The moral of this video is to say, everyone is programmed to be a certain way in Hollywood. Once they stopped acting how they were supposed to, they got replaced
Everything with Jhene Aiko in it seems to be sooo underrated. She seriously is an incredible artist and deserves more. So passionate, so creative, she's fantastic. She's been quite successful but she just deserves more. I hope Twenty88 prospers more. It deserves to.
The music video Out Of Love, or the entire story of it, is this: Two actors are in love and live together (not sure if they are married or not, does not exactly matter). At the beginning of the story, in the opening, they go to an award ceremony. While they go together, they are dressed to the nines, also covering up their flaws and the purity of what is the truth. Their eyes flash red during the ceremony. Red being jealousy, anger, and sexual desire. Immediately following are separate flashbacks to times they slept with other people or cheated on one another during their relationship. But then also, their eyes flash white (Jhene Aiko's character especially when she gives her speech). White means love and forgiveness and truth. They go back to their place and have sex. The sex is all wrong- the overseer, the woman in the silver armored suit is watching them with a camera for the world to see. Or perhaps the world is seeing through this camera for what they try to be. Eyes flash red again in this scene when their sexual intercourse has finished. They are angry, upset. Not happy. The scene changes again and they are at work. They play two actors in a rescue mission, as he rescues her from her captivity. They have to take 4 or 5 different takes because the two lead actors cannot get over their personal shit to get through the scene. Even though the scene ends wonderfully and the director is excited, both parties are still upset at each other. The next day they have an interview. The interview is going great until everything comes tumbling out. The girl could not hold back any longer and let it all out. The boy is equally as furious and both are blaming each other for their inconsistencies in the relationship. The boy has the last word and the girl cannot stand it and walks out. The silver armored chick drives them home. She is watching them vigilantly. The boy initiates reconciliation. Girl does not want it. Then, minutes later, she tries to forgive him and apologize. But now, he does not want it. The girl is frustrated and screams, surprising their chaffeur/ witnessor, and the car halts. The girl leaves the car and runs. The boy runs after her and finds her collapsed on the ground, hauntingly quiet, upset. He reaches out to her and they look at each other-- white eyes flash-- in this moment they understand and sympathize with one another wordlessly. But the silver armored girl turns the corner and marches up to them, reseting everything. It appears the couple's bodies have shut down, though it is unclear whether it is the outsider's, or other's, doing...or them themselves. But the third person in this, the silver armored woman, is the one to reprogram them. She has seen everything between them and resets it to the beginning-- like the first scene, where we see made up Jhene and Sean...now the picture frames hold a plainer, more normal looking Jhene and Sean. The two lie beside each other in their bed, and when their eyelids open, they are white- truthful, communicative, and posses love. Starting over without the makeup, the third eye/ person, and complicated messes of the world.
I know that Big Sean and Jhené may not be together anymore but I truly hope as professional as they can come together and make another Twenty88 project
It's been 4 years and i am still in Love with this project, It's give me Black Mirror vibes, i love it ! I hope they'll work again on a second twenty88 album ! I'm ready for it Big Sean and Jhene Aiko !!
Most underrated collaboration ever... They should have achieved so much with this! Playing this in 2020 like it came out yesterday. Wish they could do something like this again in the near future.
@@janiceehairston2892 basic? Have you seen the state of rap these days? It’s ran by a bunch of gangsta’s who talk about money, bitches, cars, jewellery, guns & materialistic things that make them sound like they have no excitement in life beyond things they can buy with money. I haven’t listened to Big Sean too much but he definitely isn’t “basic” you can just tell from this masterpiece that he is a very intricate musician, he is actually talking about a story & something that is from life experiences & can be found from with in, not to mention the production & intelligence behind the creation of this song. If you think this is basic then I wonder who you listen to because they must be exceptional.
That was incredible. I think the silver/grey eyes represent truth and love.. they were connected when they both had those eyes. When they each received their award and the other was lusting over someone else, one's eyes were silver and the other red - disconnection. When they were having sex, eyes turned red - it felt good physically but there was no love - disconnection. And at the end.. both of their eyes were silver/grey, the love between them resurrected, you could see it in the way they were with each other - connected. Just feels like there's a play on truth and love and lust and fame.. that's my take. Often people get so caught up in lust, fame and greed, and forget what's real.
