Wow, you makes a mockery of it's arcade difficulty setting space shooter game on the hardest difficulty level the way you dance around enemy fire like a perfectly choreographed play/song/dance/etc. which made me giggle while my jaw dropped to the floor. The way you slithered like a snake just a hair above ground level knowing if you touch the ground you'd die kept me on the edge of my seat. This video is freaking hilarious!!! A+ for presentation!
The only thing that determines how fast a speedrun of this game can possibly be is the boss/mini-boss fights. Also, what's the point of not bothering to power up the missiles? And don't tell me it's because it's not necessary. It's not necessary to power up the speed that much, either, but that was done.
DarthMohammed Did missiles cause slowdown in this game when there are too many? I forget, but if they did that may be a reason to not upgrade them for the speedruns sake.
+DarthMohammed A lot of most Gradius player's habits cause lots of lag in this installment; using missiles and constantly shooting (most people just hold down the fire button) increases the number of sprites on screen and lags the game (enemy bullets do the same thing). Shields are bad too, as are the formation and rotating options that are in this game. A speedrun of this game is determined even more by lag than by boss fights.
Definitely one of the most entertaining TAS video's I've seen. Makes a complete mockery of the enemies.

not bad, and gave me a couple of laughs along the way ^.^
If only it were possible to do this.
Some of the things did here are posible, some other can only be pulled by or a TAS or a god XR
Even so there are more efficient ways to beat the bosses in this game, guaranteed. This run obsoleted the last TAS of this game by about two minutes.
Hitbox? What hitbox?

+Christian Bouchard do you not know what a tas is

I think you may be correct. Good point.

Why not missile or shield?
