thanks for this video. because of this i was able to reassamble the door mechanism after upping faulty driver window
Remember do bottom nuts up first so it aligns with top.
Wind out screw holding handle in , wind out to much and the whole dinner piece will fall out and you'll need to work out how it goes back together.
Only knew I had a problem when locking the lights didn't flash , would only flash when unlocking so I could have had a faulty unlocked door mor months.

Great video! I will add an important thing for me and maybe for others viewers: you need to put that metal spring in the gap you see in the piece where you put the cable from the old lock (4:04 to 4:11) to get the right adjustment for the door handle, otherwise it will be loose.
Good catch, might readjust it in the future.

A tip for anyone doing this solo: apply some painters or masking tape to the edge of the quarter panel before taking the door skin off. This will protect it from accidental damage, (which unfortunately happened to me - edge scrape putting the door skin back on).

Hi, I have a 2009 Passat CC (frameless window) - have removed the front driver's door card trim and then the inner panel inside that and have now gained limited access to the door lock actuator and its white plastic carrier frame. Looks like you need to remove the window/window carrier however to get the actuator fully out so it can be replaced. Might be better if I remove the outer steel door skin to more easily remove the door lock actuator. What do you think? Any suggestions?
I'm not familiar with the passat but I would start with investing in a repair manual for that model and see the repair procedures for the lock.
Any idea if this process can be used with a MK4 (GTI)? All the other videos get to the actuator by removing everything on the inside of the door. This is would be a lot easier.
Sorry, not familiar with the MK4's. MK5 and older models are extent where I live so I never see them.
Nice video, very similar to mine 😄 but I still have the problem of not unlocking from the fob😿 idk why. Maybe some broken wires in the wire loom? I’ll check that out
Thx, I've heard about reprograming the locks with VagCom tool, you can look into that.
I had the same problem. I disassembled the fob, cleaned out the dust and put it back together. It fixed it for me, and the LED even works again. Did you find a fix for yours?

Nice video, helped a lot, but have issue with door handle it's kinda loose compare with other ones any idea what I done wrong?
Thx, I believe the cable at 6:55 is the way to adjust the handle, try removing and reinstalling it again but with more tension on the cable if that explanation makes any sense. My door handle is also a bit looser too after the fix but not loose enough for me to bother with opening the handle again.

I just have the hardest time getting the driver door lock cylinder out of the door. I don't feel any screws threading except maybe one that doesn't turn but feels like a spring that just keeps spinning, just like the door lock cylinder because it's broken. I can't get the outer door panel off with the lock cylinder still holding it in place, what to do?
The screw on the lock cylinder doesn't take a lot of turns, and you're not supposed to remove that screw. Try putting the screw all the way back in, and slowly see if the lock cylinder starts moving with every turn of that screw, and the door handle has to pulled or open when removing the lock cylinder.
Hi I’ve got an issue with my mk5 golf where the door is dead in the locked position. Windows don’t go up or down. Door cannot be open from inside or out. What can I do?
I'm not familiar with how to fix this issue, but since both lock and window don't work I would check if its an electrical problem first where the door isnt getting electricity. would check with a scan tool if there is communication with the door modules and if the harness to the door isn't damaged if you can access it.

This vid is on the front left bit driver side but the same as your front right driver side. The back doors I haven't taken them off yet but I assume the process is similar to the front.

6:58 is that a tiny microchip in the door handle ? Just like the one in the key remote ?
Thats attaching the cable end between the handle and the lock mechanism. If not attached the handle would not open the door.

Sorry I didn't put the part number since there are at least 2 different locks with different pin numbers on the connector for this car depending on which model you have. I ordered the wrong part in the beginning, so i do recommend to make sure which part number is the correct one for your car before ordering.
Think I'll let someone else do this one..
