You want to have that extra attention on the living sensations of the body and also have an open attention of where you are in the space around you and to feel around you and that is what can produce more awareness
A super fantastic talk D! Very very useful ! Thanks. May be in old text , the fighting was referring with other non human things which they where dealing with in old time .. the cause of unhealthy mentalities and disease in their view! May be...
@LotusNeiGong you said in a video that tai chi was excellent for self-defense and here you say that it is useless in a cage. What distinction do you make between self defense and professional combat in terms of efficiency? Does this mean that tai chi is effective against a random guy but useless against a seasoned fighter?
The people who fight in a cage are trained for that particular environment. Obviously Taiji is no good in this particular setting and so no, Taiji is not designed for fighting if this type. Taiji folks are deluded if they think this is the case
@@LotusNeiGong Thanks for your feedback Sir. I'm just a new qi gong praticionner interest in discovering my true self , improve my health and curious about martial art ( I have experience in boxing and brasilian jiujitsu). This question regarding the effectiveness of tai chi in unarmed combat emerged in my mind after watching a video showing Huang xingxian against a renowned wrestler. This shows that at a high level tai chi is effective against a grappler, right?
Well, yes, but I am assuming strikes and so on were removed from the equation for the match? Just looked like stand up hand grappling to me. Plus, if Huang was materially capable, he also had white crane in his background prior to Taiji. My view is that Taiji practice makes anything better and if you are a fighter than it may improve that but if you are not a fighter then it has no base to improve upon :)
