Fr. Rother’s sister was my middle school math teacher. Hearing her stories about her brother were some of the best parts of my middle school experience. Praying for his saint hood!

As an Oklahoma Catholic, Bl. Stanley’s life has had a HUGE influence on the Church in Oklahoma.
His life has certainly had an impact on me, and I’m so grateful to God for Stanley’s witness.
I went to the Beatification Mass in 2017 and the Shrine dedication Mass back in February.
    Truly incredible experiences.
So amazing to see “top-brand” Catholic UA-camrs talking about him!! It’s amazing!!
    God bless you!!
Blessed Stanley Francis Rother, pray for us!

Went to Santiago where his heart is interred, truly a model Catholic who diligently led his flock despite the many troubles going on both in Guatemala and the Church at the time

I went to the Dedication of the Shrine in February, had my Blessed Stanley Rother Rosary and medal blessed by his cousin Fr. Donald Wolf (the ordination he came home for). Attended Mass this past weekend for Good Shepherd Sunday at the Shrine. It is a very special place. There is a museum and a very beautiful chapel with a mural of Martyrs. Come and see!

My grandfather was a cousin to Blessed Stanley Rother. It's pretty cool to be related to a future saint.

All Catholics in Oklahoma know who this guy is and have sat through at least one power point presentation about him.

Wow. So many errors here!! The government forces committed 93% of human rights abuses in the conflict, with 3% committed by the guerrillas. The US advised the government forces and supported the brutal dictatorships.
It is estimated that 140,000 to 200,000 people were killed or forcefully "disappeared" during the conflict, including 40,000 to 50,000 disappearances. While fighting took place between government forces and rebel groups, much of the violence was a large coordinated campaign of one-sided violence by the Guatemalan state against the civilian population (especially against the indigenous Maya - 83% of the victims were Maya) from the mid-1960s onward.
Other victims of the repression included activists, suspected government opponents, returning refugees, critical academics, students, left-leaning politicians, trade unionists, religious workers, journalists, and street children. The "Comisión para el Esclarecimiento Histórico" has estimated that government forces committed 93% of human right abuses in the conflict, with 3% committed by the guerrillas. I know a man whose brother was dragged out of his home and executed by government forces, and they never knew why.
The Catholics were extremely suspected by the government of being on the side of the rebels because of the Church's teaching on Social Justice (which was similar to what the rebels were fighting for). Between November 1976 and December 1977, death squads murdered 143 Catholic Action catechists of the 'Diocese of El Quiche
The Ten Martyrs of Quiché, Guatemala
These ten martyrs, beatified on April 23, 2021, included three Spanish priests, missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and seven laymen, mostly catechists and members of Catholic Action, all judged to have died in “hatred of the faith” in the early 1980s. They were among 200,000 Guatemalans killed during a protracted civil war, marked by genocidal violence by the military and its allies directed at the rural indigenous population. Among the victims were many Christians, including priests, sisters, and lay pastoral leaders whose commitment to the poor was enough to target them as subversives.
The beatification of these ten Catholics represented an application of Pope Francis’s intention to extend the traditional designation of martyr to those who died because of their practice of the evangelical virtues of justice and charity-regardless of whether their killers liked to call themselves Christians.
The ten martyrs, all tortured and murdered by security forces and death squads, were the priests José Maria Gran Cirera, Juan Alonso Fernandez, and Faustino Villanueva; and the seven laymen: Rosalío Benito, Reyes Us, Domingo del Barrio, Nicolás Castro, Tomás Ramírez, Miguel Tiú, and 12-year-old Juan Barrera Méndez. They were recognized as representatives of the whole suffering Church-the People of God-in Guatemala.
Bishop Juan Jose Gerardi was murdered in the garage of his residence at St. Sebastian's Parish, located just 200 yards from the government headquarters, on April 26, 1998. His death came two days after he presented a report on human rights violations during the country's civil war. Most of the atrocities were attributed to the Guatemalan army.
14 other priests of Guatemalan and other nationalities (including Father Rother) were also killed.
