With the introduction of YuMi, the world’s first truly collaborative dual-arm industrial robot, ABB Robotics is once again pushing the boundaries of what robotic automation will look like in the future and how it will fundamentally alter the types of industrial processes that can be automated with robots.
A play on words, YuMi signifies “you” and “me” creating an automated future together. The pizza shop here employs Indian workers on some visa program, they're clearly being taken advantage of but have no recourse. Take the dough, squash it flat, stretch it between hands (the only thing a robot would struggle with) rake it with a tool to put dimples in the dough, stretch it to fill a baking tray frame. Toppings, cheese, oven.
