful.
knowing about this before watching Frieren made it so much funnier because I knew instantly that Frieren was far from what Sein wanted

I don't know why, but that generic cartoon chomp sound when the snake bites Stark always gets me.
that sound instantly on the scene cut is just perfect comedic timing
the slide whistle when Frieren threw her kiss really sold how sexy it was 😂
