Top Session! These sessions make me think / reflect more than anything else on what I'm doing or more importantly, not... I am interested to watch how Nick navigates the controls, anticipating and modifying with a clear expectation of the results, a reminder that a deep understanding of the common building blocks of synthesis - and the power within - takes you a much longer way than just investing in another piece of hardware in order to drive the creative process. There were easily half a dozen quickly sketched ideas that were begging for more development, but again not needing the keyboard skills of a virtuoso and a rack full of gear. It's that accessibility that I think makes these so powerful. Cheers Nick!
looks like you got some good psytrance going on there. noise later gets quite messy, but I can see how that first long note would be perfect to layer over the preceding idea.
I think this is the best Nick magic I have yet seen. The Mini 2 sounds beautiful even soulful in your hands. Certainly Arturia have done it again...the incredible Matrix Brute and then this...These are Masterpieces that w I'll stand the test of time I think. I am going to start selling stuff to get the Sequencer version.. I liked the pedal too.
Very nice! Thanks.. I heard that the minibrute oscillators mixers overdrive halfway up the faders, so i'm always a little surprised to see demos pushing them to the max..
Truly! I'm wearing Beyerdynamic T90 headphones on a DacMagic XS v2 and even with the bad sound quality of 360p resolution, it sounds like the stuff is happening in my room! God bless! =)
I know this is a monophonic synthesizer, but that definitely sounds like more than one note at 1:14. Could someone explain how this is done? Great video, by the way!
So many GREAT reverb pedals now. And so many that accept line level. Just checked the specs on this and the input can handle +6.54 dBV = 8.76 dBu, plenty of headroom. This, the Empress Reverb, the Boss RV-500.....Eventide and Strymon finally have some competition.
I can think of a synth you haven't made sound great or a piece of gear you have used that hasn't made me investigate if further after your videos! Great stuff Nick - keep it up!
I think I could spend the whole night playing that binomial, amazing, for a moment I thought I was in a ship a board the millennium falcon at 7:20 the magic begins Oohhhh!!!
I like the reverb, but I'm not sure if I like the cost. There's other companies with comparable pedals in the same price range that I would pick first. It's still a nice sounding pedal, though. I think I would get an Empress, Chase Bliss, or Hologram Electronics pedal first. I bet you could get some insane reverb, if you paired something like an Empress Reverb with one of these, and then ran it through something like Habits or Blooper. I'm sure it would get completely insane, which is what I prefer sometimes.
Great demo and love the ambient drones and tones! I have the same setup, Ventris and Minibrute 2. Question: I'm trying to replicate what you did on this video. To create the pad or bed to play on-top, did you have to make some settings using the Neuro Desktop application?
Great video thanks a lot ! I already wanted to get the Minibrute 2S after having the first one, and you made me get that Ventris reverb too aha. I love it but I can't figure out how to keep that frozen sound without remove my finger from the Option Switch... Could you tell me how do you only press it one and get it to continue like that ? Thanks in advance
Being a total newbie with synths, and looking at buying my first synth for primarily ambient & trippy music along the lines of The Orb, I think this might be the one I should buy.......Not only that, I've had Arturia's Analogue Lab for a while and quite like some of the sounds from their Pigments software, so if Arturia chuck me a few downloads as a sweetener it might just convince me to buy this synth 😎👍
Cool stuff. Is the Minibrute going straight into the pedal, or are you attenuating the signal somehow to bring it down from line level to instrument level?
these sure put out a lot more low end than the original brute.. I think they both have their place though cause the original has such a tendency to become so crazy/harsh
Hi, I am looking for something to trigger a Pulsar 23 and other modular Synths. Would this be suitable, or would a Keystep Pro be better ? I think the Mini brute looks aesthetically better mind.
omg this Ventris Reverb sounds bloody amazing !!! i now know which new Pedal i immediately need !! thanks for this Nick !! That was awesome!
The MiniBrute shines in your hands Nick.. Good job
He definitely has shiney hands!
Robert Syrett Hahaha not what I had in mind
Beautiful!
Amazing, this friday fun should have been at least 3 hours longer, great sounds.
I know this is an ancient comment.... but what synth is in your profile pic? It looks a bit like my multivox mx 450.
This was about 10x more entertaining than expected. Fun little jam, but super informative too! Thanks!
Wow! Nick, this video is fantastic. Thanks for checking out the Ventris.
Yay fun Friday is back!! That little Reverb pedal kicks ass!
So good to see a demo that shows the softer side of the MiniBrute 2
Hello from the US. I love waking up on Friday to make coffee and listening to these jams.
Some really nice sounds. I've ordered my MiniBrute 2S. Now I'm just pacing back and forth in my studio waiting for it to arrive.
The pedal is insane.
5:39 is where the real fun begins. I love this channel!
Nick, fantastic as usual. Now, please would you release an album!?
This fella could make a kazoo sound good.
the key is the pedal, not the guy nor the synth

Poetry my friend. Also if I made add....that also has an understanding of music theory and chord progressions
I keep coming back to this beautiful jam. Seriously considering Ventris to add to my Brute2
last section with bass is amazing damn!
I know I'm 2 years late - but I just ordered my MB2S. This is gorgeous. No wonder the pedal costs more than the synth. Nice one Nick, as ever.
YES! Thank you for bringing back this series.
I knew this pedal was gonna be great when it was announced! And yes yes yes this demo proves it! Thank you for the video!! :)
Thanks Nik...I learn so much just watching this channel
Absolutely awesome! I love the way you use the Ventris, with the drone running on one of the two engines! Sounds so good!
Nice one! Happy to see Fun Fridays are back.
no apologies needed on that heavy 'verb!
looks like you got some good psytrance going on there. noise later gets quite messy, but I can see how that first long note would be perfect to layer over the preceding idea.
SO good Nick

