BUILDING A NEW ROAD ON THE FARM

- This weeks video is all about "Roads". Finally making a big push on the new road at the out farm. It was actually an old farm track that had been over grown so it was time to clean it up a bit and make it that it can support modern machinery.
Great video again. The new road is taken shape. It's always the same when you want a tractor. The battery goes flat. When you open the tractor shed door, it lights up my eyes as MF is my favourite tractor. The last one I used, which I got new, was an MF 698T. With 18-inch wide tyres lo9ked a beast and worked well
Thanks George, we have a 698T under the knife right now, will do a video on it soon. Super bus the 698T.👍👍👍👍
@FlyingFergyMan I'm looking forward to that video
nice to see you with a shovel in your hand! 😁😁😁
😂😂 Dont like them manual shovels prefer the mechanical ones.😂👍
Another great video. Your doing great work on the farm. Love to see improvements happening all the time. Fair play to you. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Lad👍. Sure you know yourself you are never done with improvements, always something to be at.
Great videos as always Cathal.
Thanks John.👍
Nice bit of road construction there , prehaps you should tender for road repairs for the council , things mite happen then 😂👍👍
Thanks Dave, not so sure my roads would be the best but I would give it a go.😂👍
Great video Cathal, love these type of videos. Nothing ever goes to plan sure. 👍😁
Cheers Carlos. Defo never goes to plan at our place, but sure thats all part of the fun.👍👍
Hello there. I have a 390T that has lived outside all its life. Not pampered like yours. I also have a 265 with a dunken high line cab. Two Excellent tractors.
265 is a great simple wee tractor. My tractors cant live outside, too near the salty sea air.👍
@@FlyingFergyMan yes I can imagine. It's in the hills where I live.
The shed of dream machines ! 😆😆
Only the grass should be green on a farm and only the sky blue.😂😂😂
Nice one Cathal the 4 cylinder living up to it reputation 😂
Tell me about it. In fairness it is one of the easier to start ones but battery let me down... again.😡
Another great job on the farm 👍💪🙂
Thanks William.👍
Good stuff
Thanks Padraig, glad you enjoyed it.👍👍
Good video Cathal 👍
Cheers Philip.👍👍
Another great video
Sure we’re all the same ,what we plan to do each day usually turns into something else
(Sod’s Law) I think it’s called 😂😂
I would agree the 4cyl gets a bad name most just walk past
I’ve had a few over the years and yes some are hard to start but others start just like a 3cyl
Anyway keep them coming and all the best for this year whatever it throws at you
Thanks Philip, you are right there are hard to start ones and easy to start ones. Still plenty knocking about yet.👍👍
good job on the road👍
Thanks David 👍
The road looks well, Cathal. Good job 👏 On another note, I think you're going to have to start parking those Masseys on a hill to get them started in the cold weather 😀
Cheers Alan. Or invest is some decent batteries. Could be worse though they could be green.😂😂👍
@FlyingFergyMan A good booster pack is always a great addition to have around a massey 😅
@FlyingFergyMan A good booster pack is always a great addition to have around a massey 😅
I do need to get one or two of them to be fair Alan. Beats having a second mortgage keeping them oul green yokes going.😂😂
@FlyingFergyMan 🤣
Smooth digger operators.
Cheers Paddy, you can tell im not one of them.👍👍
good video Carhal 😊
Thanks Eamon.👍👍
I love rhe 35 both 3 and 4 cylinder
If its not starting cold its probably hard start hot aswell like the one my dad used to drive thats th 4 cylinder
Its usually not timed exactly right from the factory
In fairness to our old 4Cylinder it is one of the easy start ones. Just needs a battery.🤦♂️👍
@@FlyingFergyMan I think they changed injectors from a certain year onwards
Great video cathal, maybe you did a previous video on this but did ye dig out much too soil before putting down that base layer of broken concrete? And what thickness of that base layer did ye put down?
Thanks Mike. There was a bit of an old road there before but we went down about a foot or so. That should give a good base for bale trailers and big kit.
What about fitting two gates and have a wide opening into the field that you can enter from either side especially coming off a narrow lane, did that on my out farm years ago . With a bare tractor you open one gate and then open the two when it's time for the trailer or muck spreader jobs. Just a suggestion.
Thanks Stephen good suggestion and similar to what I had proposed. Boss man wants to use the lane as stock loading area as its a nightmare at present to get sheep loaded. Also wants to use it as a bale store I believe. 👍
@FlyingFergyMan Well as I know you have to go with the Boss if he's going to be using it but I see the advantages of my two gates to block or to close against a trailer for loading and unloading. Get him to bring another gate up there as a test only and see if it's an alternative to his Idea. My father used to say even a fool can learn you something and never rule something out to you try it... 😀
Any successful job a job worth doing 👌 as for the 4 cylinder 35 im afraid i dont agree with all the bad press they get🤔 if the engine is in decent condition and injection timing is bang on and thermo start working properly then they weren't too bad to start and in my opinion was a far better pulling engine than the first of the 3 cylinder Perkins that were fitted 💪👌
I agree with you there Bob, I actually quite like them. 👍
Thanks Bob. Our 4 Cylinder is actually an easy to start one but just needs a battery. Although the engine is worn now and needs work which we hope to do this winter. The 4C has always been a favorite of my fathers.
I see that tractor is a Autotronic. We have repaired a few of those gearbox's. To many gears for my liking.
I had some dynashift issues but resolved now and rebuilt the engine in 2023. 🤦♂️
@@FlyingFergyMan Engine's are a cheap fix in comparison to gearbox's.
That’s farming 👍👍
Thanks for watching.👍👍
Great video how come you are putting a new track in up the side of the other one.
Thanks Paul. We don't own the other one. Resurrecting an old road in our own land gives us flexibility and then we are not blocking the road for residents further up the lane.👍👍
Having to do a job, to get another job done, im very familiar with that !
Typical around our place.😂👍🤦♂️
23:12 Is that blue alkathene pipe behind the trailer in use?
It is but its just a little cutting, not live. Should have lifted it out of the way. Good spot.👍👍
I know all about having to do a job to do a job to get to the job you want to do🙄🙄
I hate having to do a job to do a job. Just like getting the job I set out to do done.🤦♂️👍
A côté d un chemin existant
Yes we do not own the exiting path, hence the new path.👍
I wasn’t even close…
Nope, slept in this week!!😁😂🤦♂️
@@FlyingFergyManI did. Great to see you having a go at the shovel this time. Not like when you stayed on the tractor the time ye were at the drains in the field.
Someone has to drive the tractor lol😂. Tried to delegate but everyone cleared off and had to do it myself.😂😂
Hi Alan. Nice job with the roadway. Another box ticked 👌
