The crossing bells on this line act like wayside horns. They ring until the train hits a sensor then the bell stops. It rings again and does the same thing if another train approaches on a different track.
@AmtrakRailfan117 Parts of the MD-W are not quiet zones. The UP-W is not a quiet zone at one crossing in Melrose Park and also in La Fox. The MD-N is not a quiet zone in Rondout. Most of the Rock Island is not quiet, and the Heritage Corridor and Southwest Service are not quiet. The Metra Electric branches are mainly not quiet zones either. The entire BNSF, UP-NW, UP-N, North Central Service and anything else not listed are quiet zones.

Ok. Yeah i live in Southern California, and we have no quiet zones. Except starting on the 24th, theres going to be half a mile of quiet zones.
