- The new Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries DLC "The Dragon's Gambit" has arrived. Let's take a look at all the gameplay aspects, story, new Mechs and weapon systems together. In this playthrough we will start a new career as a Mechwarrior thrown int o a conflict against our will.

The gameplay of Mechwarrior 5 is split in two different parts. On the one hand you will have to manage your resources, hire new crew members, outfit your Mechs and travel through the Inner Sphere star map. But the action starts as soon as you get into the cockpit of your Battlemech yourself to fulfill contracts on the battlefield to earn more C-Bills and progress the story. I will review the weapon systems, battlemechs, show you how to build the loadouts and train your pilots and take a look at all the different mission types and upgrades of the MW5 Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC.

Finally, the NARC has a function you may be unaware of: on missions where you've negotiated yo drop an Air Strike or 3, there is a specific button you use when in Air Strike targeting mode that will actually center the strike ON the target that's been NARC'd.

@@lilwillywilly It's true. I found it in Control settings, way down there, while I was trying to remember what the damn game had told me you had to do to set up the air strike in the first place.

Wow, what a complicated way to target someone. I usually try to deploy them under dropships when I am forced to take an airstrike.
@@coreymoyers Yes, but what you can do with it is target someone with the NARC, wait until they get back to their friends or back to their base, & then hit them with the air strike - whether you can see them or not. Also, the NARC makes any Lancemate who has any kind of missile system that requires a Lock-On locks onto it - whether they can even see the guy or not. So, if you have someone with - say - an Arrow, they could be on the other side of most maps & be able to hit the guy from afar. Which is also handy.
3 things:
1.) Ever since Call to Arms, the only Mechs that can attack in Melee without a weapon are those with the Battlefists, Barrel Fist, or the "Gorilla Arms" quirk the Banshee has.
Any mech with a melee slot can attack in melee. All melee slots have a default weapon that automatically spawns in-mission if nothing is equipped there.

Pirate weapons are intentionally vague. The descriptions give clues of what to expect. Some are fantastic, some are downright terrible. All are overpriced. It's all about profit baby!
Only way to know for sure is to pay up and risk getting scammed.
Coyote's missions updated with ASF support. You'll find new exploration missions to steal ASF, then you can call one in during missions and it will fly around and attack enemies. They can be shot down though and you will lose them if that happens, so you have to be careful deploying them. You can also find upgrades for them in the standard resource exploration missions.

Great to hear the updates about the content length. I much prefer the MW5 content because it's just more exciting to watch the action, in my opinion. I know lots of people enjoy the strategy of RT, though. Thanks for all you do for your audience, Bara!
I have had six headshots in a single mission before. If you think they are rare, you aren’t trying to get them.
I even punched a boss to death in their cockpit because I was overheating. Headshots are more of a thing in this MW title than anything I have played previously.

Your merc company is shaping up nicely. I like that you are not rushing for heavy and assault Mechs - it's nice seeing lights still getting some love.
Melee works perfectly fine in base YAML, tried with a basic Kintaro 19 in Instant Action, no melee equipped just the basic built-in punch. Must be some other mod conflicting.
You will lose those tier 5 MLs. I would not install them into arm.
2.) The Hollander comes preloaded with a Gauss. That means it can house a Sniper or Long Tom artillery piece, no problem.

I run a shadowhawk with 2 heavy rifles and its deadly burst. 19.8 per just under 40 damage at a decent range. add a meduim laser and your good.

Any suggestions for a console player? I know computer one is better with all the mods i just dont have a computer lol.
I find the mechs dont move nearly as well on console as when you move them around on pc, was wondering if its sensotivity issue or its just the way they made it for console?
I've never played MW5 on console and I doubt Bara has either, but I have seen people play MW5 on console and yeah, the controls are sluggish compared to mouse and keyboard. A lot of people I've seen play MW5 on console, went out and bought a keyboard and mouse. I don't think MW5 console supports keyboard and mouse natively so you might have to remap buttons to your keyboard and mouse. If you want to stick to controller, then be sure to turn on aim assist. It automatically aims at CT, but with some practice you can turn a little bit left or right or up or down to hit ST, head or engine fairly consistently.
NARC does make a difference, missile tracking is 50% more accurate meaning that if you fire an LRM20 and 10 of the 20 missiles will impact, if you NARC the same target then instead 15 of the 20 will impact. It's effectively a +50% damage boost to LRMs.
One of the Best builds I've seen for the Kintaro is 2xLRM5, 2xSRM6 and 2x Medium Pulse Lasers. Seen it do over 1300 damage on mission(no base destruction, just mech and vehicles) with just an AI pilot. Though I'm pretty it was using high tier stuff or possible clan tech.

3021 and clan mechs and weapons? Somebodys mod needs work.
I think not being able to melee without a melee weapon is to prevent AI from just punching you back instantly.

How are you getting clan mechs in 3021? I know what mod you're using but I thought the clan mechs didn't seep in until 3049?
It's the specific mods that only add 1 single clan mech. They don't have a introduction date
