Great list, John. I love Hammer. I’m glad you mentioned Peter Cushing’s unscrupulous portrayal of Frankenstein, I always loved how he played the character that way. 7 Golden Vampires is tremendous fun. Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde is a great take on the story, Ralph Bates was underrated. Fantastic list but how could you leave off Devil Rides Out??? 😉😁👍 I would like to do a response video to this in the next couple of weeks if you don’t mind

Cheers Bryn mate 😁😁 Cushing's Frankenstein is one of the best portrayal of an iconic Horror character 👏 Ralph Bates turns up a few times in Hammer movies which is great!! I had to miss out quite a few classics unfortunately to get my Top Ten! Yeah please do a response video to this Bryn I would love to see it mate 🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍

I am so glad "The Witches" is on your list, here in the U.S. it plays as "The Devil's Own" w/Joan Fontaine. I think the film has a real mood and atmosphere to it and came out around the same time as "Rosemary's Baby", when witchcraft movies were in vogue. I think it's cool that a couple of Hollywood Golden Era heavyweights like Ms. Fontaine in this, and Bette Davis in "The Nanny" teamed up with Hammer.

Cheers for watching 😊😊👍👍 yeah The Witches never gets the credit it deserves for me! It's got the lot but kind of doesn't connect like it should do unfortunately 🤔🥴 I think the casting was such a great part of it and I imagine when it came out no one expected them to be in a "b movie" Horror 😲😊 cheers again mate 🤩🤩👍👍

Yeah I totally agree, the movie isn't scary, but the atmosphere is where its at and the town has this strange air about it, which I really get a kick out of it 👌 thanks for watching mate 🤩🤩👍👍

As you know, I am a HUGE Hammer fan, John, and so it goes without saying that this video was right up my street! I absolutely loved it. Whenever I see the name "Hammer" in the title of a video, I am right in there watching before you can say "Jack Robinson"! Very pleased to see you included a few of the Frankenstein and Dracula films there. And I certainly echo your views on how villainous and ruthless Peter Cushing was in that first Frankenstein movie. And he was even worse in FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED, which would definitely be in my own all time top 10 Hammer films. I must admit, I was quite surprised to see you did not include the first Lee Dracula movie from 1958 in your list, as that, side by side with Curse of Frankenstein, really started the ball rolling for Hammer in terms of their awesome dominance of the British horror movie genre. Having said that, though, I am sure you love that first Hammer Dracula film, and I totally agree with your No. 1 choice: TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA. Wow, what a movie! That part where Lord Courtley tries to make the three decadent businessmen drink Dracula's foul blood is one of the most creepy moments in all Hammer history! That movie, together with DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE, ranks right up there in my list of most watched Hammer horror movies. Great video, John, and you have certainly inspired me to do a video of my own Top 10 Hammer films (although, admittedly, I know just how much I have sung the praises of Hammer studios already in a lot of my previous videos, but such is the extent of my love for all those fantastic movies that I could talk about them till the cows come home). Great video, John. Thank you for sharing.

Yeah Alan, I know you love your Hammer movies Alan :-) Yeah Peter Cushing just gets worse and worse as the franchise goes on!!! wow what a piece of work he is mate!!! :-o Yeah I love all the Dracula and Frankenstein movies, was hard to leave some of them out!!!! I love to see Hammer videos too Alan, I would defiantly check out the video when you do it Alan!! Cheers mate!!!

Cheers John. Scream Factory are doing a fantastic job too with their Hammer horror Special Edition releases. The next one they are releasing (although not quite in time for me to treat myself for Christmas, unfortunately) is THE VAMPIRE LOVERS, which is another a huge Hammer favourite of mine. You might like to check out the preview of the slip cover too, as it looks awesome!

Dracula AD 1972 is just a total classic, absolutely love it!!
Breathtakingly beautiful Stephanie Beecham (who still looks good now in her 70's) and yummy Caroline Munro at their very best!! WOW!!
Don't know if you're a Geordie or from Sunderland, I must tread very carefully there as I know there's no love lost,
but I think you might agree that the very best film from the early 70's without any doubt whatsoever is 'Get Carter!!'
    Just never gets boring!!
I loved all the Amicus short story movies, just wish somebody would try that format of four short horror stories with the 'usual' wraparound
which 'The Sixth Sense' totally ripped off as it's twist!!
Honestly, why did anybody think that was unique??
They must never have seen 'Vault Of Horror,' 'Tales From The Crypt,' 'Dr. Terror's House Of Horrors' or 'Torture Garden!!'
Anyway, loved the video and have subscribed as a result!!
Keep up the great work my friend!!
All the very best from a Scouser who absolutely loves the North East and the people from there!!