I think the meaning of this video obviously has the straight forward "love issues" theme going on which is apparent. But the actual storyline explaining the robot around jhene and sean ? I think a robot as we all know is something we correlate with heartless alot. I think the robot is using humans as experiments! (read me out lol)... notice at the end the robot starts with a new set of people when jhene and big sean ultimately come together truly in the end... the robot then "shuts them down". I think the robot is using human couples as experiments to see what love is and its true meaning and once it gets all it can from a couple it shuts down that couple and puts the next one in a environment it has created for them to further observe. Basically looking for patterns in love and see all the different lanes it can take thus helping its own understanding of love and maybe thus teaching it how to love.
Wow I thought maybe the robot was there to remind them of who they are. At the end I was thinking the robot was having them love each other over again but in different bodies because that's just how it's supposed to be. I loved your interpretation though!
I think this video is about the exploitation of the sexual nature of celebrities etc and how they're forced to be more appealing to the public eye. At the 'XXX' award ceremony you can see Jhene and Sean trying to reach out and foster other relationships with other people but their "programming" (that red eye glitch thing) prevents them from doing so as they're forced to be together in the public's eye. You can even see that their relationship is immensely problematic and while they want to love each other, their relationship is grounded on sex etc. -- The robot is finally a symbolic representation of the pressure of society, holding the camera to their lives in the bedroom (paparazzi invading the intimate and personal lives of celebrities) and when the duo "shut down" at the end of the film, it's them succumbing to societal pressure and giving up the "lives" they've worked so hard to portray to the public. Even after they're shut down and replaced by a new couple, a new version that tries to replicate the lives Jhene and Sean have lived (newer celebrities being compared to older ones, essentially taking their place). Very moving and well thought out video overall though.
I used to listen to this with an ex . I felt so in love. We were together for 5 years. Had a dramatic bad break up. Now I’m married to another and we have a baby. Nothing is forever
Damn this is a masterpiece, on the real. The visuals are nuts and how all these different songs and beats flow so nice and all relate to eachother. They took alot of time on this, wow. Probably some of the best work by Sean and Jhene no doubt.
The full version of the last song 'London Bridges' Big Sean says "we weren't meant to be but we have to be" and asks who deep their love is actually and it kind of sets the tone for the whole visual. The media, fans, music labels, want their relationship to be more than it is and it's almost all a publicity stunt at the beginning but then they actually fall for each other and learn what love is forgetting that it was all just meant to be a staged stunt the entire time and at the end they're reminded of it and it's just cold cut onto the next couple.
Twenty88 was a massive part of my summer in 2016. The music was so unique and refreshing, I could relate to the lyrics and vibe so much and the songs were the perfect soundtrack to the best summer of my life (so far). It's so sad to see the project not carried on but I am so thankful that it exists. Even though it was short-lived, all good things must come to an end.
This album was me & my wife's jam; we were fiancées then. And at 22/23 we had been thru the break up & make upd for yrs & yrs. And this album talked to us. It's crazy that it's been 6 yrs & we've been married for 5 & this album still sounds great to us & brings back memories. We just had to watch this joint again...outta nowhere
I love you so much for all you have done in the past to be useful to have you come home to a different place of my own I have a few hours to talk to you on my feet to talk to you on my math exam is in a minute to go out to you in a minute when I'm back on this and let him my best thing for a couple days everyway around and love to all you have the right and all that stuff to make a payment and all of your flight number and airline ticket to Ride to be useful
They were randomly in my ziplining group during my trip to Hawaii. They are a very cute couple! I think I was the only person to recognize, def chatted a lil but just let them enjoy their couple outing. Sean a down to earth dude. Support them and their music!!
Simple explanation for the video as it appears there isn't a cohesive answer in the comments.... Fame and money brought these two together, but at the beginning true love did actually exist between theses two. However, over time the lifestyle that comes with being a celebrity tore them apart (infidelity, etc). As they are celebrities their relationship has been under the watchful eye. For the most part when things we're going well, the media was not apart of it, but when the media got involved in the talk show every thing came crashing down. The last scene displays the robot as the media. The media can build you up but be quick to tear down a relationship when it sees fit and replace you with the next trending "relationship goals type couple"
I'm not sure that the robot is just the media. When the robot was filming the sex scene I got the impression that the robot is the viewer - us. We watch and obsess over celebrities' lives and love lives, we follow (or drive) them from place to place. We also push them to perform certain roles. We get them to 'invite them into the bedroom.' The verses in the talk show (they nice) are the stress of living under the watchful eye, both the media and the constant audience. Sean's second one in particular does a good job of that. A lot of stress from a (unfair?) viewership, standard, and judgment. "They don't look at us like we real people." We, and the media, contribute. The last song could be a requiem or an actual real profession of love - strip away the audience and there is still love. I think the last moments of the reboot show how both the media and viewers in general are quick to latch on to and CREATE disastrous relationships and entertainment drama out of other people's lives. Desire is produced, and productive. The title is nice and can have many meetings. Falling out of love, something created or made out of love, running out of love (like them falling for others at the award ceremony)...
