- As usual, the mechanical monsters of the midway are the stars of this video, highlighted by a couple of newcomers, Vortex and Moonraker. I visited the fair three times this year to make sure to get footage of most of the midway rides (not all of the rides were operating on my first two trips.) Filmed July 26, 27 & August 2, 2013.
Wow this fair has a lot more rides than most amusement parks. I live in Cincinnati but would love to go up to Columbus to visit.
Thanks, my friend. I find that twilight is a great time film rides all lit up, as long as I can get the cameras to cooperate. For the most part the weather has been great this summer...don't want it to end!
I feel bad I couldn't make it, but Friday was the last day I could visit, not to mention I was already burned out! Ghoul City has to be the best fair dark ride I've ever ridden. Well done cheesy.

Great video, Coaster Bob! I was surprised to see that rides I had previously only seen in European videos were actually here in the U.S. You'll have to forgive me for that. I live in Indiana, where new rides are a very rare thing. Heck, if the Tilt-A-Whirl at the local fair has a fresh paint job, we consider it new, and reason to celebrate.
Awesome! I wish I could have ridden Vortex at night. It's cool you captured Moonraker running as I never saw it operate. I love the shots you took of the rides with the fireworks in the background. So, what do you say? Another helicopter ride in 2014? Keep with our tradition?

Probably a B&M inverted. I don't plan on being at the announcement because I have to work, but I'm sure there'll be a couple hundred videos of it!

Great rides at the OSF and as some one else has posted it was awesome to see some of those big Rides that you don't usaly see except in Europe. They still have us beat on Fairs

I surely do not want it to end either Bob. I live for the endless summers. Last winter in Massachusetts was horrendous. One of these years when the timing is right I am going to move to either San Diego or Florida. Then It will be summer all year round.
Just try to enjoy each and every hour of each day in August like I am doing. Heck, when summer has finally come to a painful close, I will still have your videos to remind me of it until next year~

Wish we could've ridden Moonraker. I kept track of when they shot off fireworks, so I could plan my shots ahead of time. Yes, most definitely we need to keep doing helicopter rides! Hope next year's ride is smoother.
I'm doing the Haunt this year and considering a visit to Kentucky Kingdom next season.
I've been on powersurge when it was in England loved the ride, typhoon i've been on but was called surf rider. The ride at 10:58 been on but was years ago. Been on a few of the rides that are likes these but in the UK :) loved ur video btw

I can only ride a few of these...most make me sick. I like the atmosphere at night. It's cool to just walk around.

I'll watch this in full tonight when I get home: it was too bad you couldn't come out Saturday with Josh and I but with three days previously at the fair, I can understand why. BTW, that two story dark ride, Ghoul City? Turns Ohio State Fair was the first time its run in years following an extensive rehab.

Last year, vortex only lasted one year which was 2013, experience was there last year as well but i dont think it was running

Yes, there was an accident a couple of years ago in North Carolina where some people fell out and were injured.
