    I feel that Martin Scorsese's film Hugo is very underrated. I've recently analyzed this movie for a film class and see that this movie has an amazing storyline and tale to tell. Martin also makes some really good points in this interview and that he also related his own life into the film.

      I’m bitterly surprised of how underrated it is

    Wow, what a visionary. A very interesting man, without a doubt. He knows so much about movies, and has so much passion in making them. He is one of the best filmmakers in the world, if you ask me. Can't wait for "The Wolf of Wall Street".

    Interviewer: "one of the things I loved was seeing the OLD footage"
    Scorcese: "...oh"
    He masks it pretty well but you can see he's a little amused by that xD.

    Well, I must say that of all Marty’s films my very favorite ones (and not just of those directed by him but films in general) were those without physical violence but rather extremely beautiful in a very elegant and sentimental way. For instance one of my top 10 movies of all time is “The Age of Innocence”. And “New York, New York” and “Hugo” are also very high up on the list

    When the audience in the movie sees the film about the train coming into the station, it was really Martin explaining what 3D can do. Something is coming towards you, the viewer, and it changes your perception of moving image!

      TheAFGFilms This was one reason I was afraid to see Spy Kids 3 in 3D in theaters. Fearing I would literally be grabbed by a 3D effect. But watching the 3D presentation at home was pretty cool. It’s been a while since I have watched a movie in 3D. Hugo was one of those movies worth seeing with the glasses!

    Melies invented it, Griffith put it all together, Welles perfected it, Godard rethought it.

      Is more like, The Lumiere Brothers invented it, George Melies added the tricks, Edwin S. Porter turned it into a story, Griffith put it all together, Warner Bros added the sound, Welles perfected it, Godard rethought it.

    I was just rewatching Hugo tonight on Netflix and it has aged decently for the most part. This was the only movie directed by Scorsese I’ve ever sat through. My dad is a big fan of him alongside Robert Deniro and Clint Eastwood This beautiful movie takes me back to my senior year of high school. Took me four months after it’s release until I gave into see it while Hugo was still playing in 3D. The Oscar wins finally convinced me to check it out. Hugo is one of the most beautiful movies I have watched with 3D glasses. And my initial expectations were exceeded.

      Not sure how you can even say "This was the only movie directed by Scorsese I’ve ever sat through." in ANY way as ALL of Scorsese's movies are phenomenal films to see through entirely to watch and enjoy entirely so! Not just Hugo, and Hugo is brilliant and a beautifully terrific film that Scorsese has made, but there's so much more for you to watch and see from him! You should watch them all to love them as much as everyone else!

      @Gadget-Walkmen 10 місяців тому

      @@manuelorozco7760 The Aviator is great but I do get that the movie is kinda slow-paced and won't entirely be for everyone. I don't see how crime dramas not being your thing as some of the best stories of american media and in fiction ARE crime-based but sure, you can't like everything. As long as you given them all a shot at least.

    It's totally surprising that Martin Scorsese is known for directing R-rated movies, much less PG-13 ones, or that his films feature either his best friend Robert De Niro or his prodigal son of cinema Leo DiCaprio, and for all of what I just mentioned, Hugo is anything but.

    the movie hugo looked to be about an awesome automaton and the genius who made it, and the preview made it look as though Hugo himself would be an amazing mechanical genius as well...... But the movie was about a filmaker, who didn't realy know ish about the workings of automaton and just used it as a movie prop (because he had it made by some "genius"). What do you expect from a filmaker though, it's kind of an autobiography, isn't it?
