UA-cam must have blocked it for copyright in some countries, you can watch it here on my vimeo page along with my other analysis vids. hope this helps: vimeo.com/55468331
Darren - MUST SEE FILMS Try to get that ban reversed if it's even possible, that vid is a staple of yours and I'm sure a lot of Americans would love to come across that vid and in turn enjoy all your other videos.
I'm trying to write my first short film and I'm taking a lot of inspiration from Tarantino and his very smart dialogue scenes. This was a huge help in realizing where my characters are and what kind of mood they are in- informal vs. formal. Very interesting and well put-together
Tarantino is such a genius entertainer. He is one of those great people that make life worth living. I could watch one of his movies every day and not only not get bored but still enjoy them. 👏 brilliant
"All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts."
When Bill says "that's the costume Superman wears, to blend in with us" his elbow points to the Curl on the right. The Curl resembles the lock of hair Curling onto Superman's face. The Curl is not to be underestimated. Inspiring video.
This perfectly applies to the hateful eight as well. The whole chapter about the four passengers perfectly exemplifies the "playing a character" concept. Great work as always
Excellent video, the ending had me smiling. I learned things about movies I’ve watched 100s of times, and I’m excited to start my own project! Thank you!
Kind of off the topic here but as we are talking about Tarantino I would like to say something of that little scene at 8:50 with Hans Landa that is one of the greatest actors on this Tarantino's universe and one of my personal favorite characters in his movies. At that scene were he is talking with Aldo and Diane Kruger's character he already know that she is a traitress and he knows that the three ''italians'' are plotting with her. When he is constantly asking the name of the ''italians'' he actually is just testing how good they are with the language of each of them. With Aldo he asks several times and realize that he speaks Italian as well as Donny, but with Omar he only question twice, because he notes that Omar knows shit about Italian. It's so subtle and makes such a good comic scene.
your voice is so soothing and calming i wish u did asmr and if what u have to say didn't intrest me as much as it does i'd use your videos to fall asleep.
Good man, that was great. I read the script of pulp fiction yesterday and noted the "let's get into character" line especially since there talk of Honey Bunnie and Pumpkin taking on there stick up personas in the set directions. I was even thinking of maybe doing a video essay about it but there's no need now :)
Awesome, Im glad someone else noticed this too! Once I got that idea from his films, then I started to see it everywhere in his work, seems like quiet a common motif of his.
Katryon Kelly I agree- I think it would have sent him in a new direction if he kept along the road he started with Jackie Brown , but unfortunately people wanted another Pulp Fiction so QT chose instead to go with what grossed better.
Very nicely done Darren. I really liked your observation of the Reservoir Dogs breakfast scene and how it foreshadowed to the scenes in the garage. Also do you think it was a coincidence that Mr. Pink was the only one who didn't want to tip the waitress and was the only one who survived at the end. Maybe showing Pink not tipping showed the audience that he was suspect of everyone and everything around him and he was the first guy to realize that someone was a rat.
Sean McDougall Yeah love that point about Pink, its also funny how pink was the cheapest at the lunch but SPOILERS, but he was the only one to get away with the money.
Im not sure, i always assumed he got away, its kinda open at the end for his character, i guess it depends if you think that police are already there or arriving on scene in the last moments!
I just watched the end scene again and you can hear the police (after Mr. pink leaves the warehouse) saying stuff like "get down on the ground" in the background. Also love your channel, I only discovered it today which makes me sad because it's great.
Oh yeah, i kinda remember that, so he must get caught then and the rest are left to battle it out. Thanks man, just uploaded a video compilation of some of my favourite music in film and now trying to finish a video about Finding Nemo that I'm really excited to share!
Amazing video! The lead up and draw out of anticipation until the action or even non-action is a classic move. It works in all and any genre. I really like how you put a spotlight on that Jackie Brown scene with the split screen. That Depalma-esque scene worked well in Kill Bill too but this one was better. Talk about suspense!
My personal favorite example of this informal vs dramatic character theme is Lt. Hicox in Inglourious Basterds. I believe that scene in La Louisane shows the greatest contrast.
Oscar Uzcategui Yess!! thats such an awesome scene, i like the Chris Walken scene in True Romance, but you know he's bad from the start, the reversal in Basterds is so great!
When YT identifies that you are using copyright material then it runs adds on your videos whether you want them of not. If I could take the cash and change this first title card I would.
haha, cool. I'm still getting a handle on YT's changing controls over ads/revenue vs. when people don't turn off monetization in the Video Manager, etc. Thanks.
Yeah its really tricky, most of the time I leave the monetisation on but if a video gets flagged by the system then you can't earn any cash on it. Not like its a lot anyway, but thats the general jist.
Does it make more sense to think of dramatic dialogue as ANY time characters interact with each other? Even in "low stakes" situations, I imagine all people put on masks, and the only time we're truly "informal" is when we're by ourselves.
Nice argument you make here, but come on man this video is such a pain to listen to! The volume goes up and down all along and you're forced to balance it by always changing the volume of your device. There's software to do it before releasing the video. Just my advice.
Controversial Opinion I have - Tarrantino dialogue is unrealistic and preachy. Characters are the same. That Kill Bill analysis about Superman, for instance, is sheer nonsense for anyone who has read the DC Comics of Superman. He grew up here. He IS Clark Kent.
The foreshadowing is too strong in the opening scene of RD. U get to know who is the real rat when Joe asks who didn't throw a buck and Mr. Orange immediately points Mr. Pink didn't. Damn QT Genius
Thanx for all your nice work, but please stop talking so quietly. You sound like you are in constant fear of waking up your mom. Speak up! Your points are good!
Nah, Madsen's character in Reservoir Dogs was supposed to be Vincent's brother. So the prequel was going to be a cross over between Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs
Really cool and interesting vid man, but you sound like you're about to fall asleep while narrarating haha. It's hard to get people excited about something you're interested in if you don't sound like you're enjoying it. But really, great video.
4:25 this fans is prime example of OVER ANALYZING! this distant camera position was chosen simply because it looks great, unique and puts the audience in the scene as a spectator. that's all it is folks
Not to get political, but this seems to be one of the underrated notes that Tarantino purposely included regarding violent films that he's recently mentioned on the View.
Here is another video essay on Tarantino that I loved from NOW YOU SEE IT, enjoy: ua-cam.com/video/-sLV-UzASMg/v-deo.html
accidentally ended up watching the entirety of Reservoir Dogs again after just trying to watch the diner scene
Harrison Tong Iv had that exact same thing happen, and with Goodfellas too.
Darren - MUST SEE FILMS Darren, where did your There Will Be Blood vid go? I watch it multiple times and I'm jonesing for it right now, what happened?
UA-cam must have blocked it for copyright in some countries, you can watch it here on my vimeo page along with my other analysis vids. hope this helps: vimeo.com/55468331
Well that's too bad, it's among your best, anyway thanks a lot for the link I'm going to listen to it right now.
Keep up the great work man, cheers.