+Izzi Iz call me wack all you want but im not waisting money to buy stuff I get free. i signed up to watch this video, I cancled when it came on UA-cam. Theres no point of me having it lol.
This is one of the most slept on r&b projects and it irks my soul how folks gave Big Sean and Jhene no love for it. Every song is a banger and the overall messaging of this vide/songs is DOPE AF!! TWENTY88 stays on rotation for me… they did the damn thing… Deja Vu especially 😭😭😭🔥🔥🔥🔥
The ending is dope . Almost as if he's saying we're controlled by the Internet (social media) . It's all for show and entertainment. We could easily be replaced .
I think this video expresses what future relationships may be like and the robot represents the outside influences of relationships like social media, and government. in the future relationships will be built on telepathy and using it with the people close to us we will automatically know when we are being bullshited or being cheated on mentally because the connection is so close. That's why their eyes turned red when they felt the other person remenicing about their old loves. Me and my girl experience deep intuition and knowing of each other's thoughts and feelings
but not every relationship is built on telepathy... i think ppl get more and more dissconeted to their sooul an others and let ego take the lead.. sadly..
Twenty88 helped me through my breakup in 2016, I'll never forget the first time I heard "On The Way" I immediately looked for it and saw this video right after and mannn even though it was the worst breakup of my life I definitely felt like I was gonna get through it with this music
Oh Ma Gawd! When Jhene says "I'm from L.A where the sun's always shining, so a lot of people are shady" Gave me chills through my BODY! No wonder her and Big Sean are perfect together spiritually and lyrically!
This speaks to me on so many levels. From the giddy up puppy love, to feeling like they can’t even fix things knowing that they can’t live with out one another... not to mention fame and fortune adding to the fuel, with the constant eyes and pressure on you to keep your composure. Everything is a business now a days and it’s crazy that people’s lives are made into entertainment. All I’m saying is it always looks best from the outside, and if you take each video and not even over analyze it, but put yourself into their shoes you’ll get it. Well done, this shit iconic.
I’ve been listening to this album for the past few days and I’ve just come to the realization that even if you switch the order of the songs around the story is in a way still being told in chronological order. Let me explain my madness. If we’re starting off with “London Bridges” hence the lines “I don’t mean to sound hysterical but baby if you left it’d be a historical disaster” symbolizing when they were still in the beginning of the relationship when everything is still going good and they can’t stand being away from each other and the thought of them not being without one another in their eyes is as catastrophic as London bridge falling… Which is why they can’t wait to see each other.. Which is where “On the Way” comes into play. They both just had a long day and can’t wait to see each other which is why they ask questions like where you at? how far? And the answer to this is “2 Min Warning” which in this context can be seen as the conversation they’re having while one is on the way to the other as a verbal form of foreplay. And depending on whether or not they’re using their voices it can also be a form of sexting. This would then lead into “Push It” which is when the act of intercourse is being performed. After which considering how well they each performed during the act could determine how Jhene felt after it was all through. Considering if he only got his and she didn’t feel like he did all he could to please her (in every way including sexual) this could be another thing to tie in as to why Jhene could see Sean as “Selfish” which would lead to “Talk Show” in which after they finally express every feeling that they had they break up. Time passes and Sean initiates contact with Jhene again. Which leads to “Memories Faded” where they’re talking about all the memories that they have with one another and they’re reminiscing with each other. Which triggers their feeling for each other all over again. Which is where “Deja Vú” comes into the story. Given what Deja Vu means it’s safe to assume that the feelings that they have for each other now are what they felt when they first met before they started having their problems and way before their break up. Which is what gives them the feeling of Deja Vu because they’ve both been there before and it feels familiar to both of them. Twenty88 is not just a collection of songs that you can vibe to. But given the order of the songs it can give a whole new perspective to the story that they told. Either way though the story still talks about two star-crossed lovers who fell in love.. Then fell in lust..and fell out of love.. And back again only to realize they may not be able to get back together for the time being considering Sean’s verse in Deja Vu. Not only that but it explores the difference between lust and love aside the ideas of real love and fake love(being loved for what you have and the idea of who you can be instead of who you actually are) and the feeling of infatuation and how someone can be come something like a familiar stranger. And how a stranger can feel like someone you’ve known forever. Everything aside it is something that we can all relate to one way or another and I think everyone should support them for helping resurrect the lost art of telling a beautiful love story with charts tees who know they’re flawed and recognize their flaws as well as the flaws in one another but know that no one else can take the others place and stay committed to one another. Great job on this project Sean and Jhene it’s very well needed in a time where most music talks about drugs violence greed and lust. Thanks again
+Aishaaxn I write a lot of poems raps and stories so yeah I try to pay attention to detail and look at everything from at least 2 perspectives. Asides from the fact that I like to sing and listening to music 24/7 so I have some type of ear. But thanks for reading that long ass post of mine(we both know that shit is long af)😂😂😂😂 you're the real MVP 😊👏
So basically you can't live a real life in Hollywood if you want to keep a good reputation. TBH we never really see any famous couples feuding a lot like the non famous people do everyday. So if you do expose your bad like Sean and Jhene did on the talk show song, then they'll shut your career down which is basically their life which is why most celebs deal with it so they won't go broke.
