this video has a strange ASMR quality about it; i can watch it all day! it's just so nice to watch the craftsman work his way meticulously along the leather stitch by stitch.
sublime! I can't help myself of being inspired by the amazing "hands of Hermes"
Very nicely done. Excellent manual dexterity and calmness
This is the truly the epitomisation of perfection
Beautiful... I'm currently learning from a Hermes master.
Hermes, which is famous for its leather goods brand, it really is so good.
The sounds are lovely =)
beautiful craftmanship
A true Artisan!
this is wonderful
@NinkaPanda It's simple, practice. For the first twelve months as an apprentice saddler all I was only allowed to sew horse and bull halters and if they were not of a standard for sale you risked your job. After 12 months you were allowed to sew dressage bridles and equipment. The only difference in stiching is when doing harness you lock the stich after you put the right hand needle through by lifting the bottom of the left hand loop over the needle to form a knot inside the leather.
AMAZING!
wow!! Pure skill
this is art
Superbe !
Amazing skills. BRABBU is inspired by this artisans!
It's a simple video, but the seam makes the difference between manufacturers.
i wonder if their hand bags are made like this too...
Lovely "!!
WOW!!!! LOVE IT !!!!
goddamn.....how could a man do it that straight? unbelievable....
Let's not be fooled. The craftsmanship still is only a small portion of the price.
What is he making?
Vive la France 🎉
Very very nice. I have a christian louboutin derbie shoe. It murders my poor foot..i hope the hermes are beter in comfort
whats the leather tools name hes using
Jack Saltzberg He's using an awl to make the holes and holding the leather with a stitching clam
3 hours later, the young apprentice sits in horror, as he finds out that the string was too short.
funny how what was common of all craftsman now costs you over £400...crazy!
Takes 22 hours of handstitching to make a Kelly Bag. I went to 'Leather Forever' by hermes in London, best expo ever. Learnt so much from Natalie, their craftswomen, and yes, not badly paid. It's France, 6 weeks holiday, 37 hour work week, free health care, and great food....so the 16,000 US it costs is worth it.
Paying for this hand stitching is well worth the price. If one of the stitches is cut or broken, the rest of the stiching will not unravel...you cannot accomplish that with any sewing machine.
this is what I call patience..
A professional Hermes craftsman has to undergo 5-6 years training before getting hired.
this is just a basic saddle stitch, you are full of bullshit
@@mohdsalmanbinshafie7658 The craftsmanship of these brands are overrated. If you give a 15-year-old Vietnamese factory worker (who has been working for 2-3 years) the chance to make one these bags, and give them as much time as is provided here, they likely will display the same craftsmanship.
That why it take months to make one bag
i like Craftsmanship
that and marketing...
Well, if the profit from the bag sales goes to pay for the workers salary to feed their family and children (and paying bills, and health insurances), yeah, it save lives.
原点です。ありがとうございます。
It's basic saddle stitching... Not sure what this video is trying to show...
the cobblers on the street of india do this craftsmanship all day at 0.001% of the cost of HERMES
No wonder its so expensive.
I see....
The reason he could stitch so straight is because he punched the holes for the stitching before and was doing a saddle stitch.
What they don’t realize is that the skin is from the animals that are tortured and killed. What they don’t see is the dark secret behind “luxury”.
Skillsssssss
ok, what else does that bag do?? Can it save lives??
เนียบมากคะ
I'm wrong, sewing is not gay at all, it rains money if you do it well
For what their bags cost I hope they pay them very well.
i would do that for 50k+
Wait for a primani or similar clone lol
shit, this would take a week to finish 1 pair of shoe
Traditional Thai craftman can easily do this or even better. We do crafting long before Hermes was even born. Yeah but if it is a traditional handcrafted product from our people, the price would be like 1$, yet the crafting quality is much better than this.
Faaiz Ember .yeah......true.....its suspicious .and getting weirder by day
UMM 😐 THEY USED LIKE SEWING MACHINES AND GLUE WHILE HERMES ONLY HAND STITCHED AND IF IT NOT PERFECT THEY THROW OUT THAT SECTION
The techniques are borrowed from European brilliance. There is a reason it’s $1 for Thai and 10,000 for Hermes
Asmr
why is he hammering stitches?
Makes them look nicer and even like John Dally said. Its like putting the cherry on top. :)
nobody told him that there are sewing machines ? and wtf was that piece anyway
Still not worth thousands of collars tbh. All you buy for is the name.
I cringed when this other guy said that with Hermes, you get what you pay for whereas, you pay Tom Ford just for the brand name. I think it is the other way around.
Smbat B. I bet when you call a person that at your own local public school, you’re going to get your ass whooped.
Actually, I am "retarded". I have a shunt in my brain because of my Hydrocephalus. Do you know retarded means delayed?
because "those chinese" don't get paid as much as 1% of this guy makes!
oi
tf is he sewing though lol
Boycott Thailand
lol What a joke.
Must be the most boring job
Manny Mugz..Can't be..working in a moronic environment like a warehouse is the most boring..how can craftsmanship be boring?..Those products they create last for decades,,they are apriciated by their owners as well as their creators..Not soul destroying like a fork lift truck driver numbskull..
What did you expect, a scam?
Just for this I'd pay 90k for a bag. Just a master huh....
louisasmiles it does not cost 90k to make that shit, you are just buying a name.
smiler..For 90k,you could get a bag for life from Tesco for less than £1,then still have £899,999 left to retire on...lol
I remember watching this video when it first came out and wishing so hard that it was longer than 2 minutes!! This is also the video where I learned what saddle stitching was and how it was done.