Hey Andre 😁😁👍👍 thanks very much for subscribing and yeah the Geordie/Makem rivalry is strong here 🤣🤣 I'm a Geordie Andrew (the best northerner 😉😆) I agree with those stars! Caroline Munro is top of my Hammer list mate 😁😁👌👌 it's mad that the Amicus portmanteau movies aren't more of a bigger thing! In these days of UA-cam shorts you would think they were fashionable Andrew 🤔😊👍 thanks again bud and I have to agree with you that the people are great up here.....not so much from Sunderland 🤔😉🤣🤣👍👍

Great selection of classic Hammer movies, I have also been a fan of the franchise for many years and horror movies in general. Sister Hyde was a great take on the Dr Jekyll films and worthy of being in your top ten. You just can not beat those early films with Lee and Cushing, not forgetting Bela Lugosi and Karloff as well years earlier.

    • @MondoChelloveckMovies
      @MondoChelloveckMovies  2 роки тому +1

Cheers bud 🤩🤩👍👍 yeah I think if you like the style of Hammer then you are hooked!! I always liked the Sister Hyde take on the story, obviously exploitational but such an interesting idea 🤩🤩 I think with Hammer Icons and also bringing in the old guard of Karloff, Lugosi and Chaney Jr you have probably the definitive Horror masterpieces covered 🤔🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍

It's good to find another fan of Dracula: AD 1972. I love that film. It was also my mum's favourite Hammer film. It was one of the last Dracula films i taped on VHS as a kid, i don't know why but it wasn't on English tv for most of the 80's, i think i was 9 before i taped it. (Halloween 2 was another that was never on when i was a kid, but different rant there lol). My current version of AD72 i bought on Amazon movies.

The more I think about it, the more I think Hammer were just astonishing in what they achieved. The were a one-compqny film industry. Imagine if a British production company was trotting out 2-3 horror movies a year now? Kudos to them. My fave has to be Dracula 1958, great gothic. Or Twins of Evil, Easy on the eye! Saw Satanic Rites last month from HMV Premium, well worth a look and nowhere near as bad as people say. Thanks for the video!

I Agree Taste The Blood of Dracula is indeed Number 1 Dracula film of All Time how Frankenstein must be destroyed i thought was really good especially the way that Dr Frankenstein was a Villain which was so perfect clear into the end. I really enjoyed the count down on the rest of the other Hammer Films you talked about

I love Hammer. I am so glad you mentioned The Witches. So underrated. One of my favorites. I was hoping you would have included The Reptile which again was another Hammer film that was underrated. I love your list . You need to check out 1972 -Blacula. Kinda like Dracula A.D. 1972 but set in America. Another really good one to check out is Count Dracula's Great Love and you can't forget about, The Vampire Lovers with Ingrid Pitt. Christopher Lee is definitely the best Dracula!

So... maybe I need to see it again, I also didn't care for _Curse of Frankenstein_ the first time. I'll try it again someday. I haven't seen a few of your choices but the ones that did a number on me so far that aren't on your list are: _The Gorgon, Kiss of the Vampire, Brides of Dracula, Curse of the Werewolf, Satanic Rites of Dracula, Taste of Fear, Horror of Dracula,_ and the one few people liked- _Curse of the Mummy's Tomb._ I only have 2 of your selects on my list: _Frankenstein Created Woman_ and _Taste the Blood of Dracula._

I think your list is reasonable but I personally you missed out a number of even better Hammer Films - most notably Horror of Dracula, and Hammer’s best film which - Devil Rides Out. Do not forget more modern Hammer films such as Woman in Black, the resident and Wakewood.

John, believe it or not "FRANKENSTEIN CREATED WO-GIRL" is one of just a few movies that i`ve actually seen over 1000 times (yes, thats right, i said thousand not hundred), it really did become such a cult classic for me, i think it was because of the astonishingly magical atmosphere in the film, it literally never failed to have a very calming and soothing effect on me whenever i watched it, in fact for a couple of years back in the late 90`s you could say i was using the film as a sort of 'visual anti-depressant' (so to speak), some movies do have an incredibly high rewatchability factor often without any rational explanation.
