Love this video, thanks!!! I've done a handful of desert races, but I never enter to actually race. Mostly just an excuse to go ride some different terrain for the day. In my training I've found that riding strictly off-road leaves me feeling short on the endurance aspect of things. One year I mixed in some off-road and track riding and I was blown away how much faster I was during that years race. Not only faster but my endurance was light years better. I've been working on standing up 90% of the time the last year or more and my skills have exploded. Having so much more fun riding now too.
Great track ethics advice Jason can not tell you how many people have cut across my lines over the years of riding to exit the track on a fast straight. My friends used to laugh at me for raising my hand if I stalled at the practice track say mid corner but it saved me so many times to alert riders also used my arms or legs to indicate faster riders on which side to pass.
Stay in your lane! Haha, I am always more comfortable around fast people, they have it under control and will pass you like a pylon as long as you don't try to get out of their way and cut into them 😄
I think that is true. When I ride with Moto people, they often get themselves into trouble with the unpredictable terrain we encounter. Going too fast and blowing tight turns.
@@JasonHamborg MX's got mad skills, they have the muscle memory to go faaast offroad. I think as a off-road/trail/desert rider, to get really fast off-road it helps to MX. Gets you comfortable going fast, jumping, and turning. Im too old(56) to get hurt on the MX track, and so I will continue to trail ride at a moderate pace.
Thanks for the video mate…. Awesome content as always 👌🏼 quick question… what size sprockets do you run on yours, I do woods & more extreme type riding & im finding on my Yz running the standard 14/50 gearing I’m running in 1st gear a lot…. I’d like to be using 2nd & possibly 3rd some times so thought I’d see if you have any preferences. Mines not the x model as we don’t really get that model in the uk. I do have a gnarly pipe on & 11oz weight. Both made the bike way more usable on trails & enduro. Just want to get the gearing on point now, but not ruin the top end at the same time. Any ideas, info, help massively appreciated mate
@@JasonHamborg thanks mate 👌🏼 that’s awesome, still 114 link chain? & what’s the bike like doing 50mph ish is it still ok & not screaming it’s nuts off 🤣
You know your stuff. 100ft table or 20ft table, if you're note comfy that day hitting it, don't fret over it. "NEXT time.... maybe... " haha. What track is this?
@Innowayfamous Ah, keep it that way, it looks so good! I commented during the video before i watched it all the first time. , All of the stuff you said, I know some moto guys who think they're pretty fast who could learn a thing or two from this.. haha. Keep up solid profile, really well done!
Thanks for watching!! I actually just got them direct from Jon at SXS... I wish they had a Canadian dealer or something haha. Send them a note on instagram or send me a note direct and I am happy to put you in touch :)
@Innowayfamous thanks, I'll try to reach out directly too. I'll be in touch if it doesn't work out. Thanks again for the content!!! Great riding too my friend.
Do you feel the yz "x" still pulls good in 4th and 5th compared to the regular mx yz? Like obviously it's way taller but does it do good for like fast sand trails? Can't decide between the x and the regular yz. Ride mostly trails and single track but love fast sand trails and occasional dunes
I find the jump from 3rd to 4th is really far... even on a moto track it's tricky to find spots where 4th makes a lot of sense... I guess it depends on your definition of fast sand trails. Most of my trails I am in 1-3... but if you're talking like fast desert type stuff than the x would probably be nice.
@@JasonHamborg I do I got cr high bend on my yzx. and I luv the action but hate the bend so I switched back to stock.. thinking about another set.but want alot less sweep.are the mx and the Enduro is the same sweep ?
As an off road feller, I strongly approve this message.
Cheers my man!!

This is rad! Cool to see what I'm talking about in the video aligning to people's reality! Gives me confidence what I'm saying isn't total BS 😅
Amen to all said here ,,I have learned to never ride real fast on any trail or track I don't know real well

Production quality is sick. Great info also.
Thank you kindly!!
Sweet track! Nice and sandy. It always made me nervous when theres alot of people at the track

Thanks Steve!!
Great perspective!!!

I was also thinking a fun video would be how to enjoy rising offroad as a motocrosser haha

Sounds like you have that bike jetted perfectly. What altitude are you at and jetting settings do you run?
Hey man, sorry for the delay!! N3EW Needle will clip @ top of needle.
172 main and 40 pilot

575m 👍

I run 13-51 for exact reason you're describing. Mostly ride in 2nd and 3rd but have 1st available when things slow way down.
