The Onyx Report is a program that critically analyzes the experiences, histories, and perceptions pertaining to Black males in American society across age, class, religion, sexuality, and occupation. I am your host, Dr. T. Hasan Johnson, Associate Professor of Africana Studies at Fresno State, Black Male Studies scholar, and Black Male Justice Advocate. Unreal to think this could happen, but it’s so obvious this is the plan and you can see it now. Google, Twitter, Amazon all have announced similar programs! Notice how they mention black women income being less than whites men and than go off on how black household make less than whites with no mention to white households being men and women or at least two headed households. Just notice how black history month is now almost all about black women? No other race this could be done to except black Americans!

The fact that BW destroyed the my brothers keeper initiative proposed by the Obama administration, because they themselves argued that it was targeted to black boys and its wasn’t inclusive enough, yet you guys are championing exclusive programs that target BW. Black women own 35% of all Black owned businesses (the highest of any other race). They are the most enrolled demographic in the US, in addition they get any women and minority grants/ scholarships/ startup/ welfare. This intersectional oppression multiplier is not based in fact when BW receive so many incentives. It further disproves the notion of intersectionality in of itself.
Actually the most educated group are Asians, Asian women in particular. Blk women are the most enrolled. And women in general are more educated than men because they don't go into blue collar work.

Any old school brothas like myself has watched and lived the intentional gender divide in the black community for decades.
I blame us as black men, Not being able to work together and put a plan together to keep our women on our side and in our families. We continue to blame White men and ask for them for something, when they continuously have shown us they are not giving us anything. We are the only race of people who have the most talent & most success, but offer less to our community. But spend more in the economy on foolish and material things and contribute to the destruction of our community. I wont be mad at black women for taken advantage of this because, we continue to show black women we are not standing up for ourselves and leading our community. We must stop blaming white men. And as black men work together to make our communities stronger.

The closest thing to BM reparations was in 1866 when the US army estlablished segregrated black units. BM were educated paid and given resources to build their own communities out west and the means to defend themselves.
America gave black people reparations from 1865 to 1965.... After that the destruction of the community was on! Kill the leaders, create projects, build prisons.. I never want to hear black women discuss who has it worse.

Anyone who is surprised that black females went out for self again either hasn't been paying attention to bw, or doesn't understand how narcissist think. Why are there so many BW trolls in the comments? This video points out the divide and then they come here to brag about the difference instead of taking notice and doing better. Its great that BW are getting these grants and loans but notice how the BW will become more successful and then look at hardworking brothers like they aren't enough because they weren't awarded the same opportunity. Shit is a vicious cycle and most of us are blind and champion the ride.
I'm glad they are explicitly saying "for black women" because most of these programs they claim to be for Black people, or underrepresented groups, they almost never select black men at all. At least now they are being upfront with their agenda.

I'm a 20-year plus black male business owner, and have worked with a number of community, non-profit, private and government groups to help build my business and I have never come across any programs specific to black men. Minority, POC, community-based, yes, but none specific to BM. I created self-sufficient systems for myself when I realized I could not depend on anyone. In my experience with a number of BW biz owners, they either lack the business savvy, won't support or see you as a competitor. Many of the programs for minority business owners are often led by BW who act as gate keepers. That does not go without saying I have not had a handful of sisters here and there show support but in terms of "doing actual REAL business" my biggest business supporters have often been those who don't look like me.
Yep. I live in a red state. So giving to some campaigns have gotten me good deals. It's sad that bw have become another enemy.

I'm so intrench in what you term tech spaces that, in preparation for the digital currency reset, I've become own bank and now have my own Economy and I'm in the process of developing my own Digital currency to sit on top the Blockchain and I've created a Rites of Passage program specifically for so called Black males, that's currently being used in school districts through out this country.........so I think you need to fall back on the insults young man. 1. Black women will only endlessly cheer and celebrate this and will say any one who complains or questions this - Especially Black Men are all "Just Jealous".
2. When white supremacy wants to play a "con game" on Black People they always start with the the minds of the Black women (not to put too fine a point on that metaphor, but so did Satan. Which is why no plan to "empower" Black women has ever helped Black People as a collective, in fact, it has only been counter-productive. The last Black women to "look back" and think about anyone aside from herself or just other Black women was Harriet Tubman).

Thank you for this video! Very well coordinated with the data, statistics and commentary. I’m super late to it, but I’m a young dark skinned black man (19) in NY. I feel like we as dark skinned black men need to realize that it’s over, that we’ve been discarded by all other demographics and that that is people and society’s prerogative. No one has to like or help or us or care. When we make peace with that and FINALLY let that knowledge influence how we treat people in a nation that is proud to announce in EVERY WAY that it is for everyone except us, we can truly become the selfish and maybe even necessarily cruel people we need to be and just worry about us for a change. Every other group has help, consideration or a fall blanket, so we need to get it together and start acting like what we do, extend and our kind nature (some of us) towards others doesn’t matter. . . because obviously, it doesn’t and that’s just what it is.