jackie brown had such a chilled vibe mostly because of the soundtrack and the humor, easily my favourite qt film
dude dude it's so fuckin underrated, one of Sam Jackson's smoothest performances ever
I said the same thing 😂
I absolutely loved Jackie Brown, I have it on DVD and watched it countless times. 😂
Tarantino is such a genius entertainer. He is one of those great people that make life worth living. I could watch one of his movies every day and not only not get bored but still enjoy them. 👏 brilliant
Agreed! Such a greta filmmaker and an amazing entertaining and passionate artist!
Im with you
"All the world's a stage,

UnitDave Love it, and totally agree.
Shakespeare was a smart man.
Shakespeare . All day . Any day . 💓💓
I love you, Tarantino.

My English teacher asked me to write a story and I ended up watching this
Excellent video, the ending had me smiling. I learned things about movies I’ve watched 100s of times, and I’m excited to start my own project! Thank you!
My congratulations on the achievement of finding a picture of Tarantino I haven't seen before - a real nice one at that.
Brian McInnis Thanks!

Ayrton Sena Yeah totally agree, it makes for a really funny moment and also a great like character point!! such a smart film.
your voice is so soothing and calming i wish u did asmr and if what u have to say didn't intrest me as much as it does i'd use your videos to fall asleep.
Absolutely amazing, thank you for making these videos! aaaand i'm subscribing.
This blew my mind!

Interesting too as it seems he got into to his worlds with his experiences as an actor, helps you see the nuts and bolts a bit
Yeah it definitely feels like he drew from his experience as an actor! Defo!
brilliant analysis as always mate. keep it up
***** Thanks Joe, got another one hopefully coming this weekend!
Strawberry Letter 23....Nice :)
I know, such an awesome song!
Slopok The Bastian surgical song, means business!!
Awesome analysis. Also its nice to see that I'm not the only one who finds Jackie Brown underrated.I think its easily one of his best films.
Katryon Kelly I agree- I think it would have sent him in a new direction if he kept along the road he started with Jackie Brown , but unfortunately people wanted another Pulp Fiction so QT chose instead to go with what grossed better.

Sean McDougall Yeah love that point about Pink, its also funny how pink was the cheapest at the lunch but SPOILERS, but he was the only one to get away with the money.
Aren't there police outside the warehouse at the end? I always thought that Mr. Pink was either shot dead or arrested by them.
Im not sure, i always assumed he got away, its kinda open at the end for his character, i guess it depends if you think that police are already there or arriving on scene in the last moments!

