90 days is quite an achievement!
Sub 24.30 will come. I found my 5k, 10k times naturally got quicker the more longer distance running I did.
Endure 24 sounds pretty cool too, good luck!

So true, I've gone from 28 minutes to happily running sub 24 by doing longer runs. The speed comes with strength that you can only get from putting in the miles

I think my streak* for the year is 4 days in a row soooo... WELL DONE on 90! Running every day is such a commitment, gj and very smart on the resting.

I love that feeling when you have to make a hard decision you don't want to make, but you know in the moment that it's definitely correct.
I'm doing well if I run a 5k in 40 mins, so my only goal is to get to the end - and if my watch pings and tells me I'm getting quicker than last time that's just a cherry on top!
Well done on the 90 days :)
    All the best mate

@@freddyrunsJust a touch of IT band bursitis. Doesn't hurt to run, but I know I'll aggravate it if I do. Just over 1 month to go to my marathon.🫤. Hopefully, I can ice it, compress it and anti inflammatory it better!
Worst case - I jog this one and sign up for my local marathon in October for round 2!

I've never understood the need to run everyday, mix it up by all means. The muscles need time to recover. See so many injuries for RED January. Rest days rule. Good luck with Endure

Wasn’t really a need for it mate, it was more about the challenge of it 😊

I think you'll find once you start training for the enduro24 the sub 24.30 will be eclipsed without you even knowing it. I think its a novel idea to run everyday but a more measured training program with longer purposeful runs and rest days will get you to where you want to go - keep up the great work.

Smart choice to knock it on the head. Endure 24 is a way bigger goal, I personally always have some kind of minor niggle but I suppose it comes with the miles for ultras, its nowing when to chill it back and take a day off, well done mate.

😂 throwing me under the bus there at the end for your trainer habit! (Dear Mrs Freddy, it’s not my fault! Your husband is an addict) but seriously mate hats off to you for doing the RED 90 and like you say the sub 24:30 can wait. Bigger fish to fry this summer! 💪

Running so many days consistently is no mean feat, totally superb effort and you're to be seriously commended sir! It's little wonder your legs are starting to feel it. 4.27 first km shows some serious 5k shape so the time will come no doubts at all. 26.30 with a bit of walking is far more than I am currently doing without walking. RESPECT!

There is 2 kinds of toughness for runners. One is, you are headed to a P.R. One mile to go, you are redlining and wheezing. You are in agony but you keep going. That is tough but what is tougher is you are running towards a P.R. and feeling great. Suddenly the new pain you hoped was gone is back. Should I push through it, or stop immediately and live to fight another day. So hard to stop, unless it's really bad, but just feeling something is wrong we must STOP! I salute you Freddy, it appears you have a long trail ahead of you in this life. Well done.

Great choice! You've got huge goals coming up, there's no point jeopardizing them for a park run. Let that niggle heal, and congrats on the 7:19 mile! I haven't run that fast since school!

Well done mate, to judge ourselves based upon an arbitary race time is pointless (yet stupidly adictive!) - lets judge oursleves upon the time (with family) we give ourselves in the future, by being better versions of ourselves. You did amazing, and you continue to inspire, spot on

Keep Training keep running and the progress will happen over time.
Don't forget the body enough rest. You don't have to run everyday. Running 3 times a week changes a lot and allows you to discover longer routes.

Well done, seems like very good choices.
I don't know if this is useful, but my parkrun experience was all about times for a while. However for a year or so now, my parkruns have been mainly about the social stuff and it's been cracking. If the times come as well then that's a bonus but it's almost like a nice extra rather than the defining part.

Mate, every day for 90 days is a massive achievement and you’re probably due a rest to be honest. The time you run after walking several times is still better than my PB by a fair way. At the end of the day being able to say you run every day for 100 days and set a sub 24:30 isnt as important as being fit and ready to do what you love doing year round. Stay healthy, stay fit and stay in the game mate. Well done!

Wise to stop as soon as it starts feeling like a chore and the body says no. I had a 1337 (sic!) day geocaching streak and hated it in the end. Took me months to find my geocaching mojo again. And as a beginner I inadvertently had a like 4 or 5 day running streak once (3 to 8 kms each iirc) and my body basically shut down. I listened to my body took some days off, fully recovered only to PB later on in life :-). Good luck on all attempts whatever length!