If you break this down and analyze it for what it really is, and the message behind it, it's fucking dope. They compliment each other so great, I hope to see more from them, together or individually.
this here is a masterpiece next to jay z and Beyonce and y'all need to quit sleeping on them.the videos the music the wardrobe the lyrics oMG I fucking love these two together ....twenty88should be number one all over the world

For some reason I feel like this is how Jay and Bey relationship really is
BRUH yo. you could be right. these comments are fire
I be thinking this all the time.
+Queen EpicStory I think so too
Absolutely
ABSOLUTELY!
I used to listen to this with an ex . I felt so in love. We were together for 5 years. Had a dramatic bad break up. Now I’m married to another and we have a baby. Nothing is forever
Nothing lasts forever.
"Fuck is you saying? Who are you talkin to? Never called you a bitch, but who are barkin to?" I'm using this in almost every argument with a female.
factz
That bar was light. Actually one of his worse ones on the album
+wem meal how sway? Big Sean just gave a successful winning argument against a females in bars...
You obviously have bad taste in women then.
+Miceala O'Donovan and you obviously aren't helping me in finding a good taste in women aren't you?
Damn this is a masterpiece, on the real. The visuals are nuts and how all these different songs and beats flow so nice and all relate to eachother. They took alot of time on this, wow. Probably some of the best work by Sean and Jhene no doubt.
8:40 Sean don
Fxns truee🌊💞
Fxns FUCKIN TRUE. THIS IS REAL ART. REAL MUSIC.
Maihan Mom You are right
This is art. Like when I first heard 8:00 lost my mind
Burk Luca facts!!
2024 and still blasting this genius project!!
THIS IS THE MOST UNDERRATED PROJECT I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS
Twenty88 was a massive part of my summer in 2016. The music was so unique and refreshing, I could relate to the lyrics and vibe so much and the songs were the perfect soundtrack to the best summer of my life (so far). It's so sad to see the project not carried on but I am so thankful that it exists. Even though it was short-lived, all good things must come to an end.
This video...and the album behind is such a great representation of the dichotomy of man and women in the chaos of a relationship.
I love their chemistry💕
Me too😍❤
Cass Clavelli .....
Me Too...
Feel you !
Same here
So many sleep on this combo/album. The visual just makes me love them more.
Support them and their music!!
watching this after their break up makes it ten times realer.
This had me crying. What a beautiful piece of art
+Alexander Matlock thank you for interpretation I needed it
+Alexander Matlock Man, i always wanted to be able to understand and break shit down like that.
Great interpretation, I had close the same idea
I'm not sure that the robot is just the media. When the robot was filming the sex scene I got the impression that the robot is the viewer - us. We watch and obsess over celebrities' lives and love lives, we follow (or drive) them from place to place. We also push them to perform certain roles. We get them to 'invite them into the bedroom.'
The verses in the talk show (they nice) are the stress of living under the watchful eye, both the media and the constant audience.
Big Sean doesn't get the props he deserves he is mad talented I love him so ❤️❤️❤️
We need a part 2 tape they left me on a cliff hanger of a combo of great sounds.
Deja Vu is the best song honestly, deserves so much
yess
Two Minute Warning is my favorite.

