After watching several videos on installing a Generac unit of this size and type, including all of your videos on the subject, I feel that yours are the best ones. I would recommend watching them to anyone considering a similar installation. I think yours are excellent because you focus on the installation, you are very clear and honest about the requirements, and your work is very neat and well organized.
Wow, thank you very much! It definitely was not a perfect install, if I were doing this professionally for someone else I would do a few things differently. But I greatly appreciate the compliment.
I love it!! Not to hold you up. I've been a master electrician for, I don't even know how long. What made my day, is watching the kids. They went from supervising, to work. I remember like yesterday I would do side jobs and take my son. he was about 8 and he would always ask (Dad am I your big boy helper?) Of course you are son. couldn't have done it without you bubba. What a Dad. They will never forget it.
Amazing what you accomplished without any concrete working tools except the edger. And mixing on plywood rather than in a pan or wheelbarrow. I'm impressed. :)
Thank you so much for the video. I have had the 24kw on order for months from another company. I thought the Lowes site was a glitch due to it being so soon. After watching this, I ordered and got it in 10 days! Cancelled the other company. Thanks again!!!
thanks so much for this video, i recently turned out and my family has asked me to install a generator for them as well. I havent done alot of take offs for materials but i have worked on a few generators so i do have some idea of what i need to do. im saving these videos to kind of keep me reminded of what needs to happen
Great video ! It was fun seeing all the Children Playing. My own Son is all grown up now at 18... Honestly the time Flew By. Sure do miss him. Putting in our Own Generator soon, and just stopped in to see you pour the foundation. :) Up here in Wisconsin we can't even get Natural Gas meters. There is a One Year Backlog to up grade the meters. Ridiculous.
Wow that’s insane! It has gotten a little bit better here in north Florida getting materials, but there for a while we couldn’t get a whole lot of anything. Our oldest is about to turn 16, and I can’t believe how fast the time has gone! Thank you so much for watching
@@MaynardFamilyHomestead Growing up Quick. The emotions of watching your children walk out into the World with the way the World is now.. scares me alot. Thanks for the reply !! Cheers.
I finally got my RK37 cab hydro this past Saturday thats a very nice tractor and i just fit in it lol i. 6'5 500lb guy so i just fit lol id like to see more on that generator.. setup and installation thanks for the video sir and as always god bless and stay safe from the buckeye state 😁🙏
You were very lucky it took me 5 months to get my 24,000. Generac told me 4 to 6 months when I called them. I purchased mine from a Distributor with premade slab (300 lbs), transfer switch (wifi) and battery DON"T FORGET YOUR BATTERY !!
Why didn’t you put some mesh in before pouring. Could also have added fiber- mesh while mixing. Hop you don’t get any cracks. Also you could have added a few joints under the generator footprint as protection.
No criticism, but I was wondering why you broomed the finish. I always thought that that was done to keep the slab from being too slippery when wet when walking on it.
Great question! Mainly to help keep the generator from vibrating around. It is strapped down but can still move around slightly. The broom finish help keep it from moving.
Generators are the ticket! How far away from the house does the manufacture recommend putting them? You going to use propane to fuel it I am guessing. Using an auto transfer switch?
The generator has to be 3’ from the house. The propane tank has to be 15’ from anything that could ignite, including a receptacle or A/C. Yep, it’s large enough I can use an ATS and not have to worry about it being overloaded when it starts. I submitted for permits with the county so I can do everything but the meter can portion now. Once I get the permit I will have the power company pull the meter for me I can finish it up. We’re excited!
greetings mr. maynard sir; while i realise everything is yours along with the toil, might i impart some thought into your project? there is really no need to wet and mix the concrete to pour the pad (watch billboard erectors when they are in your area, they never mix and pour). just open the bags and dump them in the formed area, trowel it level (after some slight packing) then wait. if you are in a hurry then mist it with a fine spray. you have to wait for it to set up no matter how you pour it. this is a whole lot less work and just as good................g
I’m always open to learning and hearing new ways! I’ve actually used that method for fence posts, but never for a slab. It sure would save a ton of work! :-)

Thank you for recording your 24k installation, and yes I am eating Natural Vanilla Bean made by Blue Bell as I am watching.
You have a blessed and beautiful family sir!! Great video!!!!

Nice to see your children out and about with you while you do your house works! Thanks for the video. Good fortune to you and your family.

Surprised the cement didn't end up with hand prints and initials! ;-)

Awesome, glad you finally got it!! I’m actually hoping to finish the hookup video later this week, I should be 99% done with it tomorrow.
500lb? I hope you are just kidding.

Wow, that’s no fun! I grabbed a buttery from Rural King, definitely something you don’t want to forget.
Ordered my 200amp auto transfer panel from Jacks Small Engines. 6-10 business days. So far
I like your choice of snacks !
I’ve waited 6 months from lowes.Delivery in June 24kw
Generators required a special slab. Otherwise with weight and vibration they tend to crack .
Why didn’t you put some mesh in before pouring. Could also have added fiber- mesh while mixing. Hop you don’t get any cracks. Also you could have added a few joints under the generator footprint as protection.
What size is the pad?

Where are you located? Wondering, Lowes in my area are 8 months out!
We’re located in north Florida. We bought ours from Lowe’s in Alachua, FL.
How did you get the generator from the pallet to the pad?
I literally just slid it off the pallet right onto the pad. I made sure the pallet was slightly higher.
Did you anchor the gen to the concrete?
I did, later in another video I showed that.
I think this is Phil Helmuth.
How did you find out? 🧐😜
What was the price of your generator?
Roughly $5500 with the ATS.
@@MaynardFamilyHomestead a 24kw and the xfer panel for 5500. Wow
The price of a 24k with the 200 amp switch is $6400, I bought the 22k with switch for $5600

Dam! Why you gotta take out the poor spider👎 It was just outside doing it’s thing.
You didn’t even mount the generator to it in the 57 minute long video 🤦🏼♂️
Don't buy Generac, mine failed from manufacturer design flaws. They didn't care.
I like your choice of snacks !
Bluebell is the best!!