I guess you haven't seen this then: ua-cam.com/video/-vS2doNLp1M/v-deo.htmlm2s
I'm sure it was responsible for selling another thousand M-32's :-)
Love the Friday fun thing you are my reference for a lot!!!
Need to rewatch this at home, cannae do it justice on my crappy tablet speakers.
Whoa! :P ...first time I've ever seen that actually typed! Calm down lad! I'm not sure the interwebs are prepared for such unabashed Scottishness! :P
Think I said it before, but my Minibrute 1 probably needs to find a new home to make space for the 2. REALLY like the sound on this thing.
Very very very cool. And inspiring! great work Nick
Very nice! Thanks.. I heard that the minibrute oscillators mixers overdrive halfway up the faders, so i'm always a little surprised to see demos pushing them to the max..
Felipe Signé the mini2 does not do this, instead it allows you to overdrive in otherwaya
Great! I've got the Source Audio Nemesis delay and am looking forward to getting a Ventris. That new MiniBrute sounds awesome too.
Fantastic, thanks x, especially the ending. We want more.
Listen to this with good headphones that can reproduce deep tones cleanly. It really is something good. :)
Thankyou!

Cool little digital reverb pedal.
Check out Meris Mercury 7. Even better than most of those. Definitely beats the Big Sky in terms of sound
whoa that bass is killing it
Beautiful, mouth watering reverb
Best Friday show
🔥
I can think of a synth you haven't made sound great or a piece of gear you have used that hasn't made me investigate if further after your videos! Great stuff Nick - keep it up!
Can I send midi with the knobs to control vsts?
That was absolutely beautiful. Lovely tones... Perhaps even dulcet! Reverb gives my Eventide Space a run for its money.
Very nice ... really liked that arp on top of the drone.
What happened to your eurorack stuff?
Edit: 5:00 onward is my favorite bit!
These _Friday Fun_ vids are always brilliant and inspiring. Thanks. :-)
Epic! I already wanted the MiniBrute2, now I want this pedal!
So you going to get the pedal not the brute? Lol
When are you going to put out an ambient record? You know a ton of us would buy it. Just start a Sonic State Bandcamp.
I think there is one... yeah, here:
soniclab.bandcamp.com
AGREED. album by Nick would be an instant buy
Brilliant love Friday night jams.. Do it every night nick
Thanks Nick! That was really cool.
I was skeptical at first. You are a magician.
That MiniBrute 2 sounds So damn good!! Super Warm!
lovely. i feel like this sounds better than my matrixbrute.
Really a good fun thing. Thanks for it Nick!
Can we get a jam of this? I could listen for hours!!!!!
Great stuff. The title should mention it's the MiniBrute 2, not the MiniBrute.
That’s a spicy meat ah ball.
I'll buy a sonic shirt if it say PWM around the gut area with the words phat width modulation.
@sonicstate PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN! I NEED that shirt! :D
Cool reverb pedal
Well, Nick, I hope Source Audio let you keep it, I know you sold me on one, I’m sure I’m not alone. Mine just arrived yesterday. 👍
Wow! Lovely sounds Nick!
I think I could spend the whole night playing that binomial, amazing, for a moment I thought I was in a ship a board the millennium falcon

Thanks Nick!
That was beautiful. :-)
pretty cool reverb. ehx does a freeze pedal. i have the cathedral reverb and its useful
Wow!!! Thanks for showing that off!! Impressive

tasting very nicely of tangerine dream.... superb...
this series is excellent

I don't remember offhand but i used the desktop editor to set it up
Sounds awesome, Nick! Is there somewhere we can find any of your music, like finished tracks - soundcloud, bandcamp etc.?
+MySecretMachine soniclab.bandcamp.com
Cool, thanks! Did you do some work with Goldfrapp?
Awesome sounds! Great combination of pedal and synth. :-)
nice Session ..thx ..more please
Sounds fantastic. Very inspiring.
5:45 Pure Love, nothing else to say.
Superb ! Contrats man you’re so much more than just a reviewer..make live and concerts !! Ill buy tickets ! 😁

I wish you’d done the soundtrack for Bladerunnner 2049, this really just evokes the original for me.... grreat stuff!
Super sick reverb!
more fun fridays please, you should do the something old something new twist at least once a month
This is a fantastic amsr
these sure put out a lot more low end than the original brute.. I think they both have their place though cause the original has such a tendency to become so crazy/harsh
Hi Nick,
Great jam you did there.
Are the inputs on the Ventris stereo or mono?
nice idea. i do something similar with elcapistan as a wonky looper
Thank you for the inspiration.
This is beautiful. Why does mine just produce awful Thumping. My Microbrute is a delight
the wife just went to bed. Now I can crank this up in the headphones and do it justice. WOW PHAT!
Awesome! Can I do the same thing using a Minibrute 2s + midi keyboard? Thank you
Yes you can. I am using the Arturia keystep controller.
7:23 holy hell..
Is the input of the pedal line or instrument level, or can they be switched?
that... was excellent
sound marvels .... best of british synth culture
Gorgeous
Fuck I want this synth
Hi, I am looking for something to trigger a Pulsar 23 and other modular Synths. Would this be suitable, or would a Keystep Pro be better ? I think the Mini brute looks aesthetically better mind.
Heftig...total geil!😃
I think you just sold me a Minibrute 2.
