I have seen so many reviews that trash this lens vs the FX 1.8G. I don't see it. This lens renders beautifully, its black and white photos are stunning, and it has good bokeh. I'm not a test chart guy. I just want to see how it performs and this video was great to do just that. The bokeh with Christmas lights behind was awesome. I've seen 85mm lenses (the 1.8D) that look awful in comparison and they're purpose built for portraiture. Thank you for this video. Great stuff.

It's my fave lens, i got a 2nd copy after decades. Serial defect - up to ca. 2001 this lens developed oily aperture blades (!) the lens should being stored with the front element down, according to serveral websites. It's a fine vintage lens for all the 35mm AF Nikon (FX) (D)SLRs. I use mine on 35mm Film, or digital.