This issue between black men and women is not a thing in Africa. Take from that what you will, IJS.
Thanks. I lived this while looking for grad school internships. Businesses had set aside for black women, asians, hispanics, women, but nothing for black men. There were symposiums, meetings and training for others.
The same thing happens in K-12 education. Other people in HR who control the interview and hiring process. The number of women and other people who are in management despite the number of degrees and qualified black men. The small number of black men who are working in the admin building. The small number who are decision makers for districts. The decreasing number who are Superintendents. The decreasing. umber of black male teachers for various reasons. The treatment t of black males in education despite the demographics of the school staff or students.
Take care of your black male sons because the indoctrination starts early and is reinforced throughout the process. Be the mentor. Find that example. Help those who want help. Take care of your mental health in the process. Thanks again.
Excellent work brother. I would like to point you to the CUNY Black Male Initiative. I once was involved in the program when it was introduced to the college I graduated from. However, from time to time I would go back and visit. I noticed the program became progressive "inclusive" at my alma mater. I've witnessed with my own eyes what you speak of. I plan on going back to graduate school and plan to re-involve myself in the program but this time with a more focused eye on only supporting Black men.
At the College of Technology they had a few black guys in the cafeteria looking for black males to join it. Don't go to that school anymore but I doubt they would get many bm candidates since they unfortunately get women teachers in middle and high school who are more inclined to mentor the female students while the males flunk and drop out with no help.

One Black Female youtuber brags about it. She says these grants are awarded to them because people can see who are the real leaders of the Black community. These free gifts entitle people and it's the downfall of the social structure on a society because we know so well how that turned out with the welfare where for the woman to get government assistance were made to have the man out of the house. When I listened to the Goldman Sachs piece when it came out, I listened carefully to what the representative for GS said about the reason for doing this particular move ... it had to do with how much it would improve GDP. In other words, this is being done not so much for Black women, but what is known about what Black women will earn and spend back into the general economy. The challenge here is that as we continue to deal with the damage from Covid, the investment is very much needed ... and since Dr. Johnson presented information that Black men are doing better in business on many metrics than Black women, GS and the rest, which surely has the same data, can see that Black women businesses need the investment a bit more.
This could be solved another way; $10 billion is a lot of money, but if that were broken down by locale, and Black businesses and non-profits worked together, we could self-fund a lot of things -- during Covid, this still would have been a struggle, but the fact is that GS and the others are exploiting a gap they know exists, and they can do that however they like because few alternatives presently are well known. Yet at any time, $10 billion divided by 40 million is just $250 per person, while Black spending in the economy is around $1 trillion a year (maybe a bit lower last year, of course). A brother I know broke that $250 down to $20 a month (with $30 one month, of course), and I work to make sure I spend at least that much with his business every month even with what is going on now. This doesn't stop the unfairness as it comes from the likes of GS and the rest, but it removes the temptation from both him and me to have to compromise with it, and, I have a circle of Black business people -- men AND women, let the record show -- around me who work together to stay out of the need for GS and the rest. There is a lot that Black people can yet do in this direction to not have to compromise with the agenda -- there are still a lot of Black men AND Black women who want to lift each other's enterprises up.
@BLM YC Dr. Johnson gave the figure as part of his presentation, and you can find several articles and releases about it on Google. MarketWatch probably describes the program in most detail; it is $10 billion over 10 years, or a billion a year. That is supposed to be divided among a million Black women, so if we work the math all the way out, that would work out to a loan size of about $10,000 per person to an eligible 100,000 women a year.

If they intend on getting it all while piggybacking off of our trauma then why not come out and say it? I mean, I hear a lot of women talk about being “female Alpha’s”. This is a great subject. As a Black man, I'm not intimidated by grants offered to Black women. For one: deep down, these corporations know that if Black men got on code there'd be no competition. The problem is lately our skin-folk have been programmed to beg for a seat at other tables instead of building our own. Second, women don't stick together. Competition between those who get ahead based on their looks versus those who get ahead based on their skill has and will remain. Finally, as the ole saying goes: whoever funds it, runs it. These corporations are connected to the democratic party. You did mention 'The Links.'

The only viable and worthwhile solution for the black man is the purchase and establishment of something outside of the U.S., where a degree of control and sovereignty can be enjoyed. Black men have to seriously start thinking of a long game, think "Akon City". The steady shift of economic power to the East (China, etc.) can be beneficial for us within a strategic plan to separate from our former and current oppressor. Within the next 10 years the economic landscape will look very different as the U.S. continues to decline in the global community. With all of this being said, there will be strong need for black American men to establish a commonality of purpose among each other, and it has to be rooted in the acquisition of power and self determination. We have to start thinking and behaving like a separate, sovereign entity and make moves as a Bloc.
May I suggest BM to finally search for options overseas .Don't forget that even if all of the men get married there will still be around 2 million BW left alone...not to mention that many BW are so combative , claiming they can do it all by themselves and most of them wanting " HVM" as if all those BW even deserve them witjout making any effort .Fly to Brazil, the West Indies, To Africa , you would be amazed by the opportunities of happiness BW are willing to offer to u guyz!!!and let US BW be fooled by Goldman sachs
