Hey man, I'd been watching your videos, great job! I am buying an older boat (1985) with a mercruiser 3.0 just to learn about all of the components and how they work. I don't plan on rebuilding any engines anytime soon, but your series has been invaluable for me to navigate the DIY maintenance tasks. Thanks!

Got my old Merc 140 out, doing the leaky, oil pan gasket, engine mounts, timing cover, water pump, thermostat and riser gaskets and your videos have been invaluable to me!

I also have a rebuilt 3.0 in my project boat that developed an oil leak, this will help immensely! Not putting that engine back in until I know its perfect,Thanks again!

Great video. I plan on doing this with my 4.3 when I’m done rebuilding it. Sure don’t want to go through the trouble of sticking it back in the boat only to find something is wrong with it.

Hi Zach, awesome vids. Just a suggestion, I'd love for you to do a vid on installing an aftermarket "closed cooling" or freshwater cooling system, for folks who boat in saltwater or for those of us who hate winterizing and having to drain the block. Would it be a good upgrade to consider? Maybe talk about pros and cons. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Interesting suggestion! I haven't looked into that yet, but I too am curious about setting up a closed cooling system

I know this is an older video, but need one clarification on the wire harness jumpers. So you jumped (shorted) #5 and #6 together. That "turns on the ignition". What I don't understand is the (+) wire connection. If you run a wire directly from the battery positive terminal right to #7, it'll bump the starter? Thanks for a clear and understandably video

Did you permanently delete the power steering cooler from your setup? Or did you add it when you reinstalled the engine?

    HEY WHAT GIVES!? 😲
🤗I see nothing for the google link. However I did see and email so I am going email you a video with some questions. Cause I have watched the part of your video that pertains to my issues a few times. And the whole thing once.
Which btw I appreciate very much. And your video pops right up every time when I put anything pertaining to stand alone engines running outside and especially when I add marine to the search.
    Do you know.
So I am going to do what I can for which is like a bunch of comments. Cause I already 👍 and subbed a while back.
Ok first I know I am being presumptuous in all this but I guess I is what I is😁
So naturally I will refresh your memory with the email I send but just in case anybody has their two cents to add.
I have a 1971 24’ That I pulled the motor out of and I’m trying to sell because I’m going electric in case that said satisfies anybody’s curiosity.
I’m having trouble with the power to the I don’t know if it’s well as soon as I disengage the power to the starter it kills the power to the rest of the electronics also I’m not sure exactly how to hook up the alternator correctly and understand that if I do not and I run it it may ruin the alternator.
    Thanks. Luke
Email will be from Ryanflash at DEr gmail. Well close to that

Hi, sorry I don't see an email from you in my inbox.
      This link works: bit.ly/3ioavtQ
The start should not kill the power to everything else if the wiring matches.
I'm not sure about the alternator, I would think it should be if the wires are unplugged

Not a good idea to sit your battery directly on concrete. I always use a block of wood.

@@ZachsGarage1 Concrete doesn't discharge a battery. This myth comes from the early days of wood cased batteries absorbing moisture from concrete and causing warping and therefore acid leakage. Modern batteries have no issues with being stored on concrete.
