Love the tutorial. Clear and easy to follow with enough extra bits of information and tips. Side note: you mixed up the normal explanation. The first and last methods leave the text normal to the extrusion plane (the one with the text). The second method leaves the text normal (perpendicular) to the curved plane. As a beginner, the term normals can be confusing so I thought I should clarify.
What about when the letters cuts itself is impossible to extrude? For example when you choose a different font. Is it posible to convert letters to a curve line?
Thank you . We are relatively new to Solidworks . We are using online version of Solidworks called Solidworks for Makers or Solidworks Connect . We are having a problem with text that is driving us nuts . When we try to enter text there is a "." inserted always before the first character . We can't find where to turn this off . Please Help!!! Any help would be gratefully received
I'm not sure there's a setting to change that but what you may be referring to is the placement point for the text itself. It's not actually a "." but a point in the sketch that you can use for dimensioning and constraining. If you try using the text in an extrusion, that point won't be part of the feature. Hope this helps.
for what ever reason, it is not creating the text on the sketch as its own entity, It will not absolutely at all select the text for extrude or cut. I don't know whats wrong with it. 2018 SP3
Is there an easy way to add a lot of sequential text to a part? I have a rectangular vial tray that that I want to number each space and there are a lot, like 168 in one. Right now I'm just typing long strings of horizontal text and spacing out with text spaces. Then I copied a string up to the next row and had to go in and retype the numbers. A bit slow and tedious!
I have been looking for an answer on this and the so the short answer is no there is not an "easy" way that I have found to generate numbers like that. It would make a good enhancement request. www.goengineer.com/blog/how-to-submit-solidworks-enhancement-request
Is there a simple way to just put a label on the surface of a part that matches the part name or other reference. For example I have lots of resistors in a 2D schematic associated with placed parts in SW electrical 3D. So the 3D part knows its R1 or R2 or R50, whatever. Having a table on each resistor in 3D makes it easy to then create a drawing top view for e.g which shows all the components with their respective X Ref to the symbol in the schematic.
Hi...what version of SW is this?, 2018?...also what enviroment settings for the graphic display do you have turned on/off?, as in real view graphics on, floor reflection, shadows,etc...it looks great.
This is SOLIDWORKS Premium 2019 SP3.0. I am not certain what the graphics settings were at the time of creating this video, but it seems to be the default settings for Real View graphics. Thanks!
Anyone know how to control the text spacing? There is literally an option under font but it doesn't actually reduce the spacing to zero if you set it to 0mm.
i follow exactly and i can't get the text to be selected to to the extrusion ? using the same version of solidworks
can text go fully defined?

Is there a way so that you can type your text in the midplane of the centerline so that you can center the words on a place/surface?

A1 execution and clarity. Top job. Thank you so much for your help
You're very welcome!
Thank you. Your video gave me exactly the answer I was looking for: How to make text follow the normal of plane (text on cylinder)

best ive seen, thank you
Does it matter that the text is not defined? What problems or difficulties in the future can we come across if text like this is not fully defined?

Hi!
Great video!
Can it make tapered inner letters?
for what ever reason, it is not creating the text on the sketch as its own entity, It will not absolutely at all select the text for extrude or cut. I don't know whats wrong with it. 2018 SP3
did you figure this out?
Thx for that!
great thanks for help!
Nice Thank you
hi!
how to do crowning or Curvature of Top surface of Text ??
What about adding draft to this text, for example in a cast part. There seems to be no easy way to do this in SolidWorks.
Very helpful thank you
Thank you ❤
What if you want to edit the text to change the word? How is that done?
You have to get back to editing the sketch, and then from inside the sketch you can update the text.
Very useful, thank you.
how to copy text in specific direction? "linear sketch pattern" does not work
Amazing!

Rare that a video actually gives you exactly what you want it to
great,great, very very good
Thank you! 😃
THANK YOU SO MUCH
You're welcome!
How do we do this on a multiple curve?
I'm trying to add a text on a polygon shape but it only allows me to select 1 surface!
nevermind, your 3rd step worked perfectly.
Ideal! Thanx a lot!
You're welcome!
Thanks.

Can i text in other language?
Yes, it should be able to add any other font or language available in your windows install
Tools > Sketch Entities > Text
İ was printed in my 3d printer . Bad result in glacis

Hey Jon, thank you for pointing that out. We recommend using the Spacing option in the Sketch Text PropertyManager for this.
@@goengineer That actually doesn't control it. twitter.com/Jonbydesign/status/1414898218002001924?s=19
Was wondering how to engrave text on a round surface
Take a look at this article

@@goengineer I will, thx!
its so quiet......
Speech volume is too low..
Do agree. OS - Windows 10 (up to date), Chrome recently updated. Reason seems to be in video uploaded.
why are you speaking so loud in the video tho?
Thank you!