+Izzi Iz call me wack all you want but im not waisting money to buy stuff I get free. i signed up to watch this video, I cancled when it came on UA-cam. Theres no point of me having it lol.
Big Sean is part of a rare breed of rappers who improve over time.
The fact that I’m still watching this all these years later and still loving it is crazy 🥹🫠💘
This is Album deserves alot more then a Grammy. Creative and different. That's what I like to see in two beautiful artists...
THIS ALBUM IS SO UNDERRATED OMG! I LOVE THEM😩
the chemistry is crazy!
Everything is just perfect , so obsessed with this.
agreed
Yes. Love it.
The ending is dope . Almost as if he's saying we're controlled by the Internet (social media) . It's all for show and entertainment. We could easily be replaced .
I think that's the point too
idgaf what anyone says. Big sean is going to be a legend. the guy is a great lyricist and we're watching a legend in the making.
2020 and they are together again
I was thoroughly entertained. The video and the songs are unique and dope as hell. Much props to the artist, concept and director.
agreed!
100!!!
100000!!!!👏👏👏
I think this video expresses what future relationships may be like and the robot represents the outside influences of relationships like social media, and government. in the future relationships will be built on telepathy and using it with the people close to us we will automatically know when we are being bullshited or being cheated on mentally because the connection is so close. That's why their eyes turned red when they felt the other person remenicing about their old loves. Me and my girl experience deep intuition and knowing of each other's thoughts and feelings
but not every relationship is built on telepathy... i think ppl get more and more dissconeted to their sooul an others and let ego take the lead.. sadly..
this makes ALOT of sense
I love this comment
jhene is so beautiful... I just cant get over it.. and her hair and make up omg... im actually speechless

this EP and short film puts me in a trance. thank you so much jhene X big what art
Twenty88 helped me through my breakup in 2016, I'll never forget the first time I heard "On The Way" I immediately looked for it and saw this video right after and mannn even though it was the worst breakup of my life I definitely felt like I was gonna get through it with this music
Twenty88 got me through my first break up ever! I remember quoting some of the song lyrics to get him to try n take me back lmaooooo 😅 so embarrassing
Tbh I think Jhene and Big Sean forming a duo is something refreshing in hip-hop. Not seeing too many mainstream artists do this. It's nice.
It's kinda disturbing how many times I've seen this video
Me too🤐
loool same 😌
It's just so great, you don't get sick of it.
Not enough!
same
"I used to see my future in your eyes like a crystal ball" ...amazing.
It's 2024 and this work of art is indeed still amazing.
2 Minute Warning is baeeee and Selfish is litt. twenty88 is slept on for reals
The word play in 2 Minute Warning is 🔥
“You got people in our business like U and I is…” HARD ASF
SLICKEST BAR IN THE VID.
This album so slept on
This will NEVER EVER GET OLD!! One of my Fav on my playlist....Twenty88
The next power couple, no question.
And I think 2017 will be a big year for them. They both have albums out!
MissMulatto do you know when jhenes is coming out??
Justin Hicks I thought nope and Lauren London were but they done=(
He cheated on her...
Great couple!
I always come back to this video. SO GOOD
when he says tf after that rant on the tv show appearance. makes me so weak.
😂😂 same!
😂😂😂
Me too!
Sameee 😂😂😂
lmaoaooaoo
Wow, you pay attention to detail.
+Aishaaxn I write a lot of poems raps and stories so yeah I try to pay attention to detail and look at everything from at least 2 perspectives. Asides from the fact that I like to sing and listening to music 24/7 so I have some type of ear. But thanks for reading that long ass post of mine(we both know that shit is long af)😂😂😂😂 you're the real MVP 😊👏
damn that was good!
Monique Andrea thanks 😊🙌 I know it's lengthy so thanks for reading it
You have an awesome eye for thing's!!👐👐
So basically you can't live a real life in Hollywood if you want to keep a good reputation. TBH we never really see any famous couples feuding a lot like the non famous people do everyday. So if you do expose your bad like Sean and Jhene did on the talk show song, then they'll shut your career down which is basically their life which is why most celebs deal with it so they won't go broke.
This was my soundtrack years back illegal in Quebec, Canada...still here in 2024
Deadass still watching this 5 times a day
If you break this down and analyze it for what it really is, and the message behind it, it's fucking dope. They compliment each other so great, I hope to see more from them, together or individually.
can you pls share your insight on the message of the video?
Heard the ep on Apple Music, amazing every song is addictive!