This is a very good use of UA-cam..
Amazing video
Thanks man! Exciting that Tarantino is actually making a new film right now!
There's a scene that reminds me of this in Power Rangers RPM, where the Red Ranger goes, "We're action heroes."
Jackie Brown is so underrated fully agree. Just rewatched it, so good movie!
Thank you!
great analysis!
***** Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
OH MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN yOU started the video with Brothers Johnson from Jacky Brown!!!! That was an epic move in itself.
Why don't you analyze how to make your audio levels match
No censorship, please - least of all on a Tarantino analysis. No excuses.
Brian McInnis As much as i love Sam Jackson delivering all kinds of dialogue, i just need to be respectful and responsible with what I'm sharing.
Awesome Darren you do you:)
Yeah strawberry letter 23 babyyyyy
I know! Thats my jam!
Nice channel, instant sub
Thanks man, appreciate the support! got a new video coming on Monday!
MUST SEE FILMS Look forward to it
Perfect explanation
What is the name of starting music
Love movies.... love these
We've been waiting for you to do Tarantino, :-)
Derrion Brown I know iv been waiting to tackle his films for ages, there is so much going on in Pulp Fiction, this just scratches the surface.
What’s the name of the outro song for the video?
ua-cam.com/video/Nd3yDoOyvbY/v-deo.html. Cissy Strut (1969) . Its from Jackie Brown, but not one the soundtrack. Awesome song.
would love to know name of the music playing at beginning of video, know i heard it before but cant remember where or what it is, any help ? thanks
the song at the start is strawberry letter 23 by the brothers johnson. So awesome!
you say at 0:02 that this is a non-profit video... so, you turned off monetization, right?
When YT identifies that you are using copyright material then it runs adds on your videos whether you want them of not. If I could take the cash and change this first title card I would.
haha, cool. I'm still getting a handle on YT's changing controls over ads/revenue vs. when people don't turn off monetization in the Video Manager, etc. Thanks.
Yeah its really tricky, most of the time I leave the monetisation on but if a video gets flagged by the system then you can't earn any cash on it. Not like its a lot anyway, but thats the general jist.
great video, the audio level difference between your narration and the clips is too high though
Zebrom I know, ill need to get the balance better in upcoming video, I'm always worried about it being too quiet lol.
Very fascinating
Does it make more sense to think of dramatic dialogue as ANY time characters interact with each other? Even in "low stakes" situations, I imagine all people put on masks, and the only time we're truly "informal" is when we're by ourselves.
What song is in the beginning
Strawberry letter 22, you're welcome!
is it like the facade and then the real self?
No one writes as well as Quentin, and if you ask me about his characters, think of Hans Landa, which is the best character Tarantino has ever written.
interesting points very very interesting points =D
thejoker0123 Thanks, was great going through Tarantino's films again.
your welcome and cool =D
Darren - MUST SEE FILMS agreed. do you know the channel alt shift x?
Andrew Manford No, is it good, iv have a look, thanks for sharing!
Got me... Subbed
Nice argument you make here, but come on man this video is such a pain to listen to! The volume goes up and down all along and you're forced to balance it by always changing the volume of your device. There's software to do it before releasing the video. Just my advice.
You haven't done a film analysis of the master have you? Brilliant movie
Nvm I just found it and I'm gonna watch it now! Your videos are great man
+Dustin Duczek here you go man, just incase: vimeo.com/96814166
is this an asmr video?
Thanks
Controversial Opinion I have - Tarrantino dialogue is unrealistic and preachy. Characters are the same.
That Kill Bill analysis about Superman, for instance, is sheer nonsense for anyone who has read the DC Comics of Superman. He grew up here. He IS Clark Kent.
saikat93ify unpopular but believable opinion
I approve
Yeah I do get that preachy vibe sometimes and also find that his dialogue can be fancy for the sake of being fancy and it just feels weird.
You're right.
+Jørgen Kjærsgaard Laursen
lol, maybe he is in constant fear of waking up your mum
QT should do a prequel of Pulp Fiction
He was going to, but Michael Madsen and John Travolta were too old
Madsen? He was supposed to play Vinny but he was shooting that awful Wyatt Earp.
Nah, Madsen's character in Reservoir Dogs was supposed to be Vincent's brother. So the prequel was going to be a cross over between Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs
Michael Mira-Lopez That would have been good. Call it Pulp Dogs . lol Kill Bill 3 will never happen of course .
Reservoir Fiction
.👑..
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Fix the audio.
Really cool and interesting vid man, but you sound like you're about to fall asleep while narrarating haha. It's hard to get people excited about something you're interested in if you don't sound like you're enjoying it. But really, great video.

I was able to record on the set of Tarantino's 2019 movie 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood', check it out: ua-cam.com/video/5i1RPiYMWAs/v-deo.html
stupidly. just saved you 10:18, you're welcome.
dominic de coco loooool
zero insight, just hot air. completely unhelpful video.
annoying vocals.
Mediocre.
Not to get political, but this seems to be one of the underrated notes that Tarantino purposely included regarding violent films that he's recently mentioned on the View.

Strawberry letter 22. Enjoy!
