If anyone comes here wondering where to get this song. The Whiffenpoofs created a Christmas album that came out about 10 years ago (2006) called "A Very Whiffenpoof Christmas". This song is on it.
Hello there, No unfortunately I do not know, all I know is that it is performed by the Whiffenpoofs, who are 14 of the senior male singers at Yale every year. I first heard this version done from the show "The West Wing" and have admired it every since. But I appreciate the interest and for viewing my video. Best of holiday seasons to you!
Thank you so much for this, David I too first heard the Whiffenpoofs sing this on The West Wing and am SO happy to find this on UA-cam (and the comment about where to find it on cd)
I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. The song is sung by the Whiffenpoofs and the pictures I found on flickr and I put them together. Not sure if that answers your question or not, but let me know. Thanks, David
The english lyrics were written later than A Adam's french tune which had set a very different French poem. The English lyric is by a US Unitarian Minister (thus...not an atheist). But atheists and non-christians often create lovely church music.. In England (not whole UK but actual England) the Church of England is open to all by law so..atheists can land jobs as church musicians, if peaceable and respectful, as befits the work. They do great work, perhaps precisely because their only interest is making beautiful music?

O holy night by Adolph Adam - Very pretty. Lots of versions on UA-cam. I like the soprano plus choir version - by John Rutter I think.
